Well, this was a time bomb ticking... especially after that jbree team in ESEA
if sF and KQLY did, chances are more players could be involved arent exactly low, be jw, flusha, f0rest, nbk, scream, pasza, or whatever, it doesnt matter, what matters is this WILL hurt CS:GO quite a bit, and Valve needs to adress this.
(On a side note, i DOUBT any of those players use hacks, 100% sure they dont, is just as a matter of example, in case someone thinks im acussing them of cheating)
|
It's too bad there isn't much official input on how to tell hacking from just good/lucky plays. There may not be a simple formula but it seems like something that would still be useful.
|
well if the cheat is suspected of being some subtle aim-assist then the footage being assessed has to be 128 tick PoV demos, the idea that such cheat could be reliably recognised from some GOTV footage is laughable.

Yep. It's one of those times when you need VAC to do its fucking job because computers can do things that we don't see.

I think the most unfortunate thing in this mess is that people seem to be camped up in such strong YES/NO groups when in reality the whole thing is very much somewhere between. One group is overinterpreting 16 tick replays as aimbotting, the other camp is building up rather unlikely excuses for some stuff.
I think the vital thing is that DHW manages to ensure and show that their tournament is as clean as it can possibly be. It's obviously not very pleasant for Fnatic as they're going to have stuff thrown at them regardless of how they play, but I think as a whole it's still the most important long term damage control method there is, both for Fnatic and CS:GO. The whole basis of professional level competitive play is the idea that LANs are clean and fair play, without that base secured there's not going to be much future to talk about.
|
Well, personally I hope the result of this is some damn aggressive enforcement of anti-cheating rules @ the lan itself (clean computers, no flash drives, etc). I still don't buy the whole "workshop cheat" thing since it's literally trivial for valve to see what workshop items players are subscribed to.
Even if it turns out post-LAN that some players are cheaters, it shouldn't be hard to demonstrate that they didn't cheat at the LAN itself and the results are clean.

i hate cheaters so much,Valve/VAC team need to start talking to the community more.

I haven't seen unlikely excuses, none of the footage presented for any pro player is particularly convincing or blatant, or in large enough quantity to justify the accusations. I agree that the argument is polarized between the YES and the NO, in that it's likely that there are pros who currently use or have used hacks during previous tournaments, but frankly maybe we have no way to know... Find me evidence that Flusha consistently tracks heads through walls and I might get suspicious (and I'd say his hack sucks), but so far I just don't know and I'm not too keen on that little rookie investigation.

The more the VAC team talks to the community, the more information cheaters have to work with to circumvent the VAC system.
Yes I'm aware that VAC is relatively shit right now and that super-blatant-obvious hackers exist which shouldn't ever happen (the idea that you can't catch jumping spinbot negev hackers instantly is a bit of a joke).

I do not think banning Epsilon/Titan was the right choice thou, a standin would have taken sF/KQLY spot and called it a day
What if Y team wins DHW, and the next wave of bans affect X player which was part of Y team ? Or whatever player of a a team that played on DHW for all that matters.
I know rules are rules, but still

I know rules are rules, but still I kinda agree, Valve seems to be pretty strict when it comes to rooster rules (See Era @TI4).

what information? cheats are updated within the hour when a new banwave comes i dont think hackers need any more information. Cant really stop the hacks but at least they could look at replays and ban people who are 100% hacking.

T_T Happened again, even when I flagged it as a false positive....

I've heard of things like that before on patches.
Likely it's cuz VAC got too intrusive and triggered avast's "programs shouldn't do this" detection rofl.

Steam just asked me for my SIN number and driver's license. Is this normal guys?

Maybe it'll ask me too when I get home who knows

Steam asked me for some personal information when I was approaching 200 items sold on the market for tax reasons. I don't know if it would be the same for Canada but you should check the marketplace FAQ and see if it gives a reason there if you use the market a lot.
