This. Both of these guys deserve a nod especially Iggy, I think this might be the first of a few for Andre. Speaking of Andres......Andre Miller is a player who gets no love.

paul pierce has been playing better than any other sf, outside of lbj, in the east. At least offensively, guy is playing like the 34 year old he is, not the retiree most people think he is.
melo averages more, lbj, granger, pierce I think that's it for the east.

The start Pierce had to the season was awful (as the entire team was).. Also; all the forwards you mentioned are selected, bar Granger.. So if you wanted a bigger scorer than Deng, you'd have to go with Granger, who shoots a horrible FG% to achieve his 18ppg

Allen doing a really good job on Kobe.

Awesome awareness by Gasol there.
Nice game.

That was a pretty good game.

Yet another game where the team is being carried on the backs of Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Kobe Bryant.
Artest played great defense on Paul Pierce tonight so I'll omit him from my rant.
But WTF Mike Brown? Why did you give Steve Blake and Troy Murphy so many goddamn minutes tonight when you had two superior alternatives in Goudelock and McRoberts sitting on the bench.
His supposed reason for playing Murphy is that "he can make shots for us" BULLSHIT. Murphy finished tonight with ONE field goal made with at least 5 open looks from 3. He's a rebounder and defender and has been ONLY that all season. He can't pass, he can't run, he can't shoot, at least McRoberts can pass and run in addition to bringing insane work ethic and hustle every game.
Honestly; the Lakers were really lucky to win that game, and should be extremely thankful that Pau Bynum and Kobe are capable of carrying the entirety of the offensive load. They each played more than 40 minutes tonight.

no, you would just go with a pf, not another sf..instead they went with wings. ryan anderson is having better numbers than deng, amare as well. deng is also a workhorse, I bet per36 players like kg, josh smith, and to a lesser extent david west would comparable in ppg.
also pierce had a great start, he just wasn't knocking down open jumpers. that's not a matter of not playing well offensively, its just not knocking down open jumpers.

I think I actually could like that Kings team if they kicked John Salmons the fuck out.. he's been horrible all season long!
@Holcan, if your team is having trouble scoring and you can't hit open jumpers, then you're not doing your job on offense!??!
Edit: Even though it's never gonna happen, I would've loved to see Tyreke Evans playing SG for the Bulls :o
Edit 2: Woooooooh, ball game! Kings are playing with heart - loving it! If they played like this vs. below .500 teams things would be cooking

That's their problem though isn't it?
It isn't from a lack of talent that they are a below .500 club it's from consistency and work ethic or lack thereof.
If they could harness the talent they have the way OKC have they would be a legitimate threat in the west.

Well, yeah, of course that's their problem.. it's just a shame to see them perform as poor as they are, given what they are capable of, that's all
Work ethic hasn't been a problem tonight ;D

Good win for Sacramento, good win for LA tonight.
California, bossing it up on TNT tonight.

I am so happy that Roy Hibbert made the all star game! This guy, I'm so happy he will be repping the Pacers down in Orlando. He is having a damn good year and is becoming the player Pacers fans hoped. He's such a great guy too. Couldn't be happier for big Roy.
Also Paul George will be in the Rising Stars game. Roy and PG being at the all star game will become a very regular thing soon imo. Also if Melo can't go, I expect Granger to replace him. I'm ok with him not making it though cause his shooting just hasn't been there consistently this season. His defense has been great and his overall offensive game has been good, just hasn't been shooting well.
Also, living in Sacramento, great win by the Kings tonight. Makes me feel better about the Pacers loss in Sacramento, which i sat 3rd row, behind the Maloofs. Got those tickets for $64, best deal ever.

Griffin's a human-highlight reel and playing in LA. He was always going to start ahead of Aldridge and Love.
Same for Carmelo and NYC.
And yeah, this game is a severe indictment on the level of Cs in the NBA now. But I guess we already knew that following the ridiculous contracts guys like Jordan and Brown got.
The reserve selections should be interesting. West I'm thinking:
G--Westbrook, Lowry F--Wallace, Love (maybe Gallo?) C--Marc Gasol wildcard--Millsap, Jimmer Rubio
East:
G--Jennings, D Will (not sure he really deserves it this year though. Rondo will prob get one of these spots though. Jrue Holiday a possible smokey). F--Bosh, JSmoove (Ryan Anderson could be a smokey give it's in Orlando) C--Monroe (edging out Hibbert) wildcard--Iggy, Deng (edging out Joe J)
Did I miss anyone? Didn't include Amare--not playing so well. Nash could make it but Suns are awful. Maybe Danny Granger but he's not really having an All-Star season for me. Kinda forgot about Noah. He'll probably beat out Monroe, but as bad a the Pistons have been, Monroe has developed strongly. Garnett or Pierce might get one, but meh.
Let's see how we did.
West Rowdier missed on Lowry, Millsap, Rubio. I assume he replaced Wallace with Aldridge, given a later post. 4/7
East missed on Jennings, whoever JSmoove is, Monroe.
My test hypothesis, that is mostly pick all stars from last year barring injury (except Aldridge). West replacements: Nash replaces Deron, Parker replaces Ginobili. East replacements: Kick out Atlanta (Joe Johnson and Hortford), replace with Amare and Deron: West: I missed on Pau Gasol. East: Missed on Garnett, Ray Allen, Rondo, Joe Johnson, Amare.
I guess pick older stars is a better predictor unless they're not putting up big numbers (Garnet, Allen) or are injured (Rondo), then replace with top available position players on teams with good record.

I missed on kg, bargs, amare, and predicted the west except I thought gay would make it and parker or nash would be omitted, instead they went with three pg and no wings
I'm honestly shocked kg didn't get in, of all players.

Is Lin for real? Every PG looks good matched up on Fisher but I'm still not totally convinced about Lin. I'm mostly impressed that he's doing what he's doing with the bench and Stat/Melo will definitely elevate his game coming back assuming Melo isn't a diva.
I don't follow the NBA closely. I hear a lot of hype around Rubio though. Is he the best PG Lin will be matched up with until @Boston on March 4th?

I dont know about Rubio, Ive been following him closely since I first saw him as a 17 yr old playing for Spain, and he was pretty much as good if not better than any decent college PG at the time. Problem is though the season is so short and people are playing games every other night its really ridiculous and teams just dont defend that well in shortened seasons. Its also less times for people to figure new up and comers out. So yeah Lin and Rubio look great right now but for me the jury's still out on wether they are even as good as they look at the moment. Id be glad to be pleasantly surprised but teams dont let cutters just make alley oops on them like its nobodys business if they are defending properly, especially so since youll notice alot of it is in transition.

superior alternatives? cmon now lol. Goudelock is a rookie who does terrible when pressured on defense and is forced to decide on where to go with the ball. McRoberts is a hustle guy and that's it. He might be a fan favorite but don't think like a fanboy man. Murphy has been a double-double guy in his career when healthy and has been getting boards in limited minutes (9 last night) and can stretch the floor. Plus, Murphy is the type of player who can get hot and knock down some shots whereas McRoberts is not that type of player.
I don't mean to nitpick but you are reminding me of all the other overreacting LA fans here. Blaming it on Mike Brown, when the Lakers rank 29th or 30th (dead-last) in the NBA in PG production, SF production, and points off the bench. Nothing Brown can really do about that by himself. When it was Phil Jackson doing all these weird rotations during the regular season, everyone just said " the zen-master is just getting them ready for the playoffs" and yet he had more options than now.
The lakers playing 3 vs 5 on offense definitely has validity though. It just shows how weak everyone other than those 3 are right now.
