When you compare it to the other new features (gels, funnel, bridges) there are a lot less ways the player can interact with the vent. Uses don't go much further than "place a portal here to get rid of things" which doesn't add a lot of diversity to puzzles. The player gets to use the other features to change the layout and increase map coverage (especially in co-op).

on a youtube video description there was a translation for the end opera, apparently it's Italian and goes something like, "My dear, my child, what a pity, stay away, yes away, from science, my dear, my child." It's the first result if you search for "Turret opera" I wonder how this ties into the Caroline = Chell's mother theory, as the turrets are singing on behalf of GLaDOS... Damn, just went back one more page than I had before posting, it's been mentioned before. Here's a picture of a giraffe instead: ![]()

You are getting closer to the end, the pace picks up a lot in chapter 8, although that might just be me having major issues wrapping my head around the stuff introduced in the last part of chapter 7.

Caroline is in GLaDOS, and would have recognized Chell if it were her daughter. and i bet Cave Johnson is sterile from all that science anyways.

Either way it makes for an entertaining read.

I dove into the single player for a few hours and was just soo sucked into the story I couldn't believe how fast time was going by. Then my buddy (who was lame and did not get/stay up to play asap) woke up and we dove right into Co-op. I love how they have expanded on the flavor of the world of Aperture Science in every detail. I've been finding a lot of complaints about the shortness of the game, which I suppose is valid considering Portal has limited replay value (unless you go die-hard speed running). However when you consider that you can pay 10$ to go see a Film at the theaters Portal more than pays off for it's 6 hour single player and roughly equivalent Co-Op. + Show Spoiler + For those speculating on Chell's origins you should check out the Steam forums, theres quite a bit people trying to find evidence of a possible relation between Chell, GlaDos, Caroline, and Cave Johnson. I personally don't think it fits too well that Chell is the daughter of GLaDos/Cave, but there is proof that Chell was brought into Aperature for Bring your daughter to work day and remember.. Thats the perfect time to have her Tested!

I suppose compared to many games it is quite short, but compare it to the original Portal. I ran through that game in 3 hours and 13 minutes, and I'm not all that great at these types of games. At least Portal 2 took multiple sittings (for me at least) and proved much more challenging in my opinion.

Back in the days when you started a game, let us say Quake 1, the mouse moved smoothly and felt perfectly, but now every new game I play feels so terrible. First I thought it was because it was ported from Xbox or something, but I even notice this is Portal 2. The mouse just feels terrible, and even when trying to adjust settings it just does not feel right. Why is this? Did newer games incorporate something that just mess up mouse movement, and is there a fix? Anyone experience this, and what could be the setting I look for? I was worried this would happen in Star2 aswell, but it did not, as it only seem to happen in new 3d games. The vertical and horizontal movement also does not seem to sync. I just can't enjoy Portal 2 having so bad control over the movement, the acceleration feels weird, and just about everything.

Fallout New Vegas mouse control seems pretty weird, but I didn't have the same problem with Portal 2. It feels just like on the desktop. Maybe some games try to add mouse acceleration or a custom sensitivity. I know that Counter Strike 1.6 does that, as every time I alt-tab out of the game, my mouse feels really different. Considering CS1.6 and Portal 2 are both from Valve, maybe you should try and tweak both your mouse and in-game sensitivity.

There might've been some things that she remembered after seeing Chell, but at the same time she could've just been making things up or had looked at her file.
