Big AOE, no life on any of those jewels so it would probably have like 230-240 life, unreserved mana I think, so full mana to MoM, decent AOE, some evasion and energy shield. 41k tooltip, it'd be 45-46 with the trickster change

Atrophy Wheel > Corruption Wheel.

For bosses you weapon swap ED (or use it in a 4L), Wither Totem, Vaal Lightning Trap. You'll be fine. Note that you're assuming a +3 bow and lvl 4 Empower so you're probably more looking at 30-35k damage. Also not sure if you played CA before but you might want to consider a little bit of pierce or +1 arrow reasonably quickly.

The ED/MoM/RF dream currently looks like this but I'm not satisfied at all. Pool could be better, points are too high, mana regen isn't fixed yet. But then I'm also at 40k for both ED and RF each and I'm assuming a 5L. Not really sure where to drop damage either, it's not like I'm getting many nodes in the first place. Essence Worm PoF and Clarity on Mana is probably the only way to make MoM work as well.

Skipping Duelist for Templar also doesn't sound too stronk, not sure all in all.


hmm looks like its 7 for 74% vs 6 for 71% with a small amount of chaos resist
so I do agree the 6 for 71 with chaos res is better but I was actually considering dropping melding for +1 curse
but... probably not worth it I guess. 2nd curse not too crucial, though I do think I will have like cwdt temp chains, and a blink arrow coh vulnerability for bosses

you lose a frenzy charge but that is more than made up by some real nice DPS nodes, you also pick up some AOE for your RF which you could of course drop if you don't want.

comparing the numbers on life/mana and regens

yours:

200 life (5992 total)
804 regen
161 mana
214 regen
118 points 4 jewels

mine:

168 life (5654 total)
788 regen
166 mana
306 regen
118 points
6 jewels


so lose some life but gain some mana, but gain a lot of mana regen, and you can make up some of that life in jewels (and also gain some DPS from the jewels)

if you don't care about your RF AOE much I guess a good thing to be might be to grab the jewel on the far right of the tree, or to go down and trounce around in scion life wheel. though light of divinity is pretty OP

I think regular acro is no brainer. spell acro is less clear - you don't want to sacrifice HP, and you're already streched pretty thin on points

The changes....hmm

-Shock: Shock has never been interesting. After changes its basically just a medium to small buff to all lightning damage. A mechanic that does more damage to lower health targets on subsequent hits is a pretty worthless mechanic. If they leave the threshold requirement in place this is just a flat shock nerf....

-Chill: erhm, previously you had to do 5% of enemy life for a .3 second 30% chill. Now a 5% hit will slow them for 3% for 4 seconds. Hitting the 5% threshold was often hard and will be evn harder in 3.0 with boss hp. If this allows bosses to be chilled though, then it opens up several unused mechanics, the hypothermia support, and Frostbreath spectral throw, which should be quite strong. If we continue to see chill immunit on bosses with these numbers....well, it would be extremely dumb.

-Power charges: Big buff to power charges, which is nice with the slaughtering of diamond flasks, old power charges were really really bad, simming in POB they were extremely suboptimal to take on tree in nearly all non Assassin builds. The dumb thing about the change is that with how easy it is to get power charges, every spell build will now use them, crit or no crit. It will be basically assumed that all spell builds have at least 3 power charges. Also diversity killing in that it makes power charges basically unused by attacking builds.

-Frenzy Charges: Kind of sad for diversity to make raider and frenzy charges never usable for spell builds, no more fast moving clear speed spell raiders.

Nerfs to VLT and Vinktar shock are good, was really dumb.

Changes are....ok, really nothing fixed, nothing creative or interesting. Chill is now unusable as a utility mechanic, In what world would you care about a 30% slow on a target you damaged for 50% of it's life in one hit. Seems like a continuing trend towards boiling down complex mechanics into just a load of more multipliers and conditional more multipliers.

Lol, the charge nerfs... Frenzy charges not working for spells, Power charges giving 30% crit chance and 4% more spell dmg (not worth picking at all for attack builds).

Also the shock&chill nerfs change some things. Vinktars/Vaal Lightning Trap got hugely nerfed, and CWDT Vortex is basically useless now.

RIP charges. Nerfing power and frenzy and then making separating them to hamper niche mechanics to achieve nothing positive directly.

AA got nerfed hard too by the chill change

I wonder if they change tinkerskin or "Master Sapper" node. I also wonder if there's any chance they could revert this change. Feedback on beta doesn't seem to do anything and they still haven't addressed reflect. Right now you have to go scion or elementalist which also hampers diversity.
There's one major thing that all these changes share which is -removing diversity,- even niche/underutilised mechanics and relatively weak but interesting interactions.

