(meaning you hardly goes beyond lvl 7/8) It depends, if you plan on playing BG2 why not. Also, it's not like you only play 1 character, but up to 6 at the same time, so you shouldn't worry that much about it.

I think they could only add dialogue between each of new NPCs and your character. I just had Dorn have a short banter with Xzar about not being safe to trust, so there seems to be some added content there.

Edit: I might replace the monk with minsc... thoughts?

Minsc will almost certainly be better in combat than the monk. He can cause some issues with your party - you'll be locked into Dynaheir, unless you use some of the little tricks that can unlock paired characters. So you might be better off with Kagain, Shar-Teel or Ajantis, depending on the ideology you want your party to follow.

Summoning meatshields will be your friend here; against most encounters summoned meatshield + arrow (or otherwise ranged) spam works better than any other tactic. I am also using Rasaad(Monk), Dorn (Blackguard), Female true neutral cleric, can't remember her name, Neera(Wild Mage), and Imoen (thief). I just cleared the mines, and though I have had to reload a couple times when a character died and i didn't feel like finding a temple, mostly I haven't had much difficulty. I have also managed to complete all the side quests I have encountered so far except for 1 or 2 where I haven't been able to find the next step of the quest. Dorn is quite beastly, he has been a HUGE help in taking up the slack from Rasaad I think. edit: also I purchased a neckless from one of the merchants that had 10 charges for a fire ball type spell that did 6d6. It made the mine pretty easy to clear out.

That's interesting. I don't have BGEE, so it's interesting that all three of the new npcs are available so early.

When I first played baldur's gate, I really enjoyed it, but I kept forgetting what I was supposed to do and couldn't find out where to go. It really ruined the experience, even though I really liked the game. That feature alone(and the cheap price I guess) made me rebuy this game(doubt I even have my old cds anymore) so that I can actually enjoy playing the game this time around.

Overall, it seems to me that this applies to the whole game... I can feel that it could be absolutely awesome but there's so many very little things (bugs, balance,...) that add up it's annoying. I'm really hesitating between keeping playing because it's still cool or waiting for a couple patch.

Level 1 D&D on the other hand is bugging the shit out of me. I kind of wish they started with BG2
