Nope not really. Its a pretty mediocre action-game with very little stealth aspect. Better save the money for a better game.

Splinter Cell Conviction is not like early splinter cell games. It's more action oriented, while the first one, pandora tomorrow and chaos theory are hardcore stealth. So if you're looking for a action/stealth game, go for conviction, if you're looking for a real stealth game, go for Chaos theory or even the thief series.
Edit: Also anyone who likes dungeon crawlers should get legend of grimrock.

It's great if you like dungeon crawlers. Plenty of puzzles, character building and not-easy combat.

That "always online" requirement has been removed after release since everybody reacted very negatively to it.
By the way, I thought the game in general was a very good action game. Good presentation, pretty nice combat, and you feel like a badass if you do things right. Just don't expect it to be like older Splinter Cell games (at all).

I've really enjoyed my hours with Recettear so far, if you want a simple JRPG with quite a twist to it (you run an itemshop and you're dungeoncrawling for phat lewts to sell). I haven't played enough of it to say anything about the longevity, but I'd recommend it if you want to check out something a little different. It's currently 50% off and now for the price of 7,49. One "drawback" is that it's truly made for play with a controller. I haven't even really tried to play with keyboard, so I don't know what it's like, but the fact that even the mainmenu doesn't take mouseinput should give you an indication.. But I do realise this game is not for everyone, and it's always wise to do a bit of research before making purchases Edit: I believe the game also has a demo, I'm not sure how far in that demo goes. Edit 2: About the longevity: On July 23 2012 07:13 Blitzkrieg0 wrote: There is no longevity to the game. You do the exact same thing over and over again until you get bored and stop playing. ai war has a free demo with a tutorial. its not easy to explain in a post.

I don't think I can draw parallels to other games since I don't play that many in the genre. Maybe Homeworld or Sins of the Solar Empire? I highly recommend the game so maybe I can sell it to you with some description.
The AI has control over the entire galaxy. You choose a starting planet and begin building your base there. As you scout out nearby planets, you decide where you want to expand your empire. You then attack and take over those systems from the AI in order to get more economy, production, technology, etc. The catch is that the AI gets stronger and more aggressive the higher your threat level, which increases over time as well as when you destroy certain AI structures. You try to strategically expand until you can assault the AI homeworlds.
The game really shines in multiplayer. Every game is obviously more fun with friends but this one has a bunch of nice features. You can host a single-player saved game and a friend can join and play with you. Also, the game is only co-op against the AI so you aren't fighting against eachother. The only downside is that you share a threat level so if your strategies differ you may be arguing with your friends.

Thanks Durak, ended up being sold after watching some youtube and read forums, talked a friend into it and buying a copy for a third friend, seems to be a game that alot of time will disappear to !
i have a hunch some of you are steam employers trying to steal my money :p

wow the stardock bundle is such a scam, you buy trinity and rebellion with it, but rebellion has everything that trinity has.

No it's just that the RT4X genre should get boosted for the amount of nice games that are in it. It's usually long hours for each game so the trigger happy folks won't like it, but they miss out on great games like GalCiv and Sins of a Solar Empire.

except even as an action game it sorta sucks. the whole mark/execute system just means you don't even have to aim most of the time.

My friend got me Spliter Cell Convinction and it was okay, but I never really felt it was that amazing. We played through the coop too, but the things that people have already whined about didn't change, sooo... yeah.

For me personally, it was still worth it (wasn't expecting it to be a huge timesink). Thanks for the heads up anyway (and for those who would be interested)!

i personally enjoyed conviction, but it definitely isn't as good as chaos theory. the style of game did change some, from stealth to a more action/stealth genre, but i think it still works. my only real complaint with the game is the mark/execute system, which makes some parts of the game too easy. however you do not have to use this feature when you play through (i personally just ignored it). i also liked the coop. nothing amazing but i thought it was a solid game, worth checking out for $5.

Sweet, Just Cause 2 won the communitys choice and will be on sale in 30 minutes.

You've got me intrigued now. Is it worthwhile to pick up all the DLC or will the base game suffice?
should read nested quotes before posting ^_^

the DLC is good, but you will want to play the game without them first because they add like 200 ship types and 10-20 factions that can spawn...its too complicated.
