hey I want to start playing some fighter games when the AE comes out on PC.
Just to be sure... would this stick work for PC?

And yes, this stick will work just perfect, and if you get very serious into fighting games and the arcade stick you can buy sanwa (real japanese arcade) buttons and a stick and mod it yourself.

Yes, that seems to be the Madcatz SE stick. The buttons are a bit 'harder', but they can be easily swapped out for Sanwa buttons when you feel like upgrading.

Top 3 charge characters at the moment, imo, is: Dictator, Boxer, Honda. Dictator can run away pretty well, Boxer has ways to get in and put on pressure and Honda still packs good damage, but has some bad matchups, imo.

I don't like Filipino Champ too much, he always chokes under pressure. I like Arturo's Sim over Champ's. I'd love to see Clakey get on Complexity, that would be sweet! His Ibuki is quite impressive, nerves of steel. I feel Clockwork does ok in Marvel, but it's so hard to gauge levels of skill when not all the top players are competing. Really curious to see if they can resist the japanese heat that is Tokido at Evo this year with Marvel. I say he's taking all their monies :D

Some interesting matches:

Because you're thinking of the nerfs relative to two new characters that have yet to be figured out completely.

Remove the twins from your head for a brief period of time, and realize hwo much more balanced this game is than Super was.

Yes, the twins are strong but don't use that as a basis of, well they shouldn't ahve nerfed them because of the twins.

ya minus the twins the game is more balanced

but include twins and months of japanese bp rankings where the top 5 was like 4 twins and fei, capcom should know whats up

u can't do things like nerf most projectile characters and all these aa's while putting that 3s divekick bullshit back into the game. 3s had parry. this game was dumbed down from its inception in order to breathe life back into the fighting game world (which i didn't mind so much because the more the merrier as long as the game system works out) but with ae they made poor decisions.

even that man daigo knows whats up.

they know they fucked up. sc2 is blessed to have blizzard testing via ptr and patching when needed.

fighting games need to have a system like that in order to fully evolve. i got nothing but love for capcom, and i will still enter tournaments and travel after all this bitching, but they gotta step it up. mvc3 and ae are not good signs for the future.

im also up for games on ps3 or pc when it comes out.

you can use your ps3 pad on the pc. there's a tutorial on youtube i think

MVC3 and Mk9 have balance patch capabilities. As well as new age arcade machines such as Blazblue CS2 and TTT2 afaik. Large factor in console patching iirc is how you need to jump through an entire circus of hoops to release a significant patch for a game on XBL.

Also personally, patching is overrated. You end up with a community that relies on developers to fix their problems rather then working it out themselves. SF4 updates every year, which is more than enough if the developer cared about balance.

I've read different release dates being listed for different regions etc, so I have a couple of questions: Will this game be region locked or have any differences depending on where you purchase the game (like Starcraft 2) or is it purely just a difference in release dates? Also on steam it says the release date for me is the 9th but I heard if you buy it on steam in NA you can download it on the 5th. Does this mean purchasing it on steam also have different release dates depending on where you are?

I'm currently in Australia. Thanks.

There is no region lock, you can play whoever you want. I don't know why they have separate release dates though. Must be a Steam thing, I guess. For Europe, it's showing the 8th of July as well.

who do you guys think are the best charge chars in AE?

Guile has always been a strong charge character in every sf game.

Granted, he is very hard to master, but his zoning is comparable to Seth

Also, vega (claw) is just annoying when he spams

Guile fcking blows in AE though. I still say Honda is the best charge character he has a good escape options and good damage. Bison Balrog and Chun are the next best charge characters imo.

Strongest ones in AE are Fei Long, Yun and Yang. They are rushdown ftw and will destroy everyone else.

ive spent the last 2 days in training mode with dudley... after having played only chargers for 1.5 years and just recently (4 weeks or smth) picking up ken, dudley is a whole different beast when it comes to execution... gonna take me at least half a year before i can even dream of pulling his combos on a somewhat consistent basis in match T_T

I don't think anyones arguing its Yun on top, then Yang/Fei as the next two. The point is that pedro just randomly puts it out there and says absolutely nothing of use.

Arcade Edition is runing on Japan for some time now. I do not have the insights to explain the why (I've not played any fighting games except MvC3 for some time now), but every top japanese player agrees that Fei Long, Yun and Yang are ahead at the rest of the cast.

This is the tier lists by some of the most renowed players in the world. These lists are the most respected and used by the Shoryuken community.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/jan/30/complete-ssf4-arcade-edition-tiers-daigo-mago-tokido/

And Seth won the SS, ok (the players was poonkgo?) Not because he is the strongest, but because the player did better in strategy, gameplay, execution and mindgames.

EDIT
This tier list is more up to date
