Aren't the Increased Duration clusters fairly mandatory? It's based on Firestorm for which I thought pretty much every build gets both. If the AoE works the same, then I guess getting AoE nodes will be bad (which is why it's good that you haven't chosen any). Plus, I think if you want to survive Lightning Thorns or Reflect, especially with that much crit, you will need Vaal Pact, which is close to the Increased Duration nodes. So I guess Scion would be the right choice.

dont forget unlike firestorm, ice storm creates chilled ground at the site of cast, so it would slow down chasing enemies and make them bathe in the storm longer

Well yea if its mathematically a better dps output ofc you should go for it :D my aim was just to scrap as much int together to make it viable.
With Vaalpact + Inc Duration i'm not too sure about going CI because all those pathes kinda suck ^.^ but yea lots to think about... tho I'm still not a fan of the skill and the staff!

Well, given that a 6s unlinked is a 7L for that staff (confirmed by GGG), it's probably gonna be quite potent. Maybe not extremely strong, but I have few doubts that it will be viable.

and isn't it for like level 32 or something? (too lazy to dig up the announcment). So you could actually have 6link if it drops as ilv 35 with level 32...

370 int, I think a reasonable amount of ES and damage (spell, cold, ele, pen) as well. I chose Scion just cuz,but maybe other starts would be better. Templar would work as well. I think it'd be possible to convert to a EB build fairly easy as well.

The scary part is; 235 % increased maximum Energy Shield from tree +400 Int. That would mean pre equip you get 315% ES. So even while wearing a 2H you should still be able to get pretty high ES numbers.
The crit, spelldmg and castspd are enough to get decent damage output (for current standards). I'm just curious if skilltree changes could affect stat-distribution in general.

Updated your build with some different choices which are better in my opinion, got a lot of crit more (top left staff + spell nodes) and skipped the life/es nodes near shadow and invested those points for "Path of the Savant" above Scion. I also took the Chance to avoid interruption from stuns while spell casting at witch, because you are playing ES without unwavering, which means you will get stuned a lot!


I looked and was like "how'd they get more int than me, I must be bad." Then I realized you guys did lvl 100 trees. I decided not to take crit though.

Increased Duration is even more important now that they're removing EC/CWDT interaction, as having the nodes and the gem gives you absurd duration IC even with just a couple endurance charges.

Immediatly went to look at my graphics settings to see why the game doesnt look as nice as the screen shots xD. usually always turn them down for performance even though my machine is pretty decent but I wish it looked as nice as those SSs!
