Just lost everything to a terror attack, the game still seems hard enough, even though i made some stupid decisions that got me killed. But good to know its not going to be a breeze just yet. Good times so far. What killed you in that terror mission? This your 1st time playing x-com games?

Instead of sleeping I chose to watch a stream of someone playing xcom and now I'm sitting here quite tired at work, looking forward to EU release day... guess I'm sold on the game.

How is the MP? I saw the showmatch but it was rather "meh" to me at the time.

Hehe, I watched a guy play x-com ufo defense until 2:30 while he was waiting for new x-com to unlock on steam and then when I got up at 7:45 I watched the same guy play new x-com until I left for work. I am also pretty tired now :D

I am seriously displeased that it is not released simultaneously in US and EU. Ridiculous and shows an archaic mindset.
I will of course still buy the game on release day. But with a grumpy grunt!
|
I would like to say that I hate every american until the 11th of october... It's nothing personal, but I hope you all understand

tbh im torrenting it atm even tho i have bought it on steam. cba to have to wait for something left over from a different era. heck its even documented that a lot of pirating happens because of this very reason of delayed launches. But hey some people never learn.

Are there any real reason why so many games have delayed launch in the EU? Most answers I've seen is that since the games are made in the US mostly it takes longer to ship the games to other countries, which is sort of a moot point since the large majority of games is downloadable today.

Deals with publishers ect. There is no reason why it cant be at the same time. Even shipping is BS since by the time you distributed it across the US it can be in Europe already.

Still haven't heard any word on multiplayer... it kinda is the hinge factor for me buying it.

I don't think there's really much more to it than what was shown in the show match. I heard there are ranked matches though, but the only gameplay mode is what you saw. One versus one and you have a set amount of points you can spend on your squad and then battle it out.
In my opinion they could've left out the multiplayer completely.. I hope they don't have achievements for the MP, since I'm a completionist when it comes to these things and I don't plan to play MP at all

Actually MP in this game looks better and more interesting then SP. Campaign is a simplefied version of real x-com made for consoles and then ported to PC, but MP looks to have potential to give us real X-com with high death rate where your mistakes are punished instantly.

Why would that be, the MP has the exact same engine and mechanics as the singleplayer. Are you whining about the game, or the AI?
|
Well I mainly said that becaue I feel the MP is more tacked on than really fleshed out. You can waste a little time with it but there's really no benefit or incentive to really sink time into it, apart from competitiveness.
If you could unlock different things or level stuff up in the MP and would make any sort of progress, I'd play it as well.
|
achievments are useless why do you want that in mp? snd unlocking new and betterweapons sucks cause it is imbalanced only thing that would be nice is unlocking new armor/weapons or soldier skins, just cosmetic stuff

I never said I wanted achievements in MP. Apart from that I like them in some games if they're challenging or need you to do things you normally wouldn't do.
And yeah, I didn't really specify what kind of unlocks, but new skins and stuff like that would be nice. It shouldn't be mandatory to play a MP in a single player game, but at least there should be some incentive if they decide to include one.

The only "incentive" that matters is a fully fleshed out game that rewards skill and knowledge without seeming imbalanced.
