I would like an invite back to the guild. Left in the middle last league for some GSF action.

I hate that after 4 months of reworking automation they gave us this mostly useless warcry support. It feels like they could've just made any problematic warcries not supportable (like Enduring Cry) and that would've been sufficient. Even then, I don't feel like a 15% cost to support it is even that good. I used it automated last league and found the uptime extremely unreliable because the CD was so long and it was easy to end up between packs when it went off. I would much rather find a way to fit in 30% worth of reservation than have to constantly press 2+ warcries on rotation.
Anyway, I'm still not sold on Lacerate. The damage numbers look fine (even without Aggravate), but the actual width/length of the skill leaves a lot to be desired. I almost exclusively do map-like content so clear quality is the most important aspect, and I'm really not sold on it. That said I am really wanting to do something bleed + block on gladiator, so I'm not sure if there's another skill that would fit that.
I have done some tinkering with the new Perfect Agony (also with Lacerate Glad) and it looks OK, but not really a standout for the investment so far.
I'm open to suggestions.

I think I've already decided on a starter, and it's not melee. Jungroans Power Siphon miner, it looks very strong clearspeed wise and budget wise. That being said, it's completely against what I love to do, and that is doing my own builds. Maybe I'll change my mind before friday.

The Chieftain's new ascendancy node for warcries with the Redblade Banner effect ("Warcries have infinite power") - does this open up any (2H?) General's Cry things? One of those skills I never got around to.

I will definitely play some kind of melee build, at this point I'm considering yoinking a dual strike build from Alkeizer.

If you're gooing to yoink a melee build from anyone, Alkaizer is a god tier choice. He plays melee builds since foreverr and those are tanky as fuck while still doing damage. I'd say he's the best to "steal" builds from.

I missed the announcement stream and haven't gotten around to watching the recording of it yet but people seem to be excited. If I play, I will probably start late and/or steal a build from someone this time as well. I made the "mistake" of installing XCOM2 the other day and now I don't think I will spend much time on other games until I'm done with that...

I can only second that.

Ultimately I settled on starting with Alk's earthshatter PoB, i've never played the skill before so it should be a fun journey.

Gonna play on Canada server from EU and hope for the best. My short practise runs on different EU servers the last 2 days were straight horrible. 2 good/ok zones, 1 zone with latency spikes and 1 zone with 3 second freezes.

queue is up
Maybe by the time I get back I'll know what to play (thinking hexblast mines or frostbolt ice nova)
|
Hm. No planning or anything from my side so far, but i`m at ~64K in the queue. I think i`ll just start as some rando 2 hand marauder and slam for a while, and if its good i`ll try to make something out of it.
Worst case i`ll either jump on the MS of zenith hype train or reroll to something completely different. I do see myself playing a gladiator again sooner than later.

I gave up on launch day of the league as well. Not only does it start at 9pm for us euros, I'm just not gonna lose sleep over it. Besides that, in a day or two we'll get some proper build guides tried & tested by the vets with accurate PoB nodes and everything.

How's everyone enjoying the league?
Only up to the Act 10 in the campaign (very active toddler, living with my mother-in-law while building a house etc) but have enjoyed the league mechanic both in zones and in Kingsmarch, though I feel there's probably more things I could to make things more efficient during large amounts of downtime (do workers still use gold when unassigned re: shifting around jobs? or maybe taking gold out of my treasury when I'm saving up for upgrades). My peformance is still pretty poor but at least Storm Burst totems are forgiving when I lag out for ten seconds, lol. Will see how things peform in maps.

They don't seem to use gold unless they're actively doing something.

I decided to go for HC Trade this time around (havent played hc outside of temp leagues and HC Ruthless when it was first released) and am having a blast so far. Enjoying the league mechanic and the thrill of actually making it towards endgame in HC.
Just got an Ancestral Vision shipped to me via the league mechanic, now I just gotta figure out what a decent price for that thing should be in HC, hmm..

Has to be the best craft I've hit to date.
I can use tailoring orbs on it too, but I don't wanna deal with relinking right now.

How's everyone's league going? Sloooowly getting to play every now and then (ie just killed quest Searing Exarch, need to find another T16 for Eater) and trying to finish upgrading my town. Performance is a little better on DX than Vulkan though my client still rolls over and dies in Delirium or with boss lanes in Blights.

League is going good!
I'm exploring "melee league" as a two handed sword wielding Warden. My build is honestly crunchy as fuck to play, and I'm not sure if that's still a fundamental melee issue or just an issue I haven't solved correctly. Most of the problems arise from my build having a lot of "ramp up" to its damage, so it does 4m dps for the first few hits but is doing 20m dps after 3-4 seconds. That's fine for mapping but a problem for Maven/shaper/Sirus who don't like standing still. Screwing up a Tincture activation basically puts my dps on hold for 6 seconds, which is not ideal. The first maven fight was HORRIBLE, that fight is a big ol fuck you to true melee.
Most of the stuff that feeds the build feels great, though. The 'No phys / has increased ele damage' runecraft means I've got a 2300 dps sword, Warden's freeze and shock (plus the cold mastery that increases damage taken for each second they've been frozen) make for some solid damage ramping, and Prismatic Tinctures are awkward to use but hard to argue with their 120-140% ele damage and 22-30% ele pen.
I don't think I'll play a melee build again, but I'm happy with how this one turned out.
