Reflect is map mod only now, so you can just avoid maps that have it.
The patch is twice as big on steam as for the normal client? lol

On December 08 2018 06:23 Miragee wrote: The patch is twice as big on steam as for the normal client? lol This has been a thing for ages. PoE stores essentially all of its local content in one giant file, content.ggpk. The standalone client is smart enough to update this file piecemeal, so the download only includes stuff that's actually changed in the update. The Steam updater just compares the checksum of every file in the game folder, and redownloads any files where they don't match, so every time PoE updates anything it has to redownload the entire content.ggpk file.
People have been asking for this to change for a long time, because PoE patches are always notoriously ginormous, but it hasn't happened because (mumble mumble complicated technical reasons).
This is why a lot of people like using the standalone client, but of course it misses out on the advantages of using Steam.
*edit* Wait your "1 post" indicator is a lie, you're just posting from tl.net, you probably already know all of this. Let's pretend this was posted for the benefit of new players.

1 Post? Where are you posting from? Afaik I've only ever posted from tl.net... :D
Btw. I didn't know that because I have always used the standalone client. I think originally PoE wasn't even available on steam. And even if that wasn't the case I'm not a big fan of steam. I use steam for steam-exclusives and that's it. What are the benefits for using PoE on steam?
With my slow internet those big patches would be detrimental... My download just finished. Let the party begin!
//or not because there is a queue...

The servers are not yet online you have been placed in a que to log in when they come up.
Well then 10k que fighting.
Edit 15 minute wait really not that bad.

Afaik I've only ever posted from tl.net... :D I'm logged in via liquiddota, so the thing by your name that shows how many posts you've made is telling me you've made 1 post ever - I'm guessing that means that once upon a time you logged into liquiddota and posted once, then went back to only using tl.net. So I gave you the "new poster" reply, but then I was like "wait I've seen that name before" and facepalmed.
Benefits of Steam are 1) arguably better account security (though I'm not sure if it's actually any better), and 2) you can buy points via the Steam store which means you can fund your PoE cosmetics by selling your Steam trading cards and sellable cosmetics from other games (e.g., I've sold off a few of my old Dota cosmetics to fund some of my PoE points). Oh and I guess also you can use Steam's social features, although I hate those so that's not really an advantage for me.
Downsides are that Steam is creepy Big Brother-ish and its patching system sucks.

Not to derail, but I post through liquidhearth, despite it being dead, and it shows you as having made 1 post. So unless you also made exactly 1 post using liquidhearth, maybe it just shows as 1 for people that post on other platforms?
Also am in qeue, just got home and thought I'd be able to play for a bit lol.

So uh the Poet's Pen "trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill" mod is craftable now.
THIS HAS IMPLICATIONS FOR MY BUILD.
*edit* Wait, reports of a 5s cooldown, that would make it much less exciting.
