i want creo of bjarke to win the tourny
|
United States37500 Posts
They have SoJu or HoT to content with. Creo might do well since it's mirror. Bjarke if he can get to Castle and do this tier 3 magic. ;D
|
Grubby has to win vs 2 rounds of strong elfs. Both Carefly and Deadman are very strong. Carefly also beat grubby during his tour to Taiwan. I hope carefly will win though the chances are not great.
|
Carefly I don't know but Deadman would lose once more vs Grubby
|
Creolophus < fnatic.Vankor (Could go either way, Creo is very very good but hasn't been able to practice as much due to school connections, and Vankor is in great shape so I say he wins)
U5.Pato < fnatic.Bjarke (Another close one that could go either way. Pato has become soooo good as of late, but I don't know if he has what it takes to topple Bjarke)
WE.Sky > mTw.Zerter
mTw.winner.reset > lol_vx_xd
TmG)Homerunball < WE.Soju (Again, could go either way...)
4k.ToD > U5.Levin
SK.Hot > bgx.justdisel
mordack_pa < Giacomo
4K.FoV > Nightwolf
wnv.XiaoT > Neytpoh
4K.Grubby > Myth.Carefly
SK.Deadman/apm70 > Alt)flyshow
bu_hero < 3LFear
Mouz.BenQ.Shortround > janby
WE.Suho > mTw.Wizard
Mouz.Philbot < SK.Insomnia
------------------------------------------------------------------------
fnatic.Vankor > fnatic.Bjarke (Another close one, could go either way)
WE.Sky > mTw.winner.reset
WE.Soju > 4k.ToD (Could go either way...)
SK.Hot > Giacomo
4K.FoV > wnv.XiaoT
4K.Grubby < SK.Deadman/apm70 (Could go either way, but I'm going with "an upset". Deadman has been practicing hard in Germany as of late and should be well prepared)
3LFear < Mouz.BenQ.Shortround
WE.Suho > SK.Insomnia
------------------------------------------------------------------------
fnatic.Vankor < WE.Sky
WE.Soju > SK.Hot
4K.FoV < SK.Deadman/apm70 (Could go either way, but I'm going with "an upset" again.)
Mouz.BenQ.Shortround > WE.Suho (Very tough one to call... I'm going with Shortround out of American pride, but would not be surprised either way)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE.Sky > WE.Soju (So hard to call, but Sky has been really impressive as of late.)
SK.Deadman/apm70 > Mouz.BenQ.Shortround
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sky > Deadman
Soju > Shortround
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are my predictions, but admittedly the bracket could look completely different as so many of these matchups starting in round 2 are insanely close. Grubby could of course win the whole thing. So could ToD, or HomeRunBall, and maybe a couple of others. There are so many possibilities. But this is just what I think has a good shot of happening. I wouldn't bet a lot of money on any outcome though.
|
i predict deadman wins the whole thing, not sure vs who though
|
I wouldnt be surprised if he did either, but I picked Sky over him because Sky's timing is just incredible. And against Night Elf, if you have good timing it can be extremely difficult for the Night Elf to win.
But I would not be surprised if he did. I'd personally love to see that.
|
Creolophus vs fnatic.Vankor->vankor U5.Pato vs fnatic.Bjarke->bjarke WE.Sky vs mTw.Zerter->sky mTw.winner.reset vs lol_vx_xd->winner TmG)Homerunball vs WE.Soju->soju 4k.TOD vs U5.Levin->tod SK.Hot vs bgx.justdisel->hot mordack_pa vs Giacomo->giacomo 4K.FoV vs Nightwolf->FoV wnv.XiaoT vs Neytpoh->xiaot 4K.Grubby vs Myth.Carefly->Grubby SK.Deadman/apm70 vs Alt)flyshow->Deadman bu_hero vs 3LFear ->nocloue Mouz.BenQ.Shortround vs janby->short WE.Suho vs mTw.Wizard->suho Mouz.Philbot vs SK.Insomnia->insomnia
|
we all would like sky to win but honesetly he has to count on the uders to be eliminated by NEs before he has to play them. Seriously if he can't win fury then how the hell can he win against Fov?
suho better man up and win against wizard, that chump denied him acon4 title.
xiaot => nothing to worry about ^_^ but i don't expect him to take a title.
|
Wow wc3 sure lack of fans lol look at sc update vs wc3 update 60+ page vs lol 1 page sad.
|
It's a BW website. What did you expect?
|
Theres actually another thread for War3 WCG, so its more than one page.
Also take into account a large portion of the Brood War WCG threads are ACTUALLY about Bunny, therefore indirectly being about WarCraft 3, and you have a much higher number than there should ever be at a "Brood War" website =]

meh anyway xiaot lost to fov on twisted meadow

Surprised Levin took a map from ToD.
A little surprised Creo won, but I guess if he is in shape (which I doubted) then it's not a surprise at all, so hopefully he is, in which case I'd predict him to beat Bjarke.

