Everyone thinks their region is the best, and will fight hard to represent that. It's the same in Japan but without all the salt and raging/insults/etc. You get, as an example, a 39 vs 39 men battle between representatives of certain prefectures.

Also even though this is a commercial the game itself seems quite interesting. I kind of prefer tag games over just 1v1 fighting games, they seem to have a lot more depth to them. Ultradavid wrote a pretty lengthy article on the demographic differences between the FGC and the Starcraft Community. I feel it's a mandatory read for anyone who wants to understand the FGC better. http://shoryuken.com/2011/12/12/guest-editorial-momentum-matters-a-historical-perspective-on-the-fgc-and-esports-communities-2/ Mainly, the FGC grew up in the arcades, and historically the most active ones were found in urban, inner-city areas; many of the most experienced people tend to be black, latino and asian. Also, income plays a role. Many of the people in the FGC cannot afford the computers needed to run SCII, but to play fighting games all you need is a console and/or access to an arcade or gaming center.

It's kinda bad imo how you can take more than half of someone's health when they can't do anything if you manage to just keep them airborne or stomp em when they are laying down Well, you can stop hwrong and eddie pretty easily, basing a game off when you just button mashed when you where 9 isn't much of a assessment. Go watch the korean tv show with ttt2 on it. The game is based around launching and juggles.

And less games + the inclusion of console games doesn't seem to be too good to me either. Well, the latter may be inevitable and not as bad but still...

XD Still, Tekken's the first FG that I started to take seriously, so I have a soft spot for it. On with UMvC3! I want Justin to bring it all the way back to Grand Finals vs. Combofiend!
