It won't be the first time a (big) fighter is released for PC in ages this time around. 2. It (hopefully) won't be outdated half a year after its release, and it's released close to the console release. 3. Online is now secure, you can't play with any GFWL key. How much this will hurt the available player pool remains to be seen. 4. While SF4 didn't have high requirements, 2 years have passed and so more people will be able to run it. Most new laptops will be powerful enough. Also, this is supposedly the *last* installment in the SF4 series (though as we know, capcom probably won't follow through with that) The way that they've been talking (Seth Killian, Ono, etc) seems like that is completely not set in stone so hold dat. I can totally see that coming

So i recently ordered two of these: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-49-en-70-3tiz.html (shipping was a bitch) for a lan i'm having with some friends. I kind of didn't expect it to have the PS2 connectors, and hunted down a usb converter. It'll probably arrive tomorrow. + Show Spoiler [this one] + A pretty long while ago i heard that these things can cause some lag, will i notice anything? Especially since this one is dirt-cheap (~10euros).
I'll be picking up this game soon, but for the time being i've pirated SF4 vanilla. I started playing ryu (because his specials are easy as fuck, lolol), and watched the cross-counter guide on him like twice. Way above my head, but it still interesting. But since TL's consensus seems to be that sakura is boss, her specials are basically the same as ryu's and shes way purdier than ryu, i'll be switching over to her. Where should i apply for the all-sakura team?
edit: also teching a throw on reaction seems super impossible, but i'm probably just bad.

^^^ You might want to edit that post.

Nah, it's pretty much impossible to tech throws on reaction to just the throw itself unless your reaction time is godlike. Throws hit on the 3rd frame and you get a 7 frame window after it hits to tech it, so there's only 1/6th of a second to see the throw animation and press throw yourself.
What people can and actually do react to is the opponent moving into throw range. Also you can recognize situations where the opponent would want to throw. And in the SF4 engine, a lot of people just option select crouch throw tech (you're allowed to tech throws crouching) when pressured. Of course there are ways to beat the crouch throw tech, so that's just one defensive option. Sometimes you just have to take the throw damage and not worry too much about it.

Will the game be available at midnight eastern time, or does steam use a different time zone?

That kind of attitude is why we didn't get SSF4 for PC.

And how most developers don't put much effort into the PC version compared to console.

Agreed.
Don't pirate the game dude. If you do, at least buy it.

CS for xbox was complete shit, as is Starcraft 64
Besides, Capcom released AE knowing full well it will be pirated (hence no ssfiv release). There are people who don't want to pay, simple as that. Capabilities in the cracked copy will probably be missing, ie Internet play. More importantly, AE is a console game. All the tournaments happen on a 360/ps3, and I don't think there will be any major tourneys hosted on PC as it is. While you can pirate games for the 360, you still lose XBL.
I feel justified in torrenting myself (if I need to) since I have purchased every sf4 release for xbox (vanilla, super, ae) and I don't want to pay for the exact same game twice. Hell, I even paid for the 3DS version (didn't pay for the iPhone version cuz it was a sack of crap)

My ID is "iamexalted". I didn't bother seeking partners on TL as I'm in Taiwan and will lag with any Americans/Euros. People can still add but probably preferable if they're in Australia/Asia themselves.
Zlasher, that's why I said "ironically" about the HitBox. Just something I would want to try out.

Doesn't unlock until 5AM saturday for me o0
In other news though now that I got past a rather embarassing roadblock figuring out how cancels work I've started to really get Juri downpact, managed to get up to trial 16 on my friends XboX, super pumped for the PC release, I also found an old SNES fight stick in my cupboard the other day, whenever the USB converter rocks up will have to see if it still works like it used to.
