That's exactly why so many like it, because D2 set the fucking standard and almost nothing has come close to it yet so why not take it as a base and just improve it's flaws rather than trying to out do it with some new super systems that sound good but never work for a damn

Id also have to say, theres only a handful of people working on the game, so there is a certain intimacy compared to something like d2 or d3, which has Blizzard backing it.

has anyone played titan quest? I thought that game had much more potential than d2, but I'm not sure why it didn't get big.. I think because it wasn't balanced for pvp or it didn't have multiplayer

rofl, I really like the countdown timer on their webpage. Actually funny to see who gets a beta key and who is next.
gogogo!

This could be fun, signed up for beta a week ago. Lets see if my name rolls by... Seems like the beta is completely random, the two guys being picked right now has 0 posts and one hasn't logged back into the website since nov 2010.

I don't like the "who's next" part, cause I know if I get picked those next 20mins waiting for it to really get to me is going to drive me insane

Does anyone know if you can play the game immidiately when getting a key? It's not like the beta keys are handed right now but servers go online in a couple of hours?
I'd love to see some new vids!

One issue I have with the game is for a smaller indie game like this to have it's player based split into so many leagues feels kind of odd and might make them pretty "lonely"

You usually want to have a wide array of different people so going completely random makes sense. Unless the beta is for high end content or stuff like that.

Dude i LOVED Titan Quest! i totally thought that every RPG i played after that, was just ripping it off in some way. Like the way the loot comes flying out of chests and stuff, Exactly like the modern day RPG. It should have gotten bigger, it was using the Age of Empires 3 engine, at the time, it was a gorgeous game....... man im so bored right now lol gimme a key damnit!

If they have the time and energy to do that, I dare say they deserve to be in the beta if they get in.

New post from one of the devs with some good news for those wanting invites
"Hi guys,
I'm starting a new thread so that you'll actually see this post - the other thread is getting pretty long.
I wanted to make a few points:
a) Yes, it will change to five minutes per user very soon. It just had to finish its queue of twenty minute people first.
b) We're not just inviting people with zero posts. Forum users do stand a much better chance of getting in, it's just that they are outnumbered by other fans who signed up and haven't posted. It is fair for the other guys to get in too - many of them do read the forums (even when not logged in), and it would really suck to exclude them just because they haven't discussed the game with us yet.
c) The rate of people we're inviting is to keep up with our server and support scaling. We'll do what we can to get as many people as possible on, but it's going to be a slow ramp up until thousands of people have access.
d) There are other ways to get into the Beta! We'll be giving out lots of keys to fansites, and maybe posting them on places like Facebook and Twitter periodically. Keep an eye out and you may get lucky "

The game looks pretty good but I don't agree it's what D3 should have been. I'm looking forward to both.
