Only reason I like Diablo 2 still is the multiple good mods for it, for example Median XL and Path of Diablo. The small inventory is abysmal and would already make me not want to play it. Then there's no endgame besides Baal and cows. I can see the Ressurrected version being extremely popular for a week or two though, for that it's probably fun.
As of now, I have not intention of buying it though. I would probably buy it if the mods would continue to be there, but from the Path of Diablo reddit I know that mods are only going to be single player so that should severely limit the amounts of mods being created (PoD won't as it's meant for online play, maybe Median XL will but I doubt it since it's extremely different and also has a decent amount of online players).
I used to play Diablo 2 non modded a lot, but there is better stuff out there now imo. (PoE, Grim Dawn (even with a D2 mod if one wants), D2 modded)
As for the alpha, it does look good though. Much better than what happened with the Warcraft 3 fiesta.
Path of Diablo resurrected is 99% not happening because Blizz won’t allow the dll or w/e is required to have modded version playable online. Also developer for PoD, Greendude has stated multiple times he has no intention of starting from scratch.
Our best hope for D2 resurrected (and its anticipated player base) is to hope blizzard actually gets development input for future patches from the community. Maps and item/skill tweaks.
I thought about the legacy inventory space and I dont mind since shared space tab is a thing now. Less space sucks but I feel this is bottom of the list for concerns.
My main concern is if blizzard can roll out a simple, sophisticated loot filter option. That’s gonna be a real game breaker for a lot of active D2 mod players. I’m currently rocking a super strict filter where I only see rejuvs and like 5% of uniques/set items and runes only above Lum. It’s literally game changing having a loot filter that caters to your preference.

game changing seems like a bit of an exaggeration? at best you probably shave off like what....2 seconds? on a baal run. i havent felt the need for a loot filter ever. just not that hard to skim over loot tbh
game is not laggy. try to lower the resolution scale at ingame. I have seen plenty streamers yesterday and only MrLlama had a laggy game until he figured out. He also plays on HDD and ancient gtx970.

The loot clutter is an eye sore for me personally.
“Game changing” is probably not the best description, but I’m bad with words.
Edit: Llama playing with an HDD is so funny since he’s a speed runner. Also SSDs are so cheap now 1tb/$100 is the norm (maybe even better).

You're right, thanks! That's definitely a trade-off... less lag at the expense of serious resolution changes. Also, apparently the Alpha doesn't open up properly on some PCs, which is annoying.
If I understood correctly this Alpha will last until Monday and only 3 playable classes, only single player and 2 acts in it? Not missing much. Glad game looks decent (for first Alpha) and likely to be finished and polished on release. I guess they "learned" a bit from insanely terrible WC3:R release.

Yep, although I don't know if there's a level cap, so maybe you can grind out exp and level up just for fun.
As expected, MrLlamaSC has an awesome analysis of D2:R Alpha...

Loot filtering isn't about difficulty, it is about efficiency. The person who spends a second less looting in a game that you loot constantly is going to play a lot faster and therefore better.
Lets see how much "nostalgia glasses" can impact my enjoyment of this game vs POE , this is going to go up vs POE 2 for my playing time i assume , but i cant see how i can just skip this game if it gets positive reviews by old time D2 gamers , i had some of the best time of my gaming life playing this game , BUT after D3 cost me a week off from work , just hoping to be able to login and the shit game it was on lunch , i promised to never buy day 1 games ,this will be no different.
