Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is still on course to unlock this month, with a new target release date of November 28. The revision, tweeted by Beamdog head Trent Oster, is admittedly only two days different from the former November 30 target. Nonetheless, given the meaty delay endured in September, a slight bump forward is encouraging.
You already can. I have no idea how it works in Freespace, but fixing BG1 so that it works awesomely on a modern PC is not really any amount of work, you only have to put in as much work as you want out of it.
Looking at the video above, I can barely see any difference. I'm not talking about the graphics, I'm talking about the interface, inventory etc looks identical, I don't see the point. It's basically BG1TUTU with the widescreen fix applied, and a new dungeon mod. In what world can that possibly be worth money, and in what world can it take this amount of time for them to release it?
To me, it seems like the arguments early on in this thread: It's just trying to cash in on an iPad port of an old game.
Erm, it's identical except the interface is the BG 2 interface? Which was a pretty big improvement at the time, especially the inventory. It looks to me like it's BG 2 with the BG1 storyline and that is great. And they've updated the resolution so it's not only the aspect ratio that is changed.
This works for me, at least for this game. I'm not really sure what they'll do to improve BG2 ( since it's pretty much perfect lulz ) but if they only improve the graphics slightly... meeeeeeh.
Will the Mac OSx version be released at the same time as the PC version? (it was initially stated for a november release, but with the delay, i don't really know what to expect).

Mine is incredibly slow, in fact it's spent over 15 mins just trying to connect.
EDIT: tried turning it off and on again and it's going a little better, 50KB/s where as I get more like 800KB/s with steam downloads. Guess if it's peer to peer it might pick up in a few days.

They said on the forums they plan to have it out at the same time as the PC version, but that they can't control the App store approval process and that it may take more time.
They should really have some sort of package discount for people who by 2 or all 3 versions. I'm sure more than a few people will buy a desktop and ipad version.

Sadly I doubt they'll propose some kind of discount, they already announced DLC so... $ $ $

But you could already do all of that with a few simple mods. Tutu made bg1 run on the bg2 game (interface). Then you added the windscreen mod and set your resolution.
I am a fan of baldurs gate, but if you already own bg1 and bg2 then you can do everything that bgee does (and a LOT more) just by installing a few mods.

This. A lot of people seem to be under the misconception that installing mods for BG1/BG2 is hard, but it's in fact extremely easy. Install BG1. Install BG2. Download BG1TuTu (the easy version), run it. Done, you have BG1 in BG2s engine. It's really as easy as following simple instructions on the screen, it takes barely any time at all.

While I agree the installation process is fairly simple there are a number of possible bugs for anyone using a new computer, I couldn't get the sound to work for instance. The new version also includes a scaling zoom function which is pretty big when you take into account what a really high resolution will do.

To me it's pretty good, you are still playing an oldie but it seems more fluid and more smooth to play. The quick glimpse at the quest journal or the inventory makes me happy cause you can see that those features have really been enhanced.
Graphics however stayed the same in my opinion except for a few welcomed tweaks,
One more week
Looks more or less identical to me, what a frickin joke.

Now try to put widescreen with it! You will need to remove everything, install from scratch and then install widescreen at right time. What is the right time? Well go google and read for a while. Then if you want to add other mods you need to know which works with which and when to install which. If it doesn't work, remove everything and start from scratch. (and I wasted too much time even learing and figuring all this out).
Now you get to see why we want to have BGEE even ignoring all the extra stuff they added in BGEE.
It is easily worth 20$ to avoid all these problems. It would not for just any game, but BG series is one of those that do deserve it.
If you have the game already and you are fine with mods then don't buy it. Nobody is forcing you to buy it, nobody said it's gonna be a complete new game. This enhanced remake is gonna get more people into an awesome franchise through accesability and compatibilty. Maybe this will even create enough interest so developers take a closer look at these type of games and this franchise. Dunno why anyone who likes BG could not want that.
I myself had only bought BG2 and add-on and later played BG1 with big-world project which was a major pain in the ass to get working btw. Perfect chance to snatch up BG:EE and just start playing.

Ufffffff. 3 days and 5 attempts I needed to get it working with only recommended mods. But then even those were completely broken and made the game crash and whatnot. They also let me get access to magic items that even my BG2 characters would not be ashamed of using. I had to drop them all on the ground and forget about them lol.

Bonus is you can preload most of the game now and only get last 500MB on 28th.
BTW, I hope someone streams this game and explains what he is doing so new people can understand it.
I also hope we get people who never played BG games playing and streaming it. I would love to hear their thoughts about the game as they experience it. Maybe we get someone who played Dragon Age 1 and loved it but never played BG games.
After playing xcom in ironman mode for so long and watching streams of people playing ironman, I am now thinking I could try to play ironman in BGEE :D If my companions die I leave them or take them to the temple for resurrection. I am only not sure what do to if my own character dies as it is instantly game over and you cannot get your char raised. Kind of unfair combined with ironman.
Quite honestly this release is just my excuse to chill out at home over my christmas holidays and replay BG again If there's new content so much the better haha. End of semester can't come fast enough.
