Theres a vid on reddit of shox discussing why he now thinks flusha is a cheater, who remembers this game though...
That video, must be the tick rate or video lag because there is no way in hell he was scoping dudes behind the bags of mortar.
Proud to say I've never bought a skin. Such a shame these days you go into a server and everyone is cumming in their pants about some skins some guy has or some bullshit. In the good old days, the only thing that anybody respected was skill. The entire attitude of the scene is a joke overall at the moment.

Maybe in casual servers lol. Nobody gives a fuck in comp.
2. The concept of skins.....in a brief explanation what would this be? I play LoL and I know what skins are in LoL, but in CS GO? !
skins are exactly like they are in league, purely cosmetic. in fact, they dont even change effects like many skins in league would.
It's not purely cosmetic though, it's a way to assert your dominance over others by showing that you have an absurd amount of disposable income, which inherently makes you better than other people.
well maybe you would have some decent skins if you don't spend that much on your alcohol cabinet
I wouldn't, though! To me, the best skins are those founds on the still-warm bodies of my enemies. Weapon skins and scalps alike.

A compelling insight into the intersection between hegemonic masculinity and capitalism in the digital age.
What a lovely way to put it :D I like that.
Aw thanks! Glad to know those words are more than meaningless jargon for someone other than me :D
I hate it when people use obscure terms to describe relatively simple things but you did manage to be eloquent and clear.

Speaking of using presumptuous heuristics to generate broad generalizations about people, you must not be very good at this game if you haven't bought any skins. Such a shame there's so many hourless accounts out there where people won't buy skins, because they don't play enough. Those people just aren't interested enough in the skill aspect of the game to spend a little money for a hobby others truly enjoy.
Perhaps there is nothing more satisfying than showing the rich man that my 27 cents AK47 skin can tear his shit up all the same, and there's nothing his dragon lore M4A4 can do about about a bullet lodged in his fancy head. The peasants are angry, x90. The peasants are angry and they're armed.
Nothing breaks the resolve of the nobleman better than the realization that a well placed spade to the head can hurt more than a greatsword in the hands of a moron.
Personally, I think most of the default skins look pretty solid. The default AK is super sexy and factory new. However, the walnut nova is a huge improvement over the default.

I think the problem is that the assumption is that people that buy skins actually think a better skin = better skills. I find that most people use ranking as a status symbol waaaaay over skins.
Playing in competitive matches, skins are just like accessories. People gawk at them, discuss them, throw them around, trade them, etc. It's something everyone wants to see.
Your rank, however, is almost of a thing of taboo. It's a hidden parameter that isn't known until the end. When people ask about it, people joke and lie "i'm silver lawlawl", and if people want to brag, they're like "Man, I'm LEG on my main account". It's used as a epeen measuring stick all the time. I've never heard anyone say "well you may be Global Elite, but at least I got my Asimov".
I totally get if people don't want to buy skins. It is rather a waste of money, even if you do care about them, as they don't affect in game play at all. But I couldn't help but feel the guy I was quoting was basically saying "i'm better than you, because I ACTUALLY care about the game and skills".
Maybe it's because I'm only in Gold Nova but I've seen way too many low Silver players with expensive skins running around for me to make any kind of connection between a skin and high skill.
I think my most expensive skin is still the UMP Caramel I bought when it was really cheap and I liked it. Later on the whole assault collection got poached down for glock fades, so even the consumer grade FN UMP peaked at 5 euros at some point.
I got all my skins from uttering "Ez Skins Ez Life" after winning the first 2 round of a game and ending up losing 16-2. I also wrote "rekt" in chat every time I got a kill because I think the COD culture is a beautiful thing.

I got mine from teabagging my opponents until they felt so ashamed they gave me theirs to make it stop
