My potato won't really support a full group fireworks show I'm afraid, but for the occasional 2-man-map or just some people to have a chat with I'd like to be re-invited if possible.(I also need people so I can bitch about Vorici being an idiot, but I guess I could do that here). Well it is more Spark than VSpark for now as I didn't buy the vaal soul jewels yet, I am farming for them :D (does having multiple Chill of Corruptions jewels stack? Why are people using the other one if it does?) I got VoidWalker boots for it and they are cool for a CI character for this build. Especially if I cannot afford a 6L armor. | ||

I am planning my 1st character for next league that will let me to play fast and farm fast. I am planning to play a crit self cast Ice Nova and want to go CI eventually. Most of the build is cheap (before going for CI equipment) as I only need one unique - Bitterdream (Divinarius is also useful but only much later). I got this build running in current league but it is a life+es elementalist witch. I don't want to stay Elementalist or use life as that is its current weakness. I got the passive tree down but I don't know which Ascendancy would be best for CI version. I narrowed it down to 3 choices and I need your thoughts on them. Best for most ES is Occultist - I will get ES regeneration without needing life leech and I get +1 PC and way to keep PCs up without need to use Assassin's Mark (I would use OoS+PCoC to get them maxed and then upkeep them with Occultist ability). But seems my damage will suffer with this choice as the ascendancy has no straight damage or critical damage boosts even when compared with Elementalist. I would choose this one without thinking if it had more damage boosts Better damage with critical hits I can get with Assassin - He has no ES bonus or ES recharge bonus and I would need to use Life Leech (probably by means of Warlord's Mark or by swapping Increased Critical Strike in Bitterdream with Life Leech support) and his ability to grant me PCs by not hitting critical hits could be enough to upkeep max PCs without the need of Assassin's Mark (again using OoS+PCoC for initial generation of PCs) but he has lots of critical damage boosts and since he boosts base crit chance of skills I can replace Increased Critical Strikes support for something else. But when doing any elemental critical hit based builds I cannot ignore Inquisitor - this one gets critical hit chance boosts, boosts to both damage and critical damage but has no ES regeneration and no bonus connected with generating PCs. So I will need both Assassin's Mark and a way to Life Leech but will still need a slot in Bitterdream to have Increased Critical Strikes support. I will be able to ignore using elemental resistance reducing curses and it kind of goes against this "simple starter build" that uses a weapon with free Cold Penetration support built in. This is currently my 3rd choice. So any hints, thoughts or recommendation about best choice of Ascendancy are welcome. Just don't tell me to not use Bitterdream :D (I was thinking or using Vaal Sparker as first build but since I tried that one as well in current league, it costs much more to equip properly and I don't want to do that as 1st build) If anyone is interested in more detail about this build here it is: + Show Spoiler + Bittedream is a 9 socket item as it gives 6 free supports. Very cool for ice focused builds. You use 3 sockets to slot Ice Nova+Spell Echo+IncCritStrikes. For boss battles where you don't want to stand too close you swap Ice Nova with Glacial Cascade, battles like vs Izaro. The item also gives you frenzy charges due to Ice Bite being one of the 6 free supports. I would use HoT+CurseOnHit+2 curses(+HoI on a 5 link). HoI, Discipline and Arctic Armor if I can fit it. CwDT+FrostBomb+IceWall. LightningGolem+MinionLife+VaalSkeletons for boss battles. Dagger in offhand with WhirlingBlades+FA+Fortify or a high ES Shield with LeapSlam/Charge+FA+Fortify. This build moves fast and clears fast, all for a small currency investment. Can be made much stronger with lots of currency invested and you don't even need a 6L or even a 5L for a long time. My current version uses Bitterdream and Divinarius, only has 5 PCs and has around 75% crit chance with 5 PC up + what ever Assassin's Mark gives). It freezes everything except map bosses and high resistant rares. | ||

Occultist/Trickster are your defensive options, the main reason to even consider them is because you're selfcast, for Totems I'd never consider them for example. Since your goal is to start strong in a fresh economy and considering #SClyfe, I'd go for an offensive option instead. I'd also run OOS/PCoC for charges and Warlords as my only Blasphemy curse. Swap Warlords for Assmark for even more #SClyfe. Can squeeze HoI in if you can deal with the Mana usage (prolly fine due to Bitterdream+Warlords). The issue you'll potentially run into with dbl curse HoT/CoH/HoI will be the general unreliability. You're not doing small, quick hits but rather pretty hard chunks and will damage packs equally, so when the shatter curses something it will either be a rare or already dead. The HoT triggers will hit 2-3 mobs and then the pack will be dead. If that's enough (and you don't mind having no curses at all vs bosses), all good. In theory you can also add Arc into your CoH setup with a 6L. =P | ||

I was thinking about using something else for curse generation as well. I am not married to using HoT, it actually uses up too much of my mana since I want to really use Arctic Armor. This character stands around a lot and spams Ice Nova, having extra up to 13% physical damage reduction helps a lot. If I use Blasphemy I cannot fit both Arctic Armor and HoI and Discipline, this is why I am looking into other ways. As you said HoI is not that good for cursing enemies, but HoT also uses up mana I need for these 3 I want to use. So for additional curse generating option I was thinking about using 5L: OoS+PCoC+CoH+2 curses. Another options is a Writhing Jar flask for activating HoI or HoT to curse bosses without adds. I plan to use Frostbite as a main curse and Warlord's Mark or Assassin's Mark as secondary. If I go for Occultist I can also get +1 curse and get Enfeeble as part of CwDT setup. | ||

This is very useful information. I have been testing setups based on just using HoI now. I got rid of HoT, and I got HoI+CoH+Frostbite+Assassin's Mark on my life Ice Nova Elementalist. To help vs enemies with no adds, I got another setup that is OoS+PCoC+CoH+Frostbite. I was able to now fit both Discipline and Arctic Armor into even this non CI version. I am pretty sure this is what I am going to be using for CI version whether I go Occultist or Assassin but Warlord's Mark instead of Assassin's Mark. And this is a setup without even a 5L :D If I get 5L I would probably use it for OoS+PCoC+CoH+Frostbite+Warlord's Mark :D | ||

Now that character is OK but I was thinking on how to improve it. My main problem with this character is enemy resistances (and it is pointless trying to reduce 3 of them and I would rather use my one curse for Warlord's Mark or Enfeeble) so I want to rebuild this character as a Inquisitor. I would just transfer over all equipment I have but on this character without Deadeye Drillneck is no longer a good choice. Rigwald's Quills would be a good replacement but that thing is both expensive and nobody is selling it. Now the question is if something like Voidwalker boots would work with Drillneck bonus damage (I plan to use Voidwalker for sure to keep my Pierce chance) or should I be looking at good rare quivers for that bonus damage? | ||
