Of course #bgee will be on PC. We're adding #iPad as a platform, we're 100% supporting the PC.

I was really scared for a moment...
Still waiting on screenshots of the new infinity engine though... Thought they were supposed to release something today

Thank god they didn't decide to ruin the Saga of Baldur's Gate by doing BG 3 or some other equally retarded shit.

Enhanced edition is all the games needed. What would be really great is the ability to play through the entire saga in 1 game, seamlessly, on a modernized infinity engine (widescreen, less bugs, better interface).

Come to think of it, BG was the perfect example of how you could tell a complete story from start to finish in exactly the right amount of gameplay, it was only hindered by class imbalances (which isn't important, since its not a player vs player game) and the bugginess of the infinity engine

People like this are annoying...how would you know they would ruin it?

Ex-bioware staff is leading the project, and they have much better technology, with more funding since BG3 is an investment that has an established name-value. And it's 2012. They are capable of making a game with great gameplay...it's just the story & characters that has been lost from modern RPGs.

Better technology + More money + Ex-bioware to make BG3 = ruined saga? ok

Just because I'm right, I'm annoying? Ok. To make it a commercially viable project, they would have to make it for consoles and for the level of comprehension of audience that plays consoles, thus ruining it. Understand now?

Having an opinion is not "being right". You're entitled to predict what YOU THINK will happen, it still won't matter the outcome. You're annoying. They can get it right, ever heard of kickstarter or successful indie projects? But they can still fail. You're just trying to guess what's going to happen.

So you're saying Diablo 3 is going to not be commercially viable since it's PC only? That makes me smile just a little bit.

How about witcher 2? A very succesful game and PC only.

Lol you already got corrected by 2 responses but I'll add on.

The way you say "I'm right" already makes you seem like prick who thinks everything he says is correct. The fact that you already assume you're correct on the success level of a game that hasn't even been made yet just makes it worse. And the other responses already told you that a game does not have to be made for console to be commercially viable & successful. The sad part is, you don't even address the main argument of my original post.

Sadistx....do yourself a favor and please don't embarrass yourself on this thread anymore.

You're the one embarrassing yourself by putting words in my mouth and proving once more that you're unable to read. Not once did I mention anything about commercial viability or consoles or anything about the success of the game.

What I said, and I'll make this extremely simple for you, so you stop acting like a condescending asshole towards me in every post, is that the original BG(1,2) storyline does not need continuation and/or extension in BG3, and by artificially tying it to the brand name of Baldur's Gate and creating a game with entirely different gameplay, characters that bear NO relation to the original ones and dumbed down for the modern era gamers (compare witcher 1 to witcher 2 to understand what I mean by dumbed down) will ruin the name of Baldur's gate.

It _could_ be commercially successful with new technology or gameplay. Or it wouldn't. But the BG brand/name will be tarnished either way.

The way you say "I'm right" already makes you seem like prick who thinks everything he says is correct.

Not everything. But anything of substance that I say, because I fact check, think, and analyze before I post.

who says it will be a continuation? why not just something else happening, a prequel, or whatever. and i doubt they would be stupid enough to think that the people that buy the EE (if it turns out how we hope) will be interested in any fancy crap which btw also usually costs more to make.

in the end you are complaining about a ton of ifs and maybes.

A prequel would likely fuck the entire lore over. And there is already a "spin off" so to speak in Icewindale so that's out of the question.

For graphical intensive game for iPad3? Does it come with oven mitts?
I like the way the walls go out. Gives you an open feeling. Firefly's a good design. People don't appreciate the substance of things. Objects in space. People miss out on what's solid.

The best thing is you can already get the game on ipad for free and without pirating. You just need to research a bit.

I just hope the pictures we saw of the game on the ipad is not what they consider Enhanced Edition. I expect more then widescreen mod for BGEE to be considered a new game.

I'm really underwhelmed by this. What I wanted more than anything was for them to bring the UI into the year 2012. It seems like they aren't really doing anything that mods couldn't and haven't done already

Trent mentioned on his twitter that:

I can verify the #bgee iPad screens do not show all the graphical enhancements.

and

The UI for #bgee will change for all platforms. We have a lot of resolutions/ aspect ratios to support.

So what we see in that screen shot isn't (hopefully) what we'll end up with. I guess we'll have to keep waiting to see what the actual screen shots will look like.

Baldur's Gate control scheme is actually perfect for iPad....since it's not real time combat. Even if you couldn't pause, using touch screen for auto-attack/isometric/tactic style game is quite promising.

I'll still probably end up buying it for PC.

According to this interview :

The desktop versions of both games won't be changed much, Tofer says. They'll have higher resolutions and full-screen modes, as well as "working" multi-player, but they won't look too different from their original incarnations in 1998 and 2000.

No shiny graphic, just better resolutions, fullscreen mods already do that...
Don't know if it'll be worth buying for PC then...

Depends on the price. For 10-15$ it will be.

If i remember correctly you can improve the pathfinding by changing the node variable in an.ini file.

I really do hope they're not just tweaking resolutions and adding a little extra content. That's not worth buying for me. They have to give something that you can't get from BGT + all the mods out there.

Not that I care about Mac version because I will be playing on PC but I'm highly skeptical about the screenshots they are providing with the news. I have to admit, I was hoping for more on the "improved graphics" side of things...
Hope it's not the final version.

They were suppose to release screenshots one week ago.
I'm pretty sure the graphic ameliorations are minimal and that's why they don't show us anything.
We got the Ipad news and the MacOS news, it's pretty weak annoucements when you know that 99% of the players came from a PC background.

I'm sure they are afraid on getting bashed because they didn't remake the engine.

Just buy BG1/BG2 from GoG.com, install Widescreen Mod, Community FixPack and community content like Unfinished Business. Takes ~5 minutes to set up and it's easy as pie.
