Here’s a sneak peek at something you won’t have seen before – the brand new Total War Launcher that’ll be shipping with ROME II. It brings a couple of cool new features, including the ability to “continue campaign”, jumping straight back into your last save game while skipping the intro cinematics. It'll also bring the latest Total War news and videos right to your window!
eh. bloody game launchers. did they explain how exactly that is going to work with steam? is it just going to be another interface between you and playing or does it circumvent steam in some way? i get the idea behind it, but i'm more often annoyed by games trying to use social networks to connect their players, than i find it useful. i hope you don't need an extra account for the Creative Assembly Social Club or something.
That's a good question, and something I'm wondering about too. I've played games that have a pop-up launcher after you begin the game (Stronghold Kingdoms is on Steam, though League and SC2 count as well even though they're non-Steam games). But I don't know how they'll do multiple games on the same launcher, as well as creating another account. Perhaps all of the TW games will run by starting the launcher first.
Edit: New video out, another Let's Play. This one is a human player (Macedon) vs. the A.I. (Rome)
"According to Sega, Total War: Rome II had over six times the number of pre-orders in its first official week compared to Shogun II, making it the fastest selling pre-ordered title in the series."
Well fans have only been waiting for a Rome sequel for nearly a decade. Shogun was anticipated, yes, but Rome II has had years of build-up and most see Rome I as the pinnacle of the series, so it's got an awfully high standard and anticipation to live up to, hahaha.

Same here I played Rtw and mods for years and years. Tried the other TW series but they just werent as good imo.

RTW EB was most awesome, but MTW1 was the best vanilla version!

Ugh, holy Lord, no. I hate Mistaken, thought you meant Medieval 2. X-D
Can't get Med 1 or Shogun 1 on Steam. Would like to complete the collection, but don't want to dish out a "TON" of extra money.
Thoughts and notes on that new video I posted earlier:
- This battle was against a Very Hard A.I. - I hope to goodness you can turn off that advisor. -_-' - No unit numbers; seems they care more about overall strength than specific numbers. Good for me, will prove less distracting, haha. - Music is okay, too "epic." Going to difficult to replace the iconic tracks of Rome I. - THAT INFERNAL, PERPETUAL HORN!! Lol. - When he zooms in on the Triarii, you can see their heads bowed in exhaustion. - The advisor and units had voices that sounded like the Roman voice actors of Rome I. I hope there's more acute differences in accents between factions and cultures. - (yay, they kept "shameful display!" :-D)

medieval gold edition is just 14 dollars on amazon
i got all except the last shogun. i started with medieval so i never got around to play shogun 1 for real, and my pc was too crap for shogun2 and by then i actually lost interest because mtw2, empire and napoleon all kinda dissapointed. i had some good fun but i never finished a campaign. i seldom do but atleast with mtw and rome i had ages of fun not finishing my campaigns XD

Am i the only one who wants numbers back? I hope there's an option
I mean, knowing that a unit has 53/200 or 40/75 left is imho more useful than seeing that it's health bar is halved or at 1/4, i can follow the rate of attrition much more intuitively, imho
The "tired" unit effect is awesome tho, do we know if there will be basic blood in the game? (bloody weapons and armors ala MTW2, not the ridiculous fountain effects we got in shogun 2 unless they're done in decent detail this time ^^)

Honestly, I found the numbers only serve as a distraction. I think they're wanting players to focus on the greater battle strategy and tactics than mere numbers. Surely CA will just provide an option to turn them on or off.
Regarding cosmetic blood, I've not seen any yet. Hopefully it's another option to switch on or off depending on player preferences.
...Now that I think about it, Shogun II didn't have any blood in it unless you bought the blood pack, am I right?

Not Sparta. Everyone and their newborn hamster is going to try to do Sparta, lol. X-D
Maybe. Probably. But not certainly. For versions which are restricted in germany, it usually works. However, a few dozen pages back someone had something that was restricted somewhere else because of something (i think it was no g4wl in his region), and in that case getting a key from someplace else doesn't work. (yeah, i know, awfully good information)
My personal experience has been that keys from other regions usually work for me, but you might want to look into your specific case before buying something for 50$.

Definitely! MTW1 was easily the one that I played the most since I don't like using mods.
Rome has the weird distinction of arguably being the worst in the series unmodded but the best one modded. It and MTW2 have the reputation of being the most easily modded games in the series. Rome had better support from modders because it was the first 3d game.
