Molten strike with lots of projectiles and 1-2 of these life gained on hit rings has plenty recovery to feel fine.

I was thinking about that, with +3 projectile helm enchant and a dying sun I might be able to out-heal bosses with two of the life gain on hit rings. I cleared all content before with a pre-VP nerf molten strike build, will try a non VP setup this league and see how far I can take it.

I already have an arc trapper from the first weekend of Incursion that I could re-gear, he just felt so fragile. I should respec a bit to get into acro/phase acro or something

I tried to switch my Fireball Ignite trickster to Indigon BV trickster yesterday. But I made a critical error, I did it with a 5L cloak of defiance. 5L does not spend enough mana per cast and takes too long to spend enough mana for a noticeable spell damage boost from Indigon (and I've even got two Fevered Mind jewels). I also learned that when it says on weapon "20% chance to poison on hit" it is actually "20% chance to poison on hit with this weapon" ... my plan was to have 20% on tree and 20% on weapon for a total of 40% to poison stuff with BV. I use Southbound gloves and this "trick" would let me enjoy the 70% recovery to life and mana boost while mapping as poison (DoT) would kill everyone and not BV. But with only 20% from tree my BV does not poison everyone before I move on to the next pack...
So now I am stuck trying to craft a shaper weapon with Decay Essence that will also give me "Gain %% of Physical as Extra Cold/Lightning Damage" mod.

Depending on the base there's a rather easy method.
You can roll a shaped sword for example (not a dagger/sceptre etc.) with the essence of your choice.
Catarina 8 "cannot roll attack mods" is now an easy way to force a "phys gained as elemental" onto the weapon with an exalt. The method can be seen here in practice for example.
It's not perfect for what you want (since you'd sacrifice the spell damage roll for example) but it's probably the cheapest way to combine a strong essence and those shaped affixes. Once done you can remove the Catarina mod and craft %AS instead.
The alternative is trying to hit the affix on a "proper" weapon (sceptre/dagger) with just a Delirium. Given SC exalt prices (lolbtw) you'd have about 50 tries for a similar cost.
I'd recommend spending 100 alts and seeing how often you hit one of those gained as ele mods to figure out your odds first on the 'proper' bases.

I don't need a dagger/scepter as base, spell damage mod is not important as I get enough spell damage from Indigon. And dagger has a much bigger list of available mods than the Tiger Hook sword I am using so harder to get what I want.
But does not this method cost at least 2ex (one to apply Catarina mod and 2nd to add that mod) ? Also I need to delirium the sword as many times until I get wanted combination of Suffixes and Prefixes.
Yea with ex prices.. for 2 ex I can use as you say 50x 5c essence of delirium instead. I think for now I will keep spamming essence of delirium on Tiger Hook and see if I get anywhere. If I hit a good combination of suffix/prefix I will put that one aside and maybe spend 2ex on it in future. tnx for that advice.
EDIT: Hmm, both decay and catarina are suffixes. So I would need to get decay from essence, another suffix and one suffix free for catarina craft. Then when I look at list of prefixes, all are attack based except +1 to all gems, extra cold from phy and extra lightning from phys. Unless I get +1 to all gems from using essence I risk lots of exalts to get that instead of one of the two extra from phy mods :D

Just curiosity, I'm not quite ready to jump ship yet. I have no uber elder experience so don't know how the fight differs from Elder/Shaper/Guardians.
|
For meta boss killing your forgot zerphi poets and just facetank everything forever.
|
Yeah, Vaal RF is just a free 40% more spell damage for any non-CI spellcasting build (unless it doesn't stack with the RF spell damage buff, in which case it doesn't do much for those builds). Well, one that is a pain to proc against Elder Guardians/Uber Elder.
|
End game RF builds seem really expensive and the single target DPS is just mediocre at best.
I did a molten strike build again this league and seems to be pretty strong still. The elder rings with + life on hit replaces the old VP. This build does all map mods and can facetank most boss mechanics.
P.S. With 50%+ movespeed, it is also the fastest lab farmer I've ever played. This char also afks in traps and not die, which feels so much better compared to the VP version.
|
Yeah RF seems more like a good all-rounder endgame build that can do everything if you want it to, not that it specifically has stellar single target dps or anything. I already have a char I'm pretty contently farming all maps with but it's way too soft for bosses (even yellow elder guardians) so I'd probably look at a specifically sick single target bossing build, rather than LLRF to "replace" the char I've already got. Still haven't decided. Still making cash.

So I accidentally got rid of the entire elder influence area on the atlas... will it come back on its own after a while or do I have to do something to get it again?

it will come back on its own

So I finally bought a handful of shaped maps so I could mash out one specific map with all the juice -- 2x sextants, full chisel, decent pack size, fortune favors the brave, etc. Across ~20 Shaped Toxic Sewers at 3c a pop plus all the above, I just about broke even cost wise if my math is right, give or take selling higher variance items like div cards and rares (mostly elder ones). This is with no MF gear basically, other than Bisco's Leash. I'm actually not too upset about this, that's a big investment per map so breaking even is better than just flushing cash because I'm not MFing properly or whatever lol. I was really just curious to give it a shot and see how it went this league, and mindlessly destroy some super buffed pack size maps. I know 20 maps is a tiny sample size for meaningful statistics.
But it got me thinking about which map "upgrades" have the best or worst returns overall for their cost, which we were sort of discussing a couple pages ago. Alch n go vs the whole shebang, etc. Each sextant comes out to ~1c per map, which seems very worth it if you get any of the extra monsters stuff for sure, but gets super expensive to reroll if you get one of the shitty ones. 4 chisels is ~2c per map, which is harder for me to gauge since "feeling" 20% IIQ is going to be hard to notice with a small sample size. And Zana mods can be especially pricey. I love doing double beyond but Fortune this league feels less consistently strong for 3c? Idk there's so many variables. Dunno what sort of rules of thumb people use these days or if there's been good research done on this. Maybe none of this is worth it without decent MF gear to maximize your returns and just alch+go+hope for big lucky drops is just as valid lol. That's how I made a decent amount in the past but I've been pretty unlucky with big sale drops this league so far.
All prices = incursion softcore btw

The real big play™ is to complete every single map on the atlas except for guardians, complete uber elder, run 4 sextant t16 chiselled vaaled underground seas with domination and swim in money.
Also the best boss killer by far has to be poets pen pathfinder with a zerphis, shit is absurd. Consider going arc traps with arc in a tempest's binding, and stormspire in a 6l tinkerskin.
MF is for suckers, shaped toxic sewer comfortably sustains if you alch and chisel with 1 sextant, and you don't have any other t10's or t11s completed. Underground sea is almost certainly the best map in the game, t16 underground seas go for 45c a piece on sc and I was oversustaining this morning when I ran them. Keep in mind the relative value of sextants chisels vaals goes down the more expensive the map is, and alchs are free in underground sea.
