edit: and it's certainly possible that it's just a small minority being really loud right now, but the amount of it still came as a bit of shock to me. My PoV is something like this:
The supporter packs and MTX, not including things like stash tabs, are overpriced compared to other games. For example in Dota 2, you can get various nice looking sets for as cheap as $1. Most other games have cheaper prices for premium skins and include the option of grinding them for free.
A key reason why I was happy to buy the overpriced MTX/packs for the past 4ish years was because I liked supporting GGG. They have been one of the best developers out there in terms of product (completely free lots of updates) and communication. Of course they have not been a "small indie game dev" for some time now, but they were still independent.
Now, they are not independent. And are partnered with a fairly deplorable company. Yes, it's primarily domestic activities that are the concern, not actions with Western game companies, but the fact remains that supporting this crappy company is not something many people want to do. You can call this entire mindset naive I suppose (businesses are there to make money etc.), but I think snubbing your nose at people who think this way is a bit callous.
At the end of the day the game will probably not change that much, but personally my view of the value in paying for $40 armor sets is diminished.

Slayer/Raider Ascendant? Wondering if I should give that sort of thing a go in Incursion if stat sticks are not long for the world post-3.3, though I'm probably going to default to some sort of walking simulator (maybe one of those RF Elementalist builds w/Inpulsa's, IDK). Yeh slayer/raider, level 85, tempestuous steel off hand, a 5l belly and the best wep i could get. BF and reave both alternate weapons when dual wielding, and since tempestuous steel is a sword (valid type for bf/reave), using it would lower your dps significantly. This is why people use sceptres as stat sticks. Yeh, if you look at my characters now you'll find I've upgraded, I unfortunately didn't think about it when I went in the first time, but it was still pretty easy, even if it took a bit longer. https://pastebin.com/xWFJKyz6This is the character now, at lvl 86, with decent gear.
Ah, thanks for that. Any ballpark idea of how phys/sword versions compare to ele/claw takes? Guessing a stat-stick and a half-decent weapon + that Ascendant combo will pull a lot of weight regardless of how you build it.

No idea, I think swords are probably easier to build around given the placement on the tree though.

Guys help I can't stop making hipster builds that sort of work but perform unimpressively for their gear costs.
In completely unrelated news, next league I'll be playing Gluttony/Hiltless Flicker Strike Juggernaut with high uptime Immortal Call, abusing Unbreakable regen with phys immunity and self-damage. I don't see any way this could possibly go wrong.

I think I'd have more fun if I could throw myself into hipster builds. I usually spend most of the league on 1. super meta league starter 2. super meta map clearer, then I lose the will to play
|
Well, I'm doing my own builds since like 2 years. They mostly aren't very different from builds that end up somewhere in the forums though. Next league I'm planning to do a Lightning Trap + Lightning Spire Trap build, and there'll be many more people who will do that so I'm sure I'll find a 95% similar build guide somewhere.

I do lightning trsp shit next league...
Are Traps the new (and long gone) selfcast?

Nah, totems are tbh
I think making your own builds is fine tbh, I just don't see the point in going out of your way to make it bad. Pretty much every build I make is my own, not including things like the bf reave character.
Speaking of which, I'm probably going for elementalist explosive arrow next league.

Speaking of which, I'm probably going for elementalist explosive arrow next league. I agree totems are probably still going to be king for spells. I played FP Hierophant last league though, so I wanna try something else. With the new FP changes it would've been even more nuts... With Shimmeron it was deleting everything (and the best thing: freezing nearly everything) while being a totem build.
|
Yeah I feel like buffing FP base dmg on top of the falloff changes is unnecessary, seems like FP totems will be strictly better than Frostbolt totems now.
|
Already were imo, though flameblast totems are back baby

On May 23 2018 18:18 bo1b wrote: Already were imo, though flameblast totems are back baby Not really. Frostbolt totems with threshold jewels would delete enemies outside the screen on more open maps.

On May 23 2018 18:18 bo1b wrote: Already were imo, though flameblast totems are back baby Single target is only slightly better when totems are placed point blank. No falloff makes FB totems better for clear, and the lack of falloff means you have much more freedom in terms of where to place totems during bossfights (including spreading them out so they don't die to the same AoE skill).

That's a spicy load of new Divination cards - Fated Connections/Jeweller's Touch; Perandus Manor/Poorjoy's Asylum/Putrid Cloister; Belly of the Beast/Lightpoacher/Bisco's Collar; corrupted Nemesis item; Watcher's Eye; a whole mess of Essences, and more! Vaguely wish there were ones for Detonate Mines or Primordial Might/Anima Stone for SSF purposes, but eh. Will be curious how the drop locations of these might spread some love to under-run maps (and hopefully people will update the wiki - I did a bunch of updates past handful of leagues based on Reddit posts/screenshots that'd been up for weeks, eh).

Elemental Hit is back baby!

AoE does not look that awesome but its single target might be better with that "free" EE thing if you use 2 elements.

What do you guys think about my PoB Double Strike Jugg?Tree feels a little clunky. Defense wise should be half decent, right? With loreweave + endurance charges? DMG with vaal double strike is gonna triple my base dps for a while or are the doubles damage nerfed/reduced? (its mostly using my old gear from a wild strike char) Might use Oni Goroshi until i get a nice foil + offhand - Oni goroshi actually deals 200-300k+ more damage than a good foil.
https://pastebin.com/prmLcZKk
/EDIT alright just saw ziggy video on vaal skills, dmg is lower than normal Double Strike and multistrike doesnt work apparently.Welp
