Chauncey off waivers if fine. It depends on the bid put in no? I'm not sure how the new amnesty-waivers work. Thank god they decided to match the Warriors offer. DeAndre Jordan is not worth 43 mill and the Warriors already overpaid on a player (Lee), I don't want them to continue to cripple their future.
biedrins ain't cheap either and is playing like crap

He didn't say that, he said he doesn't want to sit on the bench and he wants to be on a competitive team.
He was looking at the Heat/Lakers, but the Clippers have got to be a fun team to play PG on. Plus he's definitely starting over Mo Williams and Bledsoe. Yeah, he didn't get his freedom but he still got a team with huge upside.

Mavs grab Carter and Delonte.
Marc Gasol reached agreement with Grizzlies for the max.

woj: "He wants the freedom of free agency to choose a contender, Billups says. As one of the game’s great leaders, and gentlemen, Billups warns that player will be a distant memory should a team claim him off the amnesty waiver wire."
chauncey: "I want my freedom. My goal is to control my own destiny. And as you’ve seen in my career, I’ve never been in a position to do that. I know some teams out there are saying, ‘Oh, Chauncey will be great in mentoring’ and I’m tired of that. I’ve got a few good years left to play, and I’m not trying to come in and sit on the bench, or be a mentor. I’m not going to be that guy. I want to go somewhere and win. I want to choose."
the clippers, while having some nice young pieces, are nowhere near contenders. he wants another ring, the clips ain't going to get one anytime soon.

It doesn't matter if he wants to choose, 14 million and league side repercussions will force his hand. No one is stupid enough to lose 14 million then settle for the veterans minimum a year from now. Chances are he takes his 14 million and plays hard so he can get another 6+ million contract next year.
And he doesn't say anything about rings, he just says he doesn't want to lose more than he wins (be competitive) and start, both things can be accomplished by the Clippers next year with Chauncey, Gordon, Butler, Griffin, Jordan with a solid 2nd line with Bledsoe, Mo Williams, Gomez, Aminu, Kaman. Thats a team that is 10 people deep, with the only deficiency at the SG position (but made up for by their most consistent player being a SG)
He can complain all he wants, but 14 million + profit from next season + playing on a team with 2 backups and a roster that is 10 deep is a lot more enticing than "well its the clippers".

So...he got 1,2 right, listed a ton of SFs as SGs, forgot Eric Gordon, and listed a bunch of washed up players to boot.

The latest I've heard is the NBA is trying aggressively to restart the CP3 trade talks with the Clippers. They realized, after everybody else in the world did, how big of a black eye they're getting from their meddling in the trade talks. If that goes through, Billups isn't starting there either.

That link is from last year, before last season.

I don't think the bid means that the clippers are automatically taking chauncey, they can still back out if possible. But if they can get chauncey and not give up huge assets to get Paul, they can simply up their stock and hope to land/re-sign players next year while providing momentum going into the next season. They are in rebuilding mode currently, so building seasonal momentum is key to their development and establishment as a franchise worth attracting free agents. Being in LA automatically gives them an advantage, time to not suck so the advantage is actually real.

Just thought about Chauncey and Paul on the Clips. Imagine this super small lineup. Paul, Chauncey(can guard some 2s), EJ(definitely can't guard 3s lol,) Blake and Deandre. That shit will be running fools off the floor. Except Deandre can't shoot so that really hurts the idea. But man, that'd be sweet.

what message are they trying to send us @_@

Not even a big Mavs fan, but Kidd is my favorite player and so is Carter, time to start cheering.

NYK gonna win! Take it to the bank!

Mavs look superb. I didnt know Carter has signed up with the Mavs. Carter has always been underwhelming and never lived up to his potential. But I have high hopes that coming in for his last season, and teamed with former teammate and player-extraordinaire, on a championship team, Carter will deliver. Mavs got this!

Quick question, seeing how the NBA nixed LAL's trade for CP3, and they can't give them a better deal as I can think of (no high draft picks, no other players worth getting bar Bynum), and the CP3 to LAC for a quite good deal (atleast for the Hornets, if Eric Gordon actually was in that trade).. who would realisticly be able to make a bid for CP3 this season? Surely the NBA realizes that you will achieve nothing by keeping him till next season?
I'm having trouble seeing CP3 being allowed to leave the Hornets, which is gonna reeeeally fuck up things in New Orleans next season for years to come.

One theory I've heard is that they're just going to let Paul walk and contract the Hornets if they can't find a suitable buyer. That'd be an interesting outcome.

And the Hornets will miraculously win the NBA draft lottery in 2012 and 2013. Miraculously.
