Since the people streaming often is low level I only get to see like 2 abilities being spammed over and over again.
Anyone in higher level can say something about this?

As someone who has been "dying" to get into the beta you'd think you'd have read about how all skills are based on Gem that you socket into things. The difference in Classes is simply how they develop their stats. Technically any class can wear any item, and use any skill.

Thinking back, I can't really recall any Action RPGs where you use more than a few skills unless you're in a summoner-type role.

Once you get farther, you'll figure out your particular style of play and choose a few skills that revolve around that. I am a templar (strength/intelligence) and I chose to go a more melee-driven path. I use a melee attack skill that adds fire damage and an explosion (Infernal Blow), Leap Slam, Freezing Pulse for some ranged control, Endurance Cry for some buffs. I believe with an upcoming patch, and maybe the one this Friday, there will be greater differentiation between classes as I shared a similar concern to you all. As for gems, Chris (lead designer) said he won't be satisfied until at least 100 gems are put into the game.

Yeah i know that you acquire skills by gems and the support gems/advanced gems and all. But 1. There are really few abilities posted on the website on PoE (eight of them). These can't be it. 2. I havent seen more than one or two in practice.

They group up perfectly to be aoe'd and get stuck on walls alot. IIRC the devs have said that this is sonething they're working on. It's still beta, so any negatives other than things like alwaysonline will probably be fixed or added by release.

At the moment we're scaling the beta based on the rate that we can handle people's feedback. It's currently way too much feedback (duplication of the same problems reported), so there's no need to scale it further (though we'll keep giving out keys, of course). We expect it'll be substantially larger over the next few months. Just to reassure everyone, it looks like this beta will be lasting a while so if you can't get in currently you'll most likely be able to get in at some point in the next few months. This company is actually using their beta to, *gasp*, test their game and get feedback. As such, they're not simply flooding it with a bunch of people the way other betas such as StarCraft II did (which was only a beta for marketing, and not feedback). So, I count this as a blessing. It means the devs are more focused on quality at the moment, and hopefully that line of thinking will continue.

Unfortunately i'll have less time to play in the upcoming week. MTGO addict as i am i might be willing to part with my account in exchange for some MTGO tix. I'll need to check if it's allowed first though. PM if interested.

Actually, the Starcraft 2 beta served a HUGE purpose both towards balancing the game as well as testing an entirely brand new game engine and online gaming platform (they didn't just throw the "2" on the end of Battle.net for grins).

Not exactly what I meant. The SC2 beta was strictly for performance testing of Bnet 2.0 and whatnot. StarCraft II was already set to go gold when beta started. It was more of an "early access" thing than a beta. You could have removed 99% of all SC2 beta testers and the game would be the exact same as it is today.
