Cam Newton is the first player in NFL history with at least 250 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in a single game.

So I'd subscribe to another form of thought.

And after that they get a bye waiting for the super bowl game. That bye week is suppose to be the week they're suppose to lose so they get passed that. Starting a new week in the super bowl where they'll win two weeks in a row? By that logic, they'll lose in the Championship game. Bye week in week 1 of the playoffs (supposed to be a win), win the divisional game, and lose to whoever in the Championship (again). Even if they don't get the bye week, they'll win the WC and Div games, then lose in the Championship (again). Bad way to look at it, so SF fans better hope that trend doesn't continue. The good thing is, there are no ties in the playoffs, so if they can't get another one of those. THat points margin always says a lot about a team. Definitely agree to this. They score 28.8 ppg (2nd most), and give up 19.8 ppg (4th least). They've annihilated the bad teams that they played: 37-6 v OAK1, 34-14 v NO, 31-23 v Cincy (not really as close as the score indicates), 36-14 v Car, 30-23 v SD2 (dominated the early part, played clock control to end it, not as close as the score) 31-23 v TB (again, TB was dominated until the 4th, when Denver started playing a clock management game), 26-13 v OAK2. They had two close divisional games, SD1, which they owned the second half in, scoring 35 unanswered points, and KC1 in Arrowhead. KC is tough to play at home, but it was a bit of a let down game. Still, even the greatest of teams struggle at times, but finding a way to pull out a game when they're far from playing their best is another good indicator that you're watching greatness (imo). Denver is for real, and I'm pretty sure that NE is going to drop their game this week, which will give Denver the two seed after they take care of business in Baltimore. Then they get a cake walk through Cleveland and KC, both at home, to finish the season. Honestly, I feel like Brock Osweiller could start those games, and they'd still come out on top.

If you going to crucify the Colts for not beating anybody and losing to all the quality teams, except for Green bay, and predicting an utter domination by the Broncos should they meet because of that. You might want to look at who the Broncos beat and who they lost too. Erm, really? The Broncos have lost to Atlanta, Houston, and New England, which all occupy the top 1/2 seeds in their respective conferences, by a margin of 6 points, 6 points, and 10 points, respectively. A loss is still a loss, and they will need to be able to beat those teams if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs, but they were all relatively close games. The Colts have lost to Chicago, Jacksonville, NYJ, and New England, by a margin of 20 points, 5 points, 26 points, and 35 points. Losing to Jacksonville is bad enough, but getting crushed by a middling Bears team, a terrible Jets team, and embarrassed by the Patriots put them on par with the Broncos? And that is just their losses, their only win against a quality opponent came against the Packers, when they won by the 3 points. Their average margin of victory is less than 6 points. The team is just not that impressive, and has come out on top in enough close games to be a playoff team. Props to them, because the team this year looks nothing like the team last year, but they have a long way to go. My point was just that don't expect an epic showdown between Peyton Manning and his former team...I would expect him to stomp them easily. They lost to the Bears when they were playing much better (and Cutler was healthy), not to mention it was Andrew Luck's FIRST career game as a pro. The loss to the Jags is pretty bad though, I can't really defend that. As for the Jets loss, Luck had a bad game (fifth game of his career), and the Colts run D has always been questionable (I mean come on, Shonn Greene had 161 yards and 3 TDs). I think you can blame the Pats loss on Hoodie being a dick and showing Luck/the Colts who the big boys are in the AFC. The Colts have 4 fourth quarter comebacks this season, and won 2 more when it was tied late in the fourth quarter. Maybe their wins aren't pretty, but that stat proves that this team is clutch and doesn't back down in pressure situations. How is the Pats/Colts game Bellicheck being a dick? Because they came out and imposed their will all game long? That's what teams are supposed to do; every team in the NFL strives to do that to the other team every week. The Pats are just better than the Colts. The Colts season has been impressive thus far, but they're just not on par with the other playoff teams right now. All the pressure situations they've faced, they're still nothing compared to the pressure of a playoff game. And the teams they'll face in the playoffs aren't typically very apt to blow enormous leads like the Lions, Titans, and Dolphins are. The Broncos are quite possibly the best team in the league, and the best defense in the league, when playing with a lead; as well as Luck has played when coming from behind, he doesn't stand a chance vs Dumervil, Miller, Bailey, and co, especially not if Dumervil and Miller get to pin their ears back and charge him. No. The worst team in the AFC to make the playoffs will be the Ravens and whoever ends up in the wild card with the Colts. The Ravens offence could not score if their life depended on it. Perhaps it will be better with a new OC... EDIT: Yeah I know - I meant they would get Ray Lewis back, not have him as running back, but somewhere in constructing the sentence my brain fucked up :p

Both teams are remarkable for their ability to field relative unknowns and then get them to perform well in the system...and they have something special when it matters. And their staffs just put together good games. I mean, I still think a Broncos 49ers match is very possible but I wouldn't be that surprised to see a rematch of last year... I think the Pats are almost a lock out of the AFC. I think anyone beating them will be a big BIG upset. NFC is looking way more fun. I think everyone can agree the falcons are going to be the worst #1 seed in the history of the game. They just arn't good. They've had teams roll over and die on them all year long. A win's a win but whoever gets to play them will be happy about it. The #2 seed is going to decide who goes to the super bowl. It's a toss up between the niners and packers. If the niners lose to the Pats this weekend GB will get it. If they can sneak out a win they will get it. Now having the number 2 seed is HUGE!!!! because you get to avoid the giants for a guaranteed 2 rounds. aka you could only meet them in the NFC championship game. For the packers... This is a big deal. Now of course this is baring a wildcard upset... Which if you look at who would be playing those games of now we have Seattle who sucks on the road and the bears who will drunkenly stumble into the playoffs just to get spanked back out. It's very very likely going to be the top 4 seeds in the divisional round. Now personally i wouldnt mind if the niners win out as long as Seattle falls to the number 6 spot. To see the packers roflstomp the seahawks in the playoffs (which they will only make because of the fail mary play)((how fucked up is that?!)) will be hilarious. Moral of the story! NFC is where it's at. Hopefully the skins can win the east! Cuz i would love to see me some RG3 in the post season. As long as he is full speed with a healthy knee. and as a bonus! NFC playoff standings* Here's an interesting article on how much the fail mary is effecting the playoff picture in the NFC. pretty fucking cray. Replacement refs will most likely have a stain on who makes the superbowl this year. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/50557/nfc-playoff-standings-week-14
