I was going to replay the entirety of Baldur's Gate for a while anyway, but I don't want to wait for BG2 extended edition to be able to continue with the BG1 character. I'll just stick to the originals then.

It is basically a standard game installer that can also check for new version of game. It shuts down once the game is started (unlike Steam).

And I would like to say, for the record, that I'm not mad at all about BGEE, I'm just not impressed by the video and I'm surprised people aren't critical. When this thread started, when BGEE was announced, the main thing people DIDN'T want was a slightly updated version which would be made more so for iPad than PC. It seems to be the case, very much so, yet now, people are suddenly really enthusiastic about it, which I find weird. I guess people just got used to the fact that they won't do anything special, and then turned enthusiastic as release got closer. Personally, I expected extremely little, and I got about as much as I expected. I find it really weird that they still use that outdated crappy inventory, those were the things I were hoping would be vastly improved. I am critical and have been so recently in this thread. But, if the awesome infinity engine modders get onboard with this then I will too. I have not looked into what this remake offers to modders yet. I will read up on that if I can tonight, and if it offers new modding options then I will buy it and have a go at making a mod or two.

I know earlier in development developers were talking about the game making it easy for players to turn on different mods without going through the previous tedius install routine. I am not sure if that was implemented but that alone would make is so much easier for everyone.

If they make it easy enough for modders to move on to BGEE and give them new options, that's honestly the biggest "good thing" about the rehash IMO.

Messing around with 20 different mods is time and stress I don't want. I'm prepared to pay for a tested updated version of BG that works without me doing anything. They have ported it to the iPad. They are charging what I think is a fair price for the product. The money I spend may encourage them to port other titles like Icewind or Planescape. This may introduce what are some amazing games to a new audience. That's just my own feelings. glgl

Combat was a joke, graphics weren't all that great, but everything else was incredible. My favourite game of all time. As for BGEE, I just saw that even if you download the game you can't play it. I guess everyone is slowly learning from Blizzard...

A rehashed Planescape would make more sense than both Arcanum and BG1. It is not only superior but it could also use a rehash the most out of all those titles. PT was unfortunately so bugged and clunky that even mods couldn't fix all the issues.
