The bugs were to be expected but what they did is complete and utter bullshit. They reduced number of spawns all over the game *RAGE* As I was playing I noticed something is wrong and then i went to surf a bit and found out alot of people are complaning and raging at that change.Where before you were attacked by a group of bandits/xvarts/wolves now you get attacked by one, gnoll fortress and xvart village have at least half the amount of mobs and the random encounters are easier as well. So pathetic move for damn new players ![]()

I decided to play a swashbuckler (which I will eventually take to BG2EE and dual to a mage). How should I distribute my thief and weapon skills? My first instincts tell me to completely ignore stealth/move silently/open locks and instead max detect traps and illusions. I'll dual wield some combination of longswords/shortswords/scimitar(katana in bg2), but don't really remember the items in BG1 at all. Any recommendations? Thanks for the help.

Possibly one more, (I played BG2 more and liked having 2 arcane/divine each, though that's not as important in BG1). I may go with Safana or Coran for a ranged character I decided to play a swashbuckler (which I will eventually take to BG2EE and dual to a mage). How should I distribute my thief and weapon skills? In my opinion, Shar'teel is the best thief in the game (Coran does more damage, but has bad trap skills), and she is evil, so you might want to consider giving traps/stealth to her and locks/illusions to charname. Just an idea ![]() As for weapons, Drizzt scimitars are the best in the game, especially if you are not backstabbing (the quarterstaff +3 would be better for a backstabber). They have added some new weapons though, and I have not seen them all yet. You can get good shortswords quite easily, so they are always a good option too. ---- I dont understand why there are so many fanboys defending this product. The lack of spawns is the icing on the cake. The developers are incompetent.

Either way I'm not attached to the 6th slot; I can definitely finish the game with 5 party members (hell, 4 are more than enough even without knowing the game too well, given how strong Kaigan/Dorn, Edwin, and Viconia are). And yeah I have to dual wield something since Swashbucklers don't get any backstab multipliers. I don't know how buggy the game is, I just hope they apply fixes within a reasonable amount of time.

If you are only running one thief you want 100 in find traps, and the remainder in locks.

By the way - has anyone legitimately killed Drizzt by directly engaging him and actually withstanding his damage? It would be easy in BG2 due to mage protections, Lower Resistance, and Greater Malison, but BG1 is a different story...

He does not have a great deal of hit points (about 90), but he has a very strong AC. Just apply buffs that boost your thaco and land a few surprise attacks (you have better thaco when attacking from invisible). Drizzt has a good thaco so he will land 95% of his attacks, he attacks at least 2.5 times per round and he hits hard. AC is useless against him so just stack hit points, and he cannot hit you while invisible anyway.

Maybe also the fact that Dorn is insanely OP while Rasaad is completely garbage? How about that new enhanced GUI, that looks worse than the classic one? Or how about that sublime comic book cinematic, where still picture Sarevok strangles the poor bhaalspawn, and we get to see a close up of his head popping like a cartoon balloon. I also loved the touch where they also removed dialog from the intro, along with the Nietzsche quote. And who cares if i encountered around 8-9 bugs during my first hour of play, it's most definitely money well spent. They are better then most vanilla ones. Dorn is not OP, not any more then Minsc or Edwin. Rasaad is garbage because monks are garbage at low level. Garrick is also garbage. Yes there are OP and garbage characters in BG1, what of it? New UI looks better, I don't know what you are smoking. As for new cinematics that is matter of personal preference, I don't mind it. In my opinion old animation was bad even when the game was out originally (well not the presentation but the substance). Dialogue was spoilerish, I was glad it was removed. I encountered only druid shapeshifter AC bug (resolved by quicksave->quickload; takes about 1s), and not being able to scroll with mouse wheel my guys inventory in buy/sell screen. Also I got extra icon on UI that also says Rest. No important bug for me. I didn't try MP, I hear that one is pretty buggy. But since MP wasn't good in vanilla I don't expect much from it anyways. And they promised it will be working eventually, which is more then vanilla+mods can ever promise.
