Anyway, i'm really not expecting any kind of retarded key fiasco.

I think 2.0 is gonna be where Path of Exile kills Diablo. Blizzard must be shitting their pants.

Exactly, plus PoE isn't strictly better, some people prefer easier and more simple games. PoE is requiring a LOT of experience to fully enjoy. I hope the community grows a lot though.
EDIT: Anything that allows for less desync is awesome. Flickerstrike with multistrike hype! :D

HOLY SHIT YES LOCKSTEP I've wanted that FOREVER They said they'd have to rewrite the entire netcode to make it happen but FUKC EYAH THEY DID IT

Another 6-8weeks beta before 'proper release' killed all the hype I had. These current ongoing torment+bloodlines 1month should've been substitute leagues for those that couldn't slot into the beta leagues or just... been the actual beta leagues. Extra long normal leagues into 1m combined leagues into beta leagues, I'm disappointed.

I hope/think they're going to run another 1 month race in the interim (or maybe a series of 1-weeks). The opportunity cost is so low; they could even make it Exiles Everywhere or something.

However, if they truely add a mode that kills desync, I don't care. That's worth far more than waiting a few months!

They might do that and probably will but a large portion of the player base knew that after the long torment/bloodlines leagues we'd have a traditional combined league in between whatever would come next. For me and the people I play with it in the guild we're completely unhyped about a beta league which means additional delay for the proper release 3m+ leagues. blamt exiles everywhere races or such could be fun but it's still a disappointment to what we were all expecting.
Also, isn't this a potentially huge blunder from GGG depending on how beta access is handled? If it's relatively easy to get beta for anyone, what's the point calling it beta besides the characters getting wiped at end of league due it being a beta and all (they always wiped previous betas). Wouldn't that alienate many of the new players if their chars is deleted in the end? If it's relatively hard to get access you instead have many of the seasoned players play the beta but then wouldn't have an easy time to invite their newcomer friends to "check poe out! new awesome expansion patch!". This new act4 expansion patch was a huge opportunity to tap into the current playerbase friends and go at it in new normal temp leagues and experience the new stuff together. Just feels like the hypemachine has all but died when the actual patch hits live

I am a little worried about a "closed" beta as well for those people who may not get in, but then again "closed" doesn't necessarily mean difficult to get into so we will see how they handle it. Overall I really like the changes that have been teased. While I actually think the gems in the skill tree will be fun and interesting I am a bit worried that the added complexity will be a bit daunting to new players. People new to PoE already shat themselves when they got a look at the passive skill tree and this added level of complexity might make it more intimidating. Another thing I hoped to see that doesn't seem to be in yet (though I am sure they are working on it) is some better way to trade. Using third party tools and sites to do all in game item trading is a bit tedious and would be a much better experience if all of that could just be handled in game imo (this is another aspect that I think newer players to PoE will take issue with, the fact that to even know what something is worth or to try and purchase or sell something you have to familiarize yourself with third party tools). All that said, PoE is already an amazing game and this update looks to me like nothing but improvements so I am pretty hyped.

Can't wait to break the game with passive skill tree. Also one of the press sites had this interesting bit about the Maraketh weapons:
"one weapon I was shown made any applied spell effects get cast in a nova around the player instead of in the standard pattern. ...Another weapon sucks all surrounding enemies towards players... A third - this time, a bow - spawns minions around the player every time an enemy dies."
Who knows what the actual DPS power of these weapons will be, but seems like another interesting way to break the game. The first one is especially intriguing. I'm trying to think of spells that would be better if cast in a nova instead of in a direction. Arctic breath / Cold snap / EK come to mind. Cyclone COC seems promising.

Hmm so according to the gamepedia vid we are talking "20-24" socket passives which means that they are going to be pretty widespread. They seem to be located between inner and outer travel rings around classes, as well as near the highways in towards the scion wheels. Which gives them pretty extensive coverage for the "aoe" ones.

Some of the sites seemed to know a lot less than others. PC Gamer was "surprised" that they didn't introduce a new character class (rofl). The gamepedia reviews seemed by far the most knowledgeable and in-touch ones.

So the term "Maraketh weapons" is misleading... they aren't all weapons?
|
maraketh weapons are different they are simply a new set of items (see the sword they are teasing, a 2h with 6 base crit instead of 5). Just new item bases nothing more nothing less (although they seem to have a lot of cool implicits). Cool 3d art though, presumably a higher standard than the older ones.

Seems really dumb to release a beta in a f2p game where you've been building up all this sexual tension for months so that some ppl can experience it and everyone else is stuck watching etup beat the game and then its not so hype when its "officially" released.

The nova item is a unique staff that was previewed in an interview with Chris. It's pretty neat, not too great mods on it. It's basically a "free" GMP (no damage penalty or mana cost change), but it won't shotgun unless you're inside a mob.
All I want to do is Vaal orb some jewels.

yeah something i saw said rare jewels had "4 mods" but i'm hoping that was more of a "we dont' understand poe at all" rather than a hard limit. Crafting jewels sounds so cool, although I'm not sure they will allow u to vaal them. We'll see.

Well scouring/alching or chaosing jewels sounds pretty good.