yay xiaot won vs fov on LT the battle in the middle decided it all, fov lost his lich and DK really fast

indeed... i wanna see the grubby vs deadman replays ;/

y grubby took him 2-1 so should be interesting

i'd like any of these top 8 to win... sky/creo/tod/hot/fov/grubby/short etc...
they're all good

Fov lost, T-T. ORC IMBA vs UD, blizzard fix this shit plz....
|
what about UD imba vs HU ????
|
Ud is not imba vs HU, Sky beat Winner.Reset. If you know how to do your tank+gryphon + mass tower + mass expand+mass air ( spells: GAY STRAT ) properly, you can win pretty easily vs UD.
on a seperate note. Mouz.Shortround beat Grubby.. I'm SO HAPPY GRUBBY LOST!!!!
|
Sky beat Winner doesnt mean the fact that UD not imba vs HU . And Sky>Winner skillwise you speak like no UD ever win an Orc before lolz

HOLY SHIT GRUBBY LOST TO SHORTROUND

yeah Sky will make it this time .... Human power !!!!!!!!!!!

Then tell me WHEN has a top UD beaten a top ORC of comparable skill when its a very important game? FoV vs XiaoT does come to mind but IMO FoV is simply the better player and even then the matches were close.
Did you ever try to play UD vs ORC before? I can't express the frustration.... I can micro better, kill his hero N times in early/mid game. But once he gets that tier 2 expansion up and start massing air and Attack move and spam spells, its GG.
|
OMFG SKY HERO !!232323 PLZ WIN THIS TOURNY! WE'VE BEING WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG.
|
I'd say that it's about time an American player made a considerable splash in the War3 (or RTS for that matter) scene, and that Shortround is the perfect guy to do it =)
|
fov beat grubby at eswc 2005... but since there was a tie-breaker he didn't advance :/
and uhm... why aren't they releasing the replays...?
|
they probably will sometime in the next couple of weeks. i think thats what theyve done in the past is hold em for a week or two then release all of them at one time.

I totally agree on the "I can't express the frustration..." part (on the rest aswell). And the orc doesn't have to spam spells, wyv/bats on bloodlust rape anything you'll throw out at them. He only needs to perss 1, a, click, 2, a, click, enter, gg, enter sit there and relax drinking coke and smoking a cig while undead player is sweating and doing wonders at 150% of his capabilities in a vain effort to do anything.
|
I really hope Shortround wins - granted I play Human, it'd be nice to see a North American player win.
|
wtf shortround vs sky. Hope short wins because I don't like sky's playstyle nor do I think he is good eventho he beat Tod again. 3rd place is a guaranteed win for grubby.
|
KK won't be updating or posting anything here again since I'm sick of the mentality of the admin team and 80% of the posters. I bid you farewell.
|
tod > creo > xiaot > pato
|
Sky or Short winning would be cool with me. I like Sky because he's one of two humans that actually wins things now and Short because of his play at WCG last year.
|
|
|
I doubt Shortround will win, Sky is on fire and has such great timing vs Elf.
But, Shortround IS still trying to make me look good for my loss to him in WCG, so he's got an obligation to fulfill
|
Actually, Creo DID take a map from Sky. Without knowing any of the circumstances behind the matches, I might have to second-guess myself and say Shortround has a very realistic chance of winning.
|

Not sure if you'll see this, but if you do, care to elaborate?
I'm not sure which of the admins you're referring to or in what light, but in regards to WarCraft 3 they've been surprisingly passive and have never caused any problems that I'm aware of. Well, the REAL staff anyway. There's 1-2 newsposter type people that occasionally do, but I think that's more for shits and giggles due to the sheer ignorance of what they post in comparison to how they normally are.
As far as some of the posters... People will be ignorant and rude where ever you go. While this place may not be perfect, it's a lot better than many places out there and I wouldn't let it get to you too much.
You've been a great poster here, it would be a shame to see you go.

