I have only been playing SC2 for a little more than a week now, and am currently playing, well, the WoL campaign.
After a few missions are complete, you gain the ability, at the armory, to buy "advanced construction" which means that more than one SCV can be ordered to build a structure. I've bought it, but I can't make it work :/
What I have tried:
* Select several SCVs, select to build a structure: nope, only one SCV will go and build it... Miss. * Select one SCV, start to build; then select others, right click on the structure being built: nope, they will just hang out near the structure and that's it... Miss.
I have searched the net a good couple of hours on how it works but could not find anything. Not even a shortcut which would trigger this advanced build.
I believe the bug is between the keyboard and chair, so how do you make it work?
I've no idea since I last played WoL campaign a long long time ago. Suggestion is to maybe use the Repair command and then click on the building or maybe turn on auto-repair.

Well, autorepair is on by default from what I can see. And a right click on something not a refinery or a mineral is equivalent to a repair provided it's mechanical, right?
Hence it is equivalent to my second option if my reasoning is correct.
Well, I can't play right now but one thing I haven't tried is instead of using B or V, usng Ctrl+B or Ctrl+V while having several SCVs selected.

Huh, that should be it I'm pretty sure. Like one SCV is building and you move (right click) other SCVs to it. Are you sure you took advanced construction?
It's been a long time since I played the campaign so I could be wrong. I recall that's how it worked in warcraft 3 for humans though which I think is what inspired this option.
Your game is bugged or something, the 2nd method should work. I just checked
OK, so, I will not pretend here that I executed the second method accurately -- I'm still new at this game, so I will try that again.
So, let me replay the sequence of events:
* select one SCV; * tell is to build, say, X; * when the scaffolding for X is selectable, select some other SCVs, left click on the scaffolding, they should help the first SCV complete the structure.
Am I correct or do I miss some obvious mechanic which I am not aware of? And, if I might ask, do you know of a video example of how this works?

Yes, I did. Again, as to my previous post, I may have mismanaged the whole thing. But looking at the armory console again and again, yes, I did buy advanced construction.
Given my level of play (from 0 to 10, pick -1), I definitely wouldn't rule out a mishandle from my part, mind. I just thought that it'd be easier to use -- and, more importantly, documented!

If you go to 50min21sec (sorry not sure how to share timestamps while on phone app) you'll see me use it.
OK, so clear as day, you do use it. But also clear as day, you have much more dexterity than I currently have -- looks like being a fluent piano player and programmer does not help with SC2 :p
Anyway, since option 2 is the way to go, I'll practice some more until I get it right I guess
OK, problem solved! And as I suspected, this was a problem between the chair and keyboard.
I am just not fast enough to use that perk efficiently and the sequence of events is indeed as such:
* select one SCV; * tell it to build a structure; * as long as that structure is being built (ie, is selectable), select other SCVs, right click on the structure being built, these other SCVs will help build the structure faster.
And of course, you can queue all SCVs to do something else after that.
