[TL]Hanabi - US West 4 [TL]Ohana - US East 4 [TL] Destination East 4 |
Just play Simcity 4 - I've probably put 8 hours into it the past three days, I've got four inter-connected cities, three are "feeders" to the main city, with the main city tile having 280k+ sims, and 8 full-capacity rail lines feeding into the city core, which is a massive block of high-density commercial, mixed in with commercial cap-busters. WIth the NAM mod (which is new to me), traffic pathing is VERY good, although vanilla SC4 pathing is pretty decent too. It's pretty rewarding to plan out and build up your rail network, and see the city respond by putting down skyscrapers around your rail stations.
Even after server problems are resolved for SC5, the engine is seriously flawed, and I doubt it can ever achieve the scale or complexity of SC4.
By scale, I mean this:
http://simcityforum.com/showthread.php?t=199&page=18&p=9058&viewfull=1#post9058
This dude has a city that has a total population of 23 million, with a city core of 4 million. It has over ten airports and seaports.

I'm telling you, play Simcity 4 with NAM.

Update: 03/09/2013
SimCity Update 1.3
This update to SimCity contains the following updates and fixes:
General
• Fix for a crash related to the highway interchanges and vehicles. • Traffic was optimized for complex road sections. • Fix for a specific case of city processing that forced players to rollback their cities to a previous state. • Fix for a crash some players saw when exiting their city. • Rapidly clicking or accidently double clicking the Claim city button will no longer create multiple regions. • We temporarily removed filtering by friends and maps on the Join Game screen to better support database performance. Players can still find friends' regions by going to their friends' profile pages.
Servers
• Various database optimization to address issues with connecting to our servers • We've added 8 new servers (Oceanic 2, NA East 3, NA West 4, EU West 5, NA West 3, EU East 4, NA East 4 and EU West 6).

If we believe that patch, it seems like a good one (regarding traffic that is). Still, I doubt the traffic problems were not noticed before and I wonder if the solution is something that could be made in a matter of days, why was it not done before?
Im still on the fence with this one...My head says no...but it is simcity o.O

I hope they work a little more on some of the social features of the game. Especially finding an appropriate game to join and the region chat.
Apart from that I've had quite some fun building some cities so far.
I wanna try build a gambling town next, but I'm still a little bit lost if I should build any other infrastructure regardless (as in factories etc.).

I did notice some improvements when the traffic is getting high, cars start taking alternate routes.

Has anyone gotten the inter-city trading to work? I was under impression that peeps can go and work in other cities, shop in other cities, that I could trade water / electricity with other cities etc, but I can't seem to be able to do anything like that. I know I have to build city hall upgrades to "trade" police cars etc.
Am I doing something wrong, or are those features broken right now? Playing an area SOLO seems completely pointless if cities cant interact with each other.

I second this.

Managed to create a private region on US east 2 called Korpulu Sector, add me:Spyfire242 if you wanna join the region
Edit1: Never mind, the servers are still unstable, still add me if you want to make a private region at some point.

Yeah I managed to make the inter-city play works with my play last night. I manage to set up a city that would be utilities provider for my casino city. Also my sims would travel to work in another city too which cause me a traffic problem during morning and evening.

What is required? I have 60MW free (tradable) in city #1 (which I own). Both cities have same highway going through them. Yet when I go to my city #2 (new city, I own this too), it says that city #1 has 0MW tradable / doesnt offer anything.

There should be a setting on your power plant/s that you can check to let other cities in the region buy electricity from.

Just bought it in english but it downloads on portuguese without an option to change. Why ask for language on purchase anyway? Now I must change Origin's language and redownload the entire damn game.

Are we talking about Sim City 2013 here? I only see two checkboxes in my oil power plant: "accept local oil" and "accept global oil"?

It sounds like there might be a bug on your region.
First you need to have excess in whatever utility You have to be in region mode, loaded in the site that needs an utility an you can buy from there.
Also if you are loaded in a city (region mode) with an some services to spare like Fire/Police/Ambulance you can send trucks and cars over to cities that might need it.

Alright. Thanks. One more question. This works in single player, right? No need for other human players?

u either go in the region view and click on electricity or you go in the building menu for electricity and in the bottom right you see from whom you are buying and then you can click on that play icon that say go to region to interact with your neighbours. Works for everything like that
