Chelsea's Absolutely crushing QPR right now. Still a chance to make it into CL without winning the whole thing.

Meh I think people who support teams from a different area to where they are from is okay a) if they are foreign, or b) if they have a relative who got them into that team. Pretty much any other reason, in my mind, makes them dubious. But still it's true if you support the club and stay true...your voice and money are as useful to the club as anyone else. Brother! The game at the moment is very very entertaining after the high tension barcelona games. A nice stroll in the park.

Not really a glory hunter if they are now sticking with them through the ruff. Maybe if they then started supporting Chelsea under Mourinho and now City then yeah. Thats a glory hunter. Also the people who magically became Barca supporters over the last few years. They are glory hunters. Well you say that, but if you only support a team, even if at first, because they're winning - then that surely makes one a glory hunter? It's funny you mention Arsenal, because this fan group particularly erks me in some other football based forums. At the start of the season they all wanted Wenger out, posting stuff about how he knows nothing etc - when the vast majority of them only support Arsenal because of the Invincible team you mentioned - and thus thanks to Wenger. Read Chelsea fans booing Ferdinand. Stoke fans booed Ramsey. What the fuck.

But that translates into SC2 and other sports. Being a fan is situational and dependant on many things. A lot of people will have been fans because their Dads were fans and in turn those Dads are fans because of their Dads and so on, other people support because of marketing and getting the name out there. 95% of Scarlett fans weren't fans prior to IPL4 90% of NesTea fans weren't fans prior to him being in GSL Works in a lot of things but exposure and publicity and constantly being out there makes people more aware of teams to support.

I agree with you, thats how it is these days. I still think its laughable when people switch teams, or start supporting teams because they win. You can switch house, car and even wife, but not your football team!

Yeah it's different with football and SC2 because the football teams have been there since before we were born in most cases, sometimes for a century. If you're a football fan you grow up supporting a team and if you switch as an adult...it's literally a thousand times worse than murder. + Show Spoiler + Well okay not that bad In other news, I believe Blackburn have yet to have a shot on goal in this game? Spurs might be a shambles atm but even we can beat a team that seems to have no inclination to attempt to score.

In Starcraft, players come and go much more quickly, and you don't really learn about most players until they actually perform well, so it's not really bandwagonning in SC2. Back when I first started watching Starcraft, my favorite player quickly became NaDa. Sure, he's the most successful player of all time (Flash might actually challenge him now, don't follow much any more), but how could you really know who NaDa was before he started winning, especially with how coverage works for an e-sport and how quickly he came on to the scene? With professional sports, the teams have been there for a long time, and there are things like your birth place, current residence,or parents'/family members' teams to influence who you root for. For instance, the first team I ever liked was the Jacksonville Jaguars (American football) because I was born there. Now I have an intense pride in the Jags, even though I grew up in and still currently live in Minnesota. Even my love for BVB goes deeper than any SC player because of the fact that I follow these teams throughout years and years, cheering for them even when they have completely different players from when I first started cheering for them. And yes, betraying your club/team is one of the worst sins imaginable. Florida is an embarrassment to this nation politically, yet I couldn't live with myself if I ever stopped cheering for the Jaguars. You stick with your teams through the worst.

I got really pissed off when we were taken over by Roman Abramovich because it made me think 'everyone will whine about how we have money now, ffs', it actually put me off football for a few years lol. I was kind of like a reverse glory hunter.
