I saw they released some new 360 controllers with better d-pads, anybody know if they came to pc as well? If this is a bad idea does anybody know where to get a cheap fighting stick in Australia? Thanks a lot ^_^

It's not impossible, its just different. My suggestion is to get a fightpad (maybe 20-30 bucks, just look for them on ebay) that way you can have all 6 buttons and a decent sized d-pad on your controller. Many of the best players use pads (Vangief, Wolfkrone, Inthul, etc.). So its not impossible, but they all use fightpads not just a 360 controller. All 360 sticks should be able to be used on PC's, same with PS3 sticks but sometimes there are chipset issues. Good cheap sticks don't exist, you either get a TE which'll be 100-150 dollars, or you get an SE which'll be 50, and then you can mod Sanwa parts into it and it'll cost you 85ish if you're comfortable opening it up and switching parts out.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-1i-49-en-70-3d9n.html If you really want to just go for a cheap arcade style stick. I'm not sure the size of those buttons or how easy that stick is to mod but if you NEVER plan on upgrading to authentic parts you might as well go the cheap option lol. (I honestly do suggest, and I think many fighting game players, would suggest just saving up for a TE, its really worth it if you plan on playing regularly.)

With the choice of 1 TE or 2 SE, I would definitely go with the 2 SEs so you can play with a friend. You need friendly competition to keep your hunger to improve going - playing strictly online sucks ass.

I bought an SE played on it for a bit and even without the mechanical problems that Excalibur ran into I felt that a TE would just be a better choice. Nobody on Shoryuken and probably on here as well, has probably ever bought a TE and said "shit I should have bought an SE and sanwa buttons instead!" Everyone who buys a TE recognizes its worth it if you plan on playing fighting games for a while, instead of a game you pick up and toss aside forever (if thats the case, just get a pad)

Well the problem is, on the internet TE sticks in the UK are costing around £150-£180.00 ($240 - $290.00) atm. Also other SE/Hori sticks are costing around £59-69.00 ($100 to $115.00) I have found cheaper but they arn't in stock... gonna hit the high street to see if I can get lucky ![]()

But http://shoryuken.com/ had slipped my mind.

Once AE comes out on PC tomororw, there will probalby be a ton of lobbies, how long that lasts remains to be seen, but the scene should exist. Also, that link you posted, 85 dollars is way too expensive in my opinion, for cheap parts. It costs ~35 dollars to buy your own buttons and a stick and replace it so I highly suggest not buying that, even a Madcatz SE, or Hori or any crap you buy that isn't a TE, should be cheaper than 85 and will be MUCH easier to modify later (Madcatz is rated very highly in the community due to the ease of modifying parts, everything is snap in, requires zero soldering wires or using power tools, which is a HUGE bonus).

If ebay.co.uk doesn't work sometimes there'll be american sellers that'll ship overseas, might cost a bit more Also, another suggestion do NOT pay extra for an upgraded sanwa stick of button, it'll almost always cost way too much. A Sanwa JLF (stick) should only cost 12-15 bucks and each button is no more than 3 dollars each. so like I said upgrading an SE to a TE should only cost 30-35 bucks tops if you do it yourself (very easy on a madcatz stick, TONS of tutorials on youtube and stuff).