He's talking about Rek. And it had nothing to do with WC3, it was in the WCG.sc threads.
|
What happened there (as it relates to SunShine)? I saw the one about Wufan but didn't read it all.
|
sky so fucking deserves this. you guys don't know the conditions he trains under, in china if you play pro then it means you get shitz (like 1 dollar for food and sleep on the chair in netcafe). Last year he aruged with his parents and promised if he doesn't win something big this year then he will go back to finding a job. he's fighting to keep his dream alive! he will win
|
Well, he already won Acon5, that's pretty big.
But I have to agree, he does deserve this win more than Shortround. Shortround even said himself he hasn't been practicing much because of school, and I know Sky has been going all out preparing.
|
Sky is known as the most hardworking Chinese WC player. Suho once said in an interview that he see Sky train nonstop and don't sleeep and he feels guilty that sky trains so much and he seem lazy in Comarison.
Seems like WE.Sky is here to finish off what ChinaHuman came so close to doing a couple years back
Oh sole-steeler, in ESWC2005, FoV beat grubby in 1 game during the group stage. Subsequently, Grubby went on to rape Sweet, Reign ( Both top korean UDs ) and win the tourney. FoV was knocked out by deadman.
I'm VERY VERY hAPPY that somebody RAPED grubby, he always takes out my favourate UD player from the tournament.
|

What? Where did you read this...
|
i dont know much about wc3 but the first final game was a total rape yes?
|
Yes it was a rape, but not because Sky was better.
It's one of the few "imbalances" Human has. There's really nothing an Elf can do at all to counter a Human tower rush from close spawns, due to militia.
|
Tower rush + moonwell focusage = GG shortround
|
holy shit, the first game wc3 grand final sky (human) vs a usa player (night elf), sky raped him less than 7 mins, lmao massive tower (~6 ) owned that NE base so hard, gfg!
|
Oh fuck... Sky raped Shortround with tower rush in 5 min..wtf.
next maps are
LT EI
both very good for sky
|
Can anyone explain to me how LT favors Human ?
|
I predict
Sky fast expoing on LT, prolly doing tier 2 mass gyro. shortround do mass tier 1 suicide attack. Sky will rape shortround IMO
|
Easy to secure expansions, large map where you generally have to move around the center, plenty of creeps, etc.
Under the current meta-game, it's more of an Orc map than anything, but it's absolutely the worst Night Elf ladder map, so it will favor the Human in this case.
|
wtf.. shortround tower rushing Sky....
|
|
|
its over.. Sky is WCG champion

SKy is WCG champion, confirmed now!

Why don't they use some map like Maelstrom or Silvermoon for WCG?
|
On November 19 2005 20:30 ComicBookArtist wrote: Can anyone explain to me how LT favors Human ?
in LT, the expo is close enough to the main that you can millitian creep and millitia defend your expo when needed. So almost all HU fast expand on this map. Thats exactly what sky did, he used this advantage nicely. If the game had been played out normally instead of shortround doing the rush, think sky would've gon mass tower gyro, which is nearly impossible to beat with NE I'm happy sky won!!!

Grubby won vs TOD for 3rd place if anybody cares. Score is 2:1
|
51576 Posts

TOD even used the sky fast tower push strat vs grubs but its obvious that he doesn't have SKY's micro. Oh. if you watch the semifinals game bet TOD and SKY you'll see that TOD's really BM, he whines every game he lose and never says GG. SKY on the other hand said GG when he lost and was mannered. Its a HU vs HU or else TOD might start whining about racial imbalance.

i hope 8da.2k (aka chinahuman) is watching this. I would be so emotional if i was in his position. chinahuman is known as the best achiever in bost sc and wc but now finally after all these years, chinese gamer finally won a world championship.
Home.Sky, remember this ID folks. He is now immortal.

Is there a full replay pack yet?

war3.replays.net has all the replays, but didn't have them all in one file when I looked.

All of the replays (well, most; apparently some players forgot to save their games...?) can be found on the WCG website
|
just out of curiosity, how big is WCG to war3 players? I am asking cause i think most players for sc would rather win a starleague rather than a wcg or is that wrong too?
|
WCG is I think probably the most prestigious tournament... But ESWC is regarded equally as high, if not higher.
WEG and Acon are both big, but are much smaller competitions so aren't as highly valued I think.
|
Is Ben_Landed the uk player any good? Heard he defeated some SK player which is pretty impressive!

