Now I've been researching stuff by myself and probably have as many hours invested in reading beginner guides and watching youtube videos explaining things as I do playing this game but it is still a bit overwhelming. So I've come to you guys with some questions: I've decided to start as a witch because she's a pure INT class and I generally thought that a spellcaster will not be as gear dependent as a melee fighter for reliable damage. I've researched and found 3 builds I'm interested in and would like to hear your opinions about which to follow. I'm lv 16 and I think it's about time to start investing into the passive skill tree with something clear in mind. Also, I'd like to join the guild if you'd have a newb like me. I'm mostly looking for friendly people to chat with while I get my bearings and adapt to the game's mechanics. Maybe answer some questions for me in guild chat if any do pop up in my head. I am NOT looking for any handouts or charity or carrying me in any form. I'm probably more interested in solo play and gearing by myself. I know this might seem unsocial but I do not like visual clutter on my screen from other people. It tends to confuse me a lot. This season I want to experience the game and play at my own pace. I'm not really competitive about ladders or hardcore mode, but I do enjoy new season starts and I do not mind grinding for gear all that much. Well this post has gone on for long enough so I'll shut myself up :p IGN is: Latham89 (acc name) and LathamBB (witch's name). I dunno which you guys need to invite me.  ).Scorching Ray is very good and there are plenty of builds for it. If you like the channeling/stationary playstyle. Firestorm i personally don't like, so won't speak about. If you want to beat all content (which most people don't, not by far), I don't see many cheap builds that compare to Glacial Cascade Mines. | ||

Arc miner is another option which is cheaper, but more squishy. That one is also good against single targets, although of course not as good as other skills are with mines (hi Glacial Cascade). Though if you don't wanna trade at all the the cheaper doesn't really count. If you do, you can buy cheap 5-6L helmets that are good for miners. | ||

Flame Surge is pretty absurd in that set up, but you need to ignite with Arc / Orb of Storms. | ||

Spawned Elder and his guardians on T5-7s for fun. First time I had died in a long while. Only once or twice on Elder himself and... Eradicator I think? The lightning one? And once to the dude that bleeds too. My first endgame boss experience lol. Haven't done Shaper/Guardians/Atziri. | ||

Also what are good stats on an abyss? Echelon's jewel is a synergistic T1 + T2 + Life, Plato's jewel is double T1 + T2. Both are "worth" slamming but as with slamming anything, the vast majority of the time you don't get an upgrade. Crafting with exalts is a matter of volume--it requires a large enough operating budget that you can deal with the fact that you're going be straight up pissing away currency a lot of the time to eventually get something great. The Dousing is supposed to be Warding. I was rerolling those just yesterday and must have misread that one in a rush. Thanks for the catch. I kept the Heat because I assumed I would be replacing Hrimnor's (only used it because I had it lying around I believe and the life was good when I finished leveling) but that fire damage and freeze immunity is pretty nice though. | ||
