*smh* The campaign is still unplayable for me. I assume all the patches are on my computer, but they don't seem to make the slightest bit of difference in performance.
Here're my computer specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard OCZ 650W power supply AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5 GHz 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor 1 TB hard drive
That should run it better than 5 fps on lowest settings, right? Right?... T_T
EDIT: Didn't have the beta patch yet. My bad.

can you play a multiplayer campaign where you always control the army of the enemy of the other guy is playing? that sounds really cool.

I don't think so. Pretty sure the only way you can do that is through drop-in mode.

Head to Head mode gives you the option to play as the AI whenever your rival gets into combat with an AI.

The beta patch is already out. You just have to opt-in.

I still get terrible lag at times. I think most of it is bad pathfinding causing some loops. There might be a few memory leaks here and there.
AI turns in single player is much faster after the patch. Minor factions and offscreen factions have seen the most improvements.

Ah my bad, i thought the beta will come out for the main client soon

When you guys play campaign multiplayer, is the speed going twice (or 1.5x) as slow for you?
|
i already played more rome 2 in one week than shogun 2 since its release.
Last week i kinda had enough of grinding though.. so much endurance needed for lategame. at some point (almost) all the factions started to declare war on me, Like 1-3 factions per turn. i still have about 30 regions to conquer for the win....
I guess im gonna wait because ive played those siege battles almost a hundred times now and its getting boring. It was pretty awesome to fight one battle against the britons, the next against the egyptians and another one against macedons within one turn. But at some point it gets generic. Just too many battles. I just rush and take all their settlements, fight the rebels and go on to the next province. Since nobody defends their lands their armies are just starving and losing against the garrison.
Navies are a pain in the butt though. They always take small coastal settlements and run away. And sea battles are pretty stupid and chaotic. But in the end you just build navies because they are additional armies when youre maxed. And you need to deal with the enemy navies at some point...

You have to opt-in for it. "In your steam game library, right-click Total War: Rome II. Then choose Properties and select the BETAS tab. Finally select “patch2beta” from drop down list."
|
wow it is really cool to see how much improvement this beta patch actually brings. I'm hoping that CA and the modders can make this the second greatest TW game of all time, right after the perfect Medieval 1

It may be. But if it isn't, download it manually like so.

Getting it now. So basically, campaign and battle AI are both improved (more aggressive, less stupid) and AI turns finish faster?