By the way, I was a referee for the TFT section of WCG, so let me know if you have questions ooa
I don't know much about the war3 community though! About Ben, the UK player--I think he was involved in a playoff to see who qualified from his group, but I guess he failed. I was in charge of one of the playoffs on the second day of group stage, between Fire (Austria), Paladyn (Poland), and Pato (Brazil or something :O). The first playoff went Fire > Paladyn, Pato > Fire, Paladyn > Pato. Therefore we got to have ANOTHER round of playoffs. That time Pato beat both Paladyn and Fire, so we were done. It was like 10 PM when we finally finished that though. Blah! (Referees left the hotel at 8 AM each morning)

Heh, ref'ing for WCG must've taken a lot of energy. And yes PaTo was the Brazilian representative. =)
|
ESWC, ACON, WEG, WCg are like the four grand slam of war3. I believe ESWC is very european dominated, WEG is a korean show, ACON was only held twice but i think its shifting towards Chinese dominated because its held in China -_-, WCG is a bastard case, no korean has won a title yet -_-.
|
that's a good thing . Dont want they dominate like they do it BW .
|

Seems like the home advantage plays quite a role =P
Not sure if it really does or not, but just reading over your post, I realized that in a lot of cases it is that way... Except of course when FoV won ESWC 2004. Though it helps that the majority of players are European.
|
no korean won coz MOON didn't attend WCG... he got knocked out by FoV in the korean qualifiers and FoV got knocked out by imba orc grubby. WC3 is a lot less balanced than SC and item...etc.. other luck factor plays a role ( sky even said so himself in the interview after winning vs TOD regarding how the lightning wand drops ). So the kors can't pwnz like they do in SC.
|
the better player will still win though
|
there should not be any single eliminations in war3. It's also very sad and ironic at the same time to see WEG making maps to counter Moon's domination.
|
Aye, the better player can win regardless of advantage his oponent might have.
|
On November 21 2005 18:27 haduken wrote: there should not be any single eliminations in war3. It's also very sad and ironic at the same time to see WEG making maps to counter Moon's domination. |
Like I've said, Undeads are becoming stronger and learning to counter Elves, which is why Undeads are becoming increasingly difficult for Elves these days.
|

Soon we will see "Imba UD!" commentaries all over the net ^_^
|
UD is only imba vs HU on some maps and vs Elf on non tavern. HU is imba vs everything on LT NE is imba on all tavern maps and big maps ORC is just.... always imba.
|
I think that games have luck involved, even with sc (scouting the correct spot etc.) But on the long run, skill prevails.
Yes, some games have more luck than others, and some are based on luck only (ie dice rolling).
And no, i dont think that Bo3 without losers bracket is long enough run to analyze skill in wc3.. however Sky is really great player, deserved to win. But im not quite sure about shortround, i dont think he should have finished top4, he is good player with exceptional manner, but not the best of his race in my opinion.
I cant see the imbalance, and i think people should rather switch race than whine.. or switch the whole game.. But yeah, the game was badly imbalanced at some point, and im glad that its fixed.
|
If someone knows link to full pack tell us plz

i can only think of one NE player in the wcg that i think is equal or pass shortround's skill. WE.Soju a 2nd tier korean pro, shortround did very good last wcg too so people lets not forget that.

Yeah, and both WEG and WEG II.

What's the world rankings? I thought there like only two Human Alliance players in Top 30... I don't know/remember where I saw this list.

Deadman is as good as Short or SoJu I would think.
On a somewhat related note, the game between Bjarke and Qpool.Neytpoh in the group stages is very good, 40 minute game on LT with lots of expansions, spells, ultimates, etc.
|
Deadman is IMO one of the best Elves in the world... The best Elf in WCG imo, not really sure why he lost to Grubby and Short didn't though.
I dunno what the maps were, but my best guess is just that Shortround knows Grubby better and has played him much more and was better suited to his style of play, whereas Deadman isn't and was probably quite a bit more nervous.
Shortround didn't expect to go far and so probably wasn't as nervous.
|
I heard somewhere that Deadman does tend to get nervous on LAN/under pressure. He's very good though. Not sure about Grubby v Short, haven't seen the reps yet. I think I'm gonna go do that now, actually.
|
I was watching this replay from semis and this undead player sold an item that gave his goulies vampiric touch (he wasnt using the hero with the aura either). I always thought those aura items were the best because they will slightly help out your WHOLE army? So why do they always sell theese?
Guess i don't understand this game at all -_-
|
Well, they only help out melee units like ghouls, grunts, etc etc. The reason he sold it is because he thought that the gold was worth more than the vamp aura. It's also possible he didn't have much space on his heroes for items and sold it to make space for something more important, but mostly likely just the gold.
