If someone could recommend game with a good storyline or some hard "challenge mode" to beat would be much appreciated. I'm repeating myself but still: " AI War: Fleet Command" & expansions. Storyline is non-existant but it's still the best AI in any game available today. It's scary and also designed for coop. If you think you might like a kind of 4x game with an AI that will remind you of the evil rogue AI in some good sci-fi books, go for it. Edit: SPAZ is a good pickup for 2 bucks I'd say. It's not really omgomg must-have-super-awesome (my current in-dev fav for this genre is Starfarer) but still very much worth that price. Great to burn a few hours here and there. For potential German customers; - I'm not sure what it's like nowadays but I can only install my Bioshock version in German, not in English - which annoys the crap out of me. =( hey r.evo, i'm thinking about getting ai war now after what you've said, thinking of buying it for myself and a friend. hows the gameplay? do you build bases, research? similiar to any other game maybe? trying to get as much as info i can about it so i know if i should get it! ai war has a free demo with a tutorial. its not easy to explain in a post. Challenge accepted. I don't think I can draw parallels to other games since I don't play that many in the genre. Maybe Homeworld or Sins of the Solar Empire? I highly recommend the game so maybe I can sell it to you with some description. The AI has control over the entire galaxy. You choose a starting planet and begin building your base there. As you scout out nearby planets, you decide where you want to expand your empire. You then attack and take over those systems from the AI in order to get more economy, production, technology, etc. The catch is that the AI gets stronger and more aggressive the higher your threat level, which increases over time as well as when you destroy certain AI structures. You try to strategically expand until you can assault the AI homeworlds. The game really shines in multiplayer. Every game is obviously more fun with friends but this one has a bunch of nice features. You can host a single-player saved game and a friend can join and play with you. Also, the game is only co-op against the AI so you aren't fighting against eachother. The only downside is that you share a threat level so if your strategies differ you may be arguing with your friends. You've got me intrigued now. Is it worthwhile to pick up all the DLC or will the base game suffice? should read nested quotes before posting ^_^
Since others already explained the game itself rather well, I'll just stick to this one: Yes.
Arcengames is probably one of the strongest developers in general. It's not uncommon for them to push out multiple patches per week on their dev versions, they are also one of the few devs which release way after they already got enough content. They fix bugs quickly, throw free content updates after you and are just top notch in general.
The expansion packs for AI war make a great deep game even deeper to the point that it gets stupid. As an example as much as I love AI war and as much as I love complex games (Dwarf Fotress? That shit was yesterday) I didn't dare yet to play AI war with the "all ships enabled"-option or past around a level 8 AI - simply because it's too hard/complex for me. =S
For those of you we dragged into this game, make sure to make extensive use of the wiki, it's solid and detailed: http://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Choosing_A_Difficulty_Level
tl;dr: This game is about giving you the best experience possible - that usually means playing as close as possible to your actual skill level. If the first hour was way too easy/boring, just restart and see what you can do on a different difficulty/setting. Unlike any other game I know you can adjust the game just so you're right at the limit of what you can achieve. That's what it makes so stronk.

Football manager good? I've played a demo before but it has so much depth that it didnt feel adequate to really know the game well. I also couldn't find an in game glossary to explain the stats, I played the 2011 version.

Ok guys, so i've got 20 euros, and i'm really intereseted in buying some rts, right now i'm leaning towards DoW2: Retribution. I'm not much into 4x games, but i'll accept recommendations if it's a really good game and is on sale right now. EDIT: I'm taking all recommendations for every genre basically but prefer rts. :D

Because it works. The only reasons for me to switch would be Minecraft (lol) and Sniper Elite v2 (lolol). I'll prolly switch when I get a new system alltogether. =P

XP doesn't get support anymore and game devs are not optimizing their games for xp for months already.
There are other reasons to switch to Win7 besides only games too and only because it works is not enough for a reason, or some ppl would still be sitting here with win 2000 on their machines...
edit: so far, the steamsale was unlucky for me because i had most games i was interested already :/ and mirrors edge didnt make it was a bummer too, still thinking about galactic civ 2 or waiting for legend of pegasus

damn i totally missed the arma2:co sale for 14.99!
did somebuddy bought an extra copy maybe? willing to buy it from you for that price pls!

games dont work for xp because of dx 10 or 11. if you still use xp, you probably dont have a dx 10 card, so the switch wont make those games run anyways :D