Random thoughts after reading the changes:

There is no point going Assassin now with that nerf. Scion gets a flat 1.5% to base crit, Assassin gets 2% when on max PCs. Fuck that. Also RIPPERINO Critical DD now, with this assassin change no point to ever try that.

Chill and shock now ask you to invest into chill and shock nodes to make them worth it. They will still be useless vs bosses and useless if you are doing many smaller hits. Seems they killed all 3 elemental bonus effects... RIP.
Only maybe changes to support skills might make this worth it just so you can activate those supports, we will see.
But more likely Elemental Focus will be better than ever.

Frenzy charges only working on attack skills is not cool at all, also reducing PC crit bonus from 50% to 30% is terrible. I have to rethink or tweak some of my builds now...

I like Arcane Surge change, you can actually plan around having it at levels where it activates from 1 or 2 casts. Like my Totem builds in 3.0 have me self cast curses linked with Arcane Surge and both linked with Inc Duration. Now I can check lvl 20 curse+Inc Duration mana cost and set Arcane Surge at levels where it activates after one or 2 casts. And if I want add another support to get a bigger mana cost. Good thing is that Arcane Surge bonuses don't go up a lot between lvl 1 and 20 so it probably does not matter to have it at lvl 20.

New ruthless is crap, it was crap before and it is still crap with every 1/3 hits getting its bonus. Vs normal enemies it will always be useless and only might be good vs single target enemies. Better if they did it like Arcane Surge with needing to do certain amount of damage before it activates and gives its boost for X seconds. Then fast hitting or slow hitting attacks will benefit same from it in all situations. Now if you got big slow attacks you will never get to use it vs normal enemies.

Nerf to Vaal Lightning Trap, it giving only 10% more damage.. Fuck you GGG. I think map boss fights will be boring and crap now and I will be skipping them.

The charges change seems super weird. Endurance charges benefits all side of the tree, but they decide to split power charge to caster side and frenzy to attack side ? I shouldn't play a ranger caster or witch attack build or sth ?

Ruthless is pretty good imo. If you attack 6+ times per second it's fairly consistent, and it even got buffed from 30% to 1/3. In terms of PoB-gaming it often is suggested in the (non ele focused) melee builds I tried to make.

Also agreed vndestiny, such a crap change. I won't go as far as that it prevents such builds, but it certainly doesn't help.

Also I kind of lost the will to play crit builds now. Managing PCs was always irritating and now they nerfed them.

On the other hand you can now combine something like Aylardex (that boosts MoM with your Power Charges while radically reducing crit chance per PC) with Romira's Banquet that lets you gain power charges per every non critical hit.
You can just get Spell damage per power charge node and use new PC bonus to spell damage and play a non crit build with power charges. Maybe even with Trickster for another +1PC bonus.
Or maybe combine Romira's Banquet with Resolute Technique and give up on Elemental Overload. Certainly worth it for pure physical spells. Brutality Bladefall Totems anyone? :D

Or just collect lots of PCs but also use EO. Get Orb of Storms+IncCrit+PCoC to get you both.

Also lvl 20 curse+Inc Duration+Inc AoE is 95 mana per cast. If you also link Arcane Surge to it, you can almost get it to activate on two casts at lvl 20. You will probably need it to be lvl 18 or so.

Maybe time to make Spark Totems with new jewel using Beserker and going non crit but getting PCs anyways

If the changes to charges go through (which I hope they don't), then power charges will be very good for casters. I'd imagine something like Ascendant (Assa+Elementalist) that goes MoM + full power charges/crit could be pretty good for self cast, preferably with dual void batteries. The later might even make Arc, which is mechanically my favourite skill, be okay with the power charge changes.

I would say the most blaring problem with all of them is that if you can do a max shock by taking away half their life, YOU CAN KILL THEM WITH THE NEXT HIT ANYWAYS.

also, do frenzy charges no longer give AS or CS?
This is just like GGG, I bet you anything this is their way of nerfing raider. By nerfing a mechanic used by over half of the other builds.

Is it? CA is an attack. Maybe new Frenzy Charges can still boost it. Maybe they boost effects coming from attacks although normally the DoT is not affected by attack passive modifiers :D

Is it? CA is an attack. Maybe new Frenzy Charges can still boost it. Maybe they boost effects coming from attacks although normally the DoT is not affected by attack passive modifiers :D

Don't think so, the wiki says

"Iron Grip: The strength bonus from the Iron Grip keystone passive does not affect the caustic cloud damage because the cloud is not considered an attack ..."
