It's always logical to lose a fan favorite and potential star player for no reason! ESPECIALLY when you can sign world-class athletes at a fraction of the price. Excellent choice Jimmy! ![]()

Smith who broke the news actually agreed with Dolan, ESPN "analysts" are qualified and know what they're talking about. Why would a fan ever give a shit about how much the owner has to pay if it doesn't in any way affect the team's on-court performance? Give Amare's uninsured knees 5 years, $100M, Melo's strong playoff first round exits 3 years, $65M, BUT DRAW THE LINE with Jeremy Lin!!! Chris Rock gets this right: http://twitter.com/chrisrock/status/225052794296610816 Jeremy linn I've never seen grown men hate on another mans money like this in my life . I have a hard time believing that Stephen A. Smith or any of these other guys would be hating on a black athlete getting paid. Melo talking about "ridiculous contracts," lmfao.

I thought we had that discussion months ago, and the conclusion was hes got lots to grow but hes got potential. Not only that, people are starting to hint at questions to his ethics and motives? Wtf is this? Where is SA Smith pulling this shit out of where JLin has a big head and thinks hes the shit, so basically he wanted to say fuck you to NYK? It's Stephen A Smith. Sometimes he has comes up with insane things to say about athletes.

good job dolan, i'm not even a knicks fan but i feel bad for them, from all of the terrible huge contracts they've signed in the past, to now they're attemp at their own 'big 3' they just gave up someone who invigorated their franchise, increased their sales and viewership by a ton during his non-injured month, and showed nothing but class and love for the city and the team when he was on it. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Good luck with a drunken old guy (sorry jkidd, i love you in fantasy but srsly?) and a fat ass (see TieN's post above). not that it matters, since melo will just do iso's all day with the ball. Tommy Beer lays out it pretty much for everyone: http://www.hoopsworld.com/knicks-lose-lin-get-nothing-in-return the knicks didn't need to choose between anyone, it was jsut a matter of getting some $ that doesn't even free up cap space. They're committed through 2015, and now have no young star PG to help carry the weight. And who says you couldn't have at least traded him for something else, draft picks, expiring contracts, youth, veterans, trade exceptions. the more i read the more i am dumbfounded how people who i'm sure are very smart in whatever line of business they do to be owners of a sportsfranchise, can be so goddamned stupid. AND the blind anger for lin in the light of this.

edit:I think no matter what the Knicks chose to do, they would have gotten some backlash for it tbh. maybe not as much, but the questions would still be there by people who question that ~40m he will cost that last year.

Seriously, especially if y ou read the SI.com link above, Lin was basically told to go to free agency, got ONE offer, was told not to compete in the playoffs, and now is being slammed as a money grubbing, entitled, lazy player who wasn't there for the team during the playoffs. Where was this talk when melo was out for months.

Trolling around nearly any Knicks fan forum will get you a shitload of 'fans' who espouse this theory. 'HE DIDNT PLAY IN THE PLAYOFFS AT 85%, SO FUCKING GUTLESS' And lol: http://www.forbes.com/sites/randalllane/2012/07/18/jeremy-lin-may-be-the-dumbest-harvard-grad-ever/2/
