Question: I know there will be a character wipe at open beta, but will open beta characters persist through to the final release or will they be wiped too?

There is a lack of motivation to grind through the rest of the acts with the character wipe incoming, but I do want to get my build tested before open beta. Question: I know there will be a character wipe at open beta, but will open beta characters persist through to the final release or will they be wiped too? Just saw this: We expect that Path of Exile will enter Open Beta in mid-August. At that point our final character wipe will occur and the game will be permanently available for everyone to play. So it sounds like open beta characters will be permanent.

They're ironing out a lot of things (including character control) atm, which is imo a good thing ![]()

The game has some serious problems with it ignoring vsync in some situations and overheating GPU's. They are still looking into these problems (Creating a FPS-limiter and incrementally optimizing code etc.). They have got a larger number of crashes especially after the latest patch. The rest of the problems they are having are either specific to a few people and/or minor issues. I hope they can have at least semi-fixes up before the open beta since players having hardware toasted because of a problem in the game is unfortunate and crashes are generally not good for reputation in the long run. Don't get me wrong: The game is fantastic and I love it, but I want them to be succesful in the long run and to do that, they need a release that feels good for as many people as possible. If the game becomes a hardware toaster it is a serious problem and crashes really detract from the playing experience.

Aside from that, it seems like mid-september is a likely open beta date. Which has the unintended consequence of getting a lot more people to buy the support package to get in. It would usually be a marketing ploy, but I think GGG are actually honest enough that it's just a legitimate concern for game quality.

Yeah latest patch(s) really introduced a lot of crashing — maybe 3 kinds, at least one of which may have existed before though. However, I personally have not heard of any problem with it ignoring V sync personally, although it still seems to not run optimally graphics-wise even if it's running at full FPS. Personally I'm using a DirectX wrapper that limits FPS. If you search of FPSlimiter I think you could find it. It doesn't seem to help for any of the crashes though.

It's a really complicated thing that went through many changes, but this new change they did was a complete re-vamp and it really needs a whole lot of tweaking (or even rather sigificant redesign) in my view to make it balanced enough. I am almost sure they are going to do a skill reset with next major patch. Mark said they done changes to skill tree based on feedback. I expect some keystones to change positions as well.

Has anyone here made it to the end game yet and tried some maps? How are they?

P.S. I love this game, but there are some things that need to be worked out prior to Open Beta, especially if they plan to make it their unofficial release of the game (was unaware there wouldn't be a wipe between OB and launch).
