GAME LET ME GO!!! Just lose 17000 souls and alt+f4. Easy. (fucking doors hatin' on my sword) Only time I ever raged quit was when I got cursed for like the 3rd time in a row. I actually returned the game the second time I got cursed. Probably the most poorly designed mechanic in any game, ever. thats a stupid reason to quit, considering it barely take any time to get enough souls to get a purge stone. also, i never understood the problem in the depths, the 1st time i ever went through there i didn't even know the frogs cursed you and i made it all the way through without dying. What? Where I was at, it would take a couple hours to grind the souls enough to get it banished by the guy on the church. I only have one or two hours to play of games a day, I'm not going to waste my time grinding because of a poorly designed game mechanic. I don't see how that's a stupid reason to quit -- not wanting to waste time on grinding. If there's any easier way than what I said (I was at the part before the gaping dragon) please do tell. If I ever consider buying the game again I don't want to have to go through the horse shit of grinding a couple hours worth of souls... you can farm 500 souls in about 40 seconds where the dragon is on the bridge and buy purging stones from the merchant in the sewers that connect lower undead burg and firelink...

Nah I read that when it happened, and that person in the sewers wouldn't let me talk to them. Either I whacked them early in the game or it was bugged. Where the heck was I supposed to find out about the dragon farming thing though? It took a couple hours near the gaping dragon, which was the farthest progress in my game just killin' crap around there.
Seriously though, then you have to factor in travel time between places just to remove a stupid status effect that halts your progress. It's a couple hour affair each time you get cursed. I just don't have time for badly designed mechanics like that. A smart developer would just put it on a small timer or give an easier option to get it removed. I don't see what it adds to the game at all. I think it's fine to lose all your souls if you die twice, but the curse thing isn't even fun. It's just -- get curse, grind souls, remove it. How is that fun?

I LOVED the game up until that point. It was such a stupid, game breaking mechanic for somebody who doesn't have much time to play games everyday like me. I got cursed a third time, which means 3 days of gaming for me was wasted, and I just returned it. It was that stupid of a mechanic.
Maybe it's fine for people like you who probably play for more than a couple hours.

It does take a couple or a few hours to cure a curse if you consider the travel time to the gaping dragon area (where you get it, at least where I got it) and the grinding it takes to get that many souls. Especially if you die a couple times to the guy on the stair before the gargoyles, which happened once to me. Got one shotted instantly.
Wouldn't have a problem with getting one shotted if a curse wasn't on the line. Such a dumb, frustrating game mechanic. Enough to break the game for me.
The funny thing is, I never died on any of the bosses up to the gaping dragon(except once to the guy with the two dog things) but the curse mechanic was so frustrating that I couldn't play the game anymore. I hope someone invents a mod on the PC version so I can play it without having to waste time.

guys, how can you blame some1 for hating the game? didnt you hate it when u first played it w/o any help?
i personally was close to throwing my ps3 pad around (the first time i had this feeling after demons souls) its fucking hard if u dont know the tricks . fuck those stupid gargoyles w/o drakefang sword.
now i run through the game in a few hours ,being at pvp lvl and having all the gear i want ... but for the first time it really sucked! until u got that stupid boss down, which was the greatest feeling ever.
|
grinding levels wont help you much in this game compared to other games, learning dodge directions and timings will do you wonders.
also wtf there is a fast mid and fat roll?, i assume that means with equip loads?
|
I don't understand the complaints about curse. I got cursed once and my weapon broken shortly after that, I raged like hell but it was easily fixed. I've played 20 hours since then and haven't been cursed a single time. You don't even have to engage the frogs in the depths, you don't HAVE to fall down that hatch to make progress.
|
I havent been cursed ever. I saw itmejp get cursed once, looked annoying, so I made sure I wouldn't and I also bought purging stones preemptively just in case.
This game is way better if you use your head to think instead of bashing it against a brick wall BUT either one will work.
If I die to a boss, while Im killing trash Im thinking of what i could have done better.

i'm calling you a complete liar, no one who 1 shots all the bosses and then quits the game because of curses, much less gets killed by the rapier undead on the stairs in the undead parish. the only time i ever got cursed was on seathe the 1st time i ever did him, and i died probably 5-6 times taurus demon, and a hell of a lot of times on the gargoyle's. i never 1 shot any boss in the entire game on my 1st character.
|
I think I found the most annoying part of the game. Duke's Archives after the prison area when you're supposed to go to the crystal cave. I've died like 10 times so far in really annoying ways.
|
Getting the secret Slab was a major pain because I am playing in offline mode so no hints.
I found the tail cut on seath to be down right AWFUL though.
|
I guess you speak about the blue slab where you have to take an invisible path. There you can use those prism stones to evaluate if a hole is dangerous or not. You make 5 steps, throw another stone. That way you're marking the floor up to the slab and the way back is no problem.

It's also not even that hard to avoid their poison. Like, at all.

ya, I found the sewers to be the easiest lvl because you can get around the level quickly from the bonfire. the boss is like 2 steps away and hes super easy too. missed his tail tho i got cursed once then i just started using a halberd to kill those disgusting frogs from afar. EZ

Just so you know, you don't even need to be in the area with the cursing frogs, that's just an extra bit for loots or if you fall down a hole.

Game kicks his ass -> Game is poorly designed.

Sold by Oswald of Carim (3,000) after the Belfry Gargoyles in Undead Burg (max 5). Sold by the Undead Merchant (female) (6,000) in the Undead Burg. Trade in a cracked red eye orb with Snuggly the Crow for two stones.
If you are really out of options you could just return to Snuggly and trade it for free. Anybody feel that some of the monsters in this game are disgustingly designed? Like those big big frogs, big mosquitos etc D:

Yes, definitely. Especially when they're dead and their dead bodies get stuck on your legs and flail around. Gives me the creeps.

They are also dropped by those walking clam folks in Ash Lake and the Crystal Caves.
You can also visit Ingward to have a curse broken at the cost of 1 humanity.
