Flicker is probably one of the wors build you can go for with 0 currency or at league start? You need Tempus Est or Oros until you can start Flickering and on top of that you need high Crit or Ignite chance. +whiteout pretty nice gear random rares will either oneshot you or you lack the crit/ignite % to flicker constantly... | ||

Terminus Est for clear + Starforge Heavy Strike in weapon swap is pretty insane, though I wonder if the later can work without instant leech Vaal Pact. | ||

Getting the "basic" gear together for making flicker comfortably work isn't exactly "free" tho. Unless you want to farm with Sunder/Whatever. | ||

Even if at the start of the league flicker has *some* real requirements, it's not like you are playing SSF and the unique weapons are just not that expensive. Plus if you are really sold on flicker you can do it without those weapons as raider  . Basically I wouldn't be afraid at all to start as a flicker character if that's wat I wanted to play. I might be biased though because I rarely relevel a character so I usually just make my first character whatever I want to play for the whole league even if it's not a smooth transition | ||

The max link doesn't have to be in the weapon either, so it'll prolly work fine. If I play abyss, I'll probably start with a Gladiator, or another supertanky class. Was so nice just chillin' through content. | ||

Molten strike is still the best single target with the right investment, people will always play cyclone, but people actually play a lot of skills. Still some bladeflurriers out there, there's a popular tanky cleave guide (for the fortify threshold jewel), hell even heavy strike was a "build" for a while last league mostly for the raw top-end DPS from that double-damage threshold jewel. Bow is probably still good although the best bow was doomfletch prism and it got nerfed a lot if you were going to be crit (and you were). However, as far as I can tell the build didn't seriously get worse considering the increase in flat phys available from Abyss Jewels etc. The QotF nerf hit many bow builds but the item is still very powerful in most situations, just lab runners can't abuse it quite so hard and a general small evasion nerf. | ||

The calculations are non-trivial because they rely on boss hitbox size, but I'm still pretty sure molten strike is better. It's just that when you proc all of crit, ruthless, heavy strike double damage at once it looks insane, it just doesn't happen that regularly. Obviously the heavy strike build still does unbelievable dps even when it's not super lucky. Anyway because starforge is the highest PDPS weapon readily available, any top DPS cookie cutter guide build is going to build around it's constraints. | ||
