So The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is getting released soon, you can find it on steam.



At least it's not a FPS game anymore like it was earlier during it's development hell cycle. But it still looks like a far cry from what Xcom used to be.

Soooooo, this is Xcom meets Commander Shepard I guess.

I just played and finished Enemy Unknown, which I got from Steam and really liked it. This is a totally different thing and didn't quite catch my eye at all.

Yeah thats pretty much how it seemed like to me, might pick it up from steam sales if I hear anything good about it but definitely not pre-purchasing like I did with Enemy Unknown. Hoping we get a improved and polished sequel to Enemy Unknown one day.

so I was the one asking if I should do my first playthrough on ironman earlier... I played a little bit on vanilla normal difficulty no ironman and I could kind of see I'd be playing protect the sniper on most maps, I was having lots of fun but decided I'd go for a more hardcore experience. So I'm playing this mod on ironman. It's been an excruciating learning experience featuring several rage restarts within the first few missions since I'm learning how to play the game and how to play the mod at the same time, but highly entertaining.

EDIT: oh my god I'm watching that video and this guy is such a sac. best combat rolls.

EDIT EDIT: Also how does rocket scatter work?

It either hits or fails. If it hits (the % chance) it will hit wherever you placed it. If it fails it will scatter, and i don't know how exactly it works but it is what it says, the shot will scatter on a random direction a random distance. Normally it isn't much, sometimes it goes crazy tho.

Rockets have a set hit chance. I think it's 90%. If you successfully roll within that 90%, your rockets will be pinpoint accurate. For the other 10%, your rocket will veer off course.

In my experience, the target point of a missed rocket is always one blast diameter away from your original target. So basically, nothing in the original blast radius is touched. This is completely anecdotal evidence though.

The chances to hit and the scatter is a bit different in the mod. In vanilla anytime you failed it would scatter a lot yeah.

See fire? Run away.

It's also worth noting that fire can destroy cover in some places.

Finished Classic+Ironman finally after 7 restarts, even managed to get all of my 6 colonels killed and still recover with squad consisting of 4 squaddies, 1 sergeant and 1 Major. Now I know what people meant with the game getting easier towards the end. Had some major terror moments due to several enemy groups pretty much spawning on top of eachother, I'm not sure if thats random or an actual feature.

So at worst I was fighting Sectopod + couple various mutons + couple heavy floaters + 2 thin men + cyberdisc/2drone + 2 sectoid commanders and I'm not even exaggerating. I somehow made it through by heavy retreating and line of sighting them.

I never liked to out of los sectopods to be honest, they have the nasty habit of doing quite accurate barrage strikes on impossible. But congratz man, iroman always feels sweet.

Definitly worth it. I currently on a impossible ironman playthrough with the mod and seems like it's going to take a looot of time for me to complete it. It's quite awesome.

I dled the mod to try it out.

Yea, tried and done now. Restarted 5 times on classic already, keep getting these awesome abductions as the 2nd mission, you know where you at best have 3-4 squaddies to use, and the enemy presence is swarming. So I'll get pods of 4x secto + double 4x drone and one of them will always wander to the fight with any of the previous. Something will always hit through full cover and as soon as that happens, whole squad panics. Time to fire up the original and play with a game that has functioning cover.

huh ? I haven't had a single problem thus far, and i play on impossible.

I think only 1 Ironman run I can say was bullshit, and that was due to the old teleport bug where 2 packs of mutons (3 muts and a 2 mut zerker) spawned literally 2 squares from my team in full vision out of nowhere. Lost 3 instantly and ended up failing the mission and ragequitting.

Everything else was me playing incorrectly or taking a stupid risk.

This mod on normal without ironman is arguably harder than I/I vanilla. So yeah, this is meant for veteran players who are bored with vanilla XCOM and want an interesting challenge. It doesn't just make the game harder, but also much more interesting: 8 classes, 6-8 soldier slots, base buildings/foundry/OTS upgrade overhaul, air combat revamp, aliens upgrade, special leader/navigator aliens, and more.

V2.0, now in beta, really makes the game tremendously fun. There are so many choices, both strategic and tactical, to consider now.

I don't recommend playing this mod on ironman due to its very long length and its difficulty. At least until you get used to it, don't feel bad about save/reloading on occasion.
