I feel I should try something different for this playthrough but I don't know what, shapeshifter is a good idea for a BG1 char because they stop leveling at lvl 13/14 I think which is definitly not an issue in BG1.
What other classes can be fun to play in order to mix it up and change my experience of the game? I always played a fighter in BG1, a killing machine always... Well they didn't exsist in BG1, unless you were using Tutu or something, so you know... its something different!
Side note: Is BG1 EE still modable and can I use my mods that link it to BG2?

Ranger -> Cleric is cool.
Iirc you get Druid spells whiteout the "problems" that arise from the "Druid-Gap" (could be that it only goes for dual class, not switch).
But in general Ranger/Cleric is the better Fighter/Cleric... Which i allways found fun to play.

You can play that melee bard for a similar but a bit different experience. Paladins are also always fun, there are a couple of situations in the game where if you are a paladin you get different responses and options.

Beamdog: "Let's take BG1 which is available for very cheap if people don't already own it, re-create a few mods which are available for free already, and charge $20 for it."
Video gamers: "TAKE MY MONEY!"

Old Video gamers angry at all the crappy modern RPGs: "TAKE MY MONEY!" I fixed it for you.

Hmm, for a dual weilder, warrior 1 -> ranger 1, or ranger 1 -> warrior 1 ? Many years i don'tplay AD&D

Golem.de tested it and said:
- It's using native Windows solution.
- Experiencing some crashes.
- NPCs don't behave as usual.
- Permanently connected to a Beamdog account.
In general, why should someone prefer it to the classic with mods?

Well I'm sure there are bugs that need to be ironed out but isn't that expected for any game. It's not like they're just releasing the game and never patching it again. And even with the modded original, it's not like it was perfect. There are definitely incompatibilities with different mods and other performance issues. I had to disable some mods in BG2 because all of a sudden it started lagging like crazy.
Not sure why people are so hung up on the beamdog thing. I used beamdog to download the game and that's it. It's not like you need the beamdog client to be running to launch or play BGEE. I just launch the game separately and no problems.
In general I feel the main draw is convenience and better compatibility with modern systems. No need to tinker with mod installs that take forever. And god forbid you want to remove a mod component because Weidu makes you uninstall all the mods after the one you want to remove and then reinstall everything. If BGEE gets rid of the need for 50% of these mods then it's worth it for me.

Personally, I don't like having dozens of accounts.
Page 74 talks about a lot of issues. I probably wait half a year and check it out again.

I was so engaged with Baldurs gate EE today I forgot IPL 5... For a while
|
|
|
I wont get it unless they remove the fps cap. i played baldurs gate 20 times at least for sure , and im so used to 60 fps that everything else would feel horrible.

I don't know what to think when BGEE crash...

I've experienced a strange bug in several situations where if I move out of the area (via stairs/door) while the NPC is casting a spell and it's still in the spell's "ball" phase, the NPC will disappear when I come back like 9 times out of 10. If I want to dodge spells, I must wait until the spell is "released" as a projectile, then leave area.
Just a heads up to be careful so you don't lose any essential NPCs.
|
Or maybe not all of us want to use this exploit to dodge spells
|
I don't see why you would think of it as an exploit. You move to where the spell can't hit you. There's no reason it should work differently. Unless the game bugs out, the NPCs will actually follow you into the new area, so it's all working as intended. In fact, NPCs will occasionally do the same thing as well by entering a building to get away from you.
Anyway, I was just pointing it out to people so they don't get accidentally stuck and have to reload from an old save.

Oh man, I really want to play it but I experience massive lag in game and choppy videos. Currently, it is unplayable for me. Now I am reading through the forums to find a solution to my problem (apparently laptops with intel and nvidia graphics card seem to have a lot of issues...) but so far nothing helped. T_T
edit: and now I got it fixed, hooray. Time to relive good old times!

This isn't a big improvement to the original game, but it has some some minor tweaks and additional content, so i don't regret getting it. Tried a bard, because i've never played one before and i didn't even play BG1/2 IWD1/2 with a bard. What a weird class, but let's see how he'll do once my Skald is higher than lvl 3. The one thing that really annoys me is how inconsequently they changed the journal. Or is it bugs?

Anyone else got crazy flickering in the menus when playing in full screen?

Actually It is one of new features added by BGee, I personnaly love it.
One of the new PC is a monk, can they become any good with the xp cap of BG1 ? (meaning you hardly goes beyond lvl 7/8)
