To me it's pretty good, you are still playing an oldie but it seems more fluid and more smooth to play. The quick glimpse at the quest journal or the inventory makes me happy cause you can see that those features have really been enhanced.
Graphics however stayed the same in my opinion except for a few welcomed tweaks,
One more week
Looks more or less identical to me, what a frickin joke.
What did you expect? It was pretty clear that they weren't gonna change the engine. Just adjusted so it works on high resolution and the interface stays intact plus some minor tweaks. I love how it looks to be honest because i never had any problems with the graphics in bg2 itself. Wonderfully detailed and i don't care for 3d graphics and flashy special effects in a game like this. As long as the interface is comfortable the game is as good as it can get.+
Game is sharp, Interface has the right size, inventory and journal look great, combat seems fluid. Not much more you can ask for.

There is plenty more you can ask for, and get, with mods, for free.

We all know what to expect of the game and I, for one, love that they retain the original look of the game. It has its charm, and still looks great even after so many years.
We did not expect a graphical overhaul. But engine improvements, a bit of new content and some tweaks. We are expecting this, cause this is what the developers are promising us.
So this is BG1 right? Any words on making an enchanced version of BG2? Never played BG and only watched BG2 getting played (good old days ). But an enchanced version of BG2 I would buy just for the sake of remembering.

Yeah, they are going to make an enchanced version of BG2 as well. So join the party and play some BG1... And then import your character to BG2 later, once it releases :D

Most mods that improve interface seem to be integrated. They can't just implement other mods and existing content into their enhanced edition and take credit for it. They implemented their own NPCs and Dungeon.
I'm curious as to whether old mods are gonna work with this version.
Main thing with this enhanced version was to port it to all modern systems and make the playing experience comfortable and i appreciate that. The game itself is great anyways.
I preordered yesterday and am so excited about this. I played Baldurs Gate II with about 10 different characters but somehow never played Baldurs Gate I so all of its content will be entirely new to me. I literally sit here and smile while thinking about the epic RPG-feeling that I will hopefully get in one week. If BG1 is only half as good as BG2 the buy was absolutely worth it.

Except the additions are extremely minor, free mods do far more to improve the game than what this developer is doing. If this version breaks compatibility with mods, which it probably does, one would question if it isn't actually a huge downgrade compared to the original version.
I really don't get how people can be hyped and positive about something like this. I mean, the GOG crew must be fucking gods to you guys since they do the same thing, but for a fuckton of games.

Well, i would have bought BG1 and BG2 from gog if they had done anything with it. I would have loved my Freespace purchase if they had adjusted that so i can play on my widescreen or in window mode. It was a major hassle to get those games running smoothly. Had to download freespace open source and convert all my gamefiles just so i can play it in window mode. Otherwise the game is contorted and ugly as hell and everything is too small. GOG doesn't do anything with the games. They just sell playable versions.
You have to install a lot of mods to play vanilla BG1 and BG2 comfortably and it can be annoying or troublesome.
That's why i like this enhanced version. I don't need a better game or content improvements. The Baldur's Gate games are awesome as it is. I want to play it comfortably on my modern pc.
I have never actually bought BG1, so I'm happy to purchase this version. Beats 10 dollars for GOG version any day.

Moving your team from point A to point B is the biggest mood killer in the game. They move like chess pieces basically.
Gotta move your party through a narrow door or cave? Oh boy, this is going to take 30 seconds.
As far as I am aware, there are not even any mods that fix this, besides making your team faster, which breaks the PvE
They said this should work better in BGEE but it is not completely fixed. There is a setting in the game that improved pathfinding, you can always turn it up a lot. In the past it was limited by low strength and memory of old computers.

You already can. I have no idea how it works in Freespace, but fixing BG1 so that it works awesomely on a modern PC is not really any amount of work, you only have to put in as much work as you want out of it.
Looking at the video above, I can barely see any difference. I'm not talking about the graphics, I'm talking about the interface, inventory etc looks identical, I don't see the point. It's basically BG1TUTU with the widescreen fix applied, and a new dungeon mod. In what world can that possibly be worth money, and in what world can it take this amount of time for them to release it?
To me, it seems like the arguments early on in this thread: It's just trying to cash in on an iPad port of an old game.
Well, if it gets new people into the game why not? It's probably not worth getting if you have baldurs gate installed on your pc already. For new players and to get interest into the franchise it's exactly what is needed. Dunno why people expected a new game.

You have obviously never played BG1 with widescreen mod on a 24 inch screen because otherwise you would know that it doesn't look even remotely close to what is shown in the video.
That's widescreen Tutu BG1. Looks definitely worse than the gameply video of Enhanced edition and the interface is horribly small. On the other hand the field of view is bigger i guess.
As I said. For people who already have the modded game it might be a stretch to buy this. For new players or anyone who doesn't have the modded version this is a pretty good buy. Not to mention ipad and mac users ofc.

you should try BG1 enhanced when it comes out, BG1 was a better game than BG2 IMO - less linear and you didn't have 100k gold by the time you finished the game that you couldnt do anything with.
Anyway just questioning the release date on this i have been hearing some reports it may be out on 28th November and not the 30th?
BG's graphics are timeless. same with ultima online.
BG would look horrid if it was in 3d. I really really really like that they kept the graphics the same. Its the same game i fell in love with at an early age and im happy to see that.

The release date was always 28th.

Actually all their character models were done in 3d and then made to look 2d. I think environments as well
