Those kara teleport caught me by surprise against a good Ibuki on XBL.
I wasn't aware she could whiff cancel that move now, it's a pretty good trick for a character that already had a ton of gimmicks you need to look for.

Matchmaking never took into account BP ever, so being matched against the "#3 Ibuki" doesn't mean anything if you're 1000 PP and he's 1000 PP, that's a same-skill match. BP is mostly just a gauge of how often you play a character in Ranked. PP is the actual Elo/skill rating, and that's what the matchmaker uses to find opponents.

True, but after a while once things iron out, the #3 Ibuki will also (typically, probably) have more than 1000 PP lol.

The "#X [char]" doesn't mean much for the first ~week when BP is barely going down with losses

It also can be used for a red focus combo (her only decent one I've found(hopefully she doesn't have a really easy and good one or I'll feel bad :D ) and useful for footsies because you can Tsmujji and poke well. When pressuring in the corner it is a real bitch for the person in it because you can easily just do a corner combo.

What do you guys think of Ibuki's footsies? I'm convinced they're better than most and only lag a little when it comes to certain fireball characters. My experience is limited to primarily a few characters though because I mostly play with friends.

She has good buttons for sure ( crMP is her best, but farLK, crMK are also good pokes and she has a 3 frames crLP now which is really useful. ) but she's still suffer a bit against characters that are actually good at Footsies. :<

And her onyl way to combo into red focus is fHP indeed.

Yup, she was roughly around 3000 PP while I was ~500 PP...

Out of all games I play, this is the one where I actually get the least frustrated when things aren't going my way. I don't know why, it is just that way. Just recently, I got way more frustrated in Europa Universalis 4 than I think I've ever been in Street Fighter.

Haha seems to be exactly the other way round for me... Especially since the transition over to Steam. Before Ultra came out me and my friends (not really casuals, but still rather bad at the game, I guess) were able to frequently win matches against decent or even more skilled opponents and had a PP range of roughly 1500-2000 (SSFIV:AE) playing a pretty wide range of characters (I'm playing Ryu, Elfuerte and Makoto).

Now that USFIV is out (netcode performance aside lol) I feel like I haven't been playing this game for the last year at all... I think until now I really didn't know a game could be SO frustrating with really close to 0 bad people like our group. From time to time you manage to maybe take 1 round off a top 20-50 guy (while he most likely let that happen on purpose), but scoring wins is almost impossible. Even trying to limit the possible opponents to those of "similar skill" results in getting paired with #3 Ibuki etc.
On consoles, however, this doesn't seem to be the case, my friend got the game on PS3 and told me he has a very smooth online experience being matched up with players of truly similar skill level. Why is PC so much much MUCH harder than console right now?!

Winning maybe 1 out of 20-30 matches just to get your ass handed to you in complete dominant fashion in the next plethora of matches is highly demotivating and (paired with the WORST online experience ever in a game) just makes me want to quit this shit already and start focussing on SC2 again ^^.

No, really, I love Street Fighter, but it really triggers my anger more than any other game right now...

Just goes to show how much more hardcore gamers on PC are.

Besides that though, the game is older. As the game gets older there are less noobs playing, and the percentage of decent to great players goes up, at the same time new players are discouraged even more to play because they are trying to join into a scene with no equal skilled players and they get sick of being owned.

Same thing happened with SC2 about 2 years ago, which coupled with the weird points deteriorating thing and people also dropping ranks etc it was discouraging to not be advancing in skill or barely advancing.

I'm pretty decent at 3rd strike, and I played a bit of Vanilla SF4. So I'm not a complete noob, but there are times (usually at night/off peak) where I play only good players and drop like 500-600 PP easily.

Honestly don't care about the PP though, just wanna see my T.Hawk rank go up.

If I could just get 720s more consistently, I think I could take a lot more rounds though too. That damage is ridic.

Well that break didn't really work, I've been playing again for a few days and I still lose every match as Makoto.. Starting to question if I want to play who I think is most fun (Makoto) or one that I have an easier time with.. I've got combos, I can execute hit confirm hayates and all that shit in real matches I just can't win any damn games and it's really frustrating that I'm still like this after 250 hours.

Makoto is insanely hard to play, don't be surprised. Took me nearly 1000 hours to get decent with her.

My advice is focus yourself on improving your anti air game with crMK, stMP and stMK and your spacing by moving with fMP, fLK and walking and reducing the amount of dashes.

Any US Abel players on here that are willing to play sometime? I'm getting my ass handed to me by any decent Abel I find.
Anyone have some advice they'd like to share against him? (ibuki player)

Edit: I hate asking for advice because I just went to SRK forums and found lots of stuff. Anyway tips are still appreciated

Looks like I'm going to have to take a long hiatus from USF4. My stick has been getting old and worn out and it's to the point where I just can't play anymore. Too much frustration, also need some new buttons, my LP tends to stick. Can't afford either for the time being unfortunately.

I follow OMH on the replay channel and I've seen a few replays starring our own Noocta. Always amusing to see a clash of two worlds, so to say

Not that I've seen! Good matches. Though I can imagine if you've played him many times then you're understandably remembering the rough parts ;D

I was just trying out the replay upload feature from PC USF4, and it sucks.

First of all it has to play the replay you have saved and it records (can't skip cinematics).

Then it lags really bad while recording.

Then it takes 20 minutes to upload 4 minute video.

And lists as private for some reason.

Then it comes out all choppy like this:

Anyone know how to fix that?

I'm probably better off just playing with procaster on and uploading files.

What's your computer like, and internet? It went pretty quick to upload mine, 10 minutes and great framerate on the video with no stutter.

Internet is great, have uploaded larger files much faster outside of the game.

http://i.imgur.com/tHug889.jpg

edit- managed to use procaster to record (albeit lower quality)

Here are half of the vids I uploaded so far (versus higher ranked players).

Can anyone offer any tips/advice?

My friend bought this for me because he's a sad, miserable man and has played SF alone for years.

The closest thing I've ever played to a fighting game before now was Smash Bros. I must admit, I'm pretty shocked at how utterly abysmal I am. I knew I'd suck, but I didn't think it was possible to go 1-50 (literally) in anything on Earth. That being said I'm strangely having a good time... I think it's because this game is so damned pretty.
