And to make their target group even more clear, they released addons/content where you are down to 4 controlled units or something. And in The Last Stand, you are down to one unit. Dawn of war 1 is pretty good though, the addons have free-play campaigns where you take over a starsystem or a world with your chosen race. Its pretty fun and has some mixed-in RPG elements in the form of commander upgrades.

As for Torchlight, Torchlight2 is coming out and you will get Torchlight1 for free with it. If you can wait, that's the best option.

Dow 2 is good, but just remember it's not an rts game like dow 1. It plays more like diablo mechanically. You control a small amount of squad members and are constantly spamming your skill keys in battles ala diablo 3. I had fun playing it. It can get repetitive, but that's the nature of those type of games. Spawn on a map and kill all enemies till dead and move on to the next mission with similar goals. I only played single player and never touched multi.

If you buy it, it's going to be for the single player which is ok. The multiplayer is the worst I've ever seen in any game. Dawn of War 1 is quite good but very few people are left online.

I was wondering about this as well, and decided to do some reading around. Everything I've read has been invariably positive (good skill system, lots of hidden areas to find, good quest-writing with minimal hand-holding and alternate solutions to quests, etc.) I decided to take the plunge and buy it.

It was a cool game when I played it. Not OMGOMGOMGOMG great, but definitly worth playing. I'd say it's worth it.

The newer Prince of Persia games are very worthwhile imo, though they deviate quite a bit from the old version your thinking of. In general the new games revolve around trying to make the player feel like a badass jumping around/climbing the levels while dealing with occasional monsters that attack you. The time mechanics are very well done and act as both an "Oh Shit" button as well as a neccesary tool to complete some puzzles (I say puzzles, but don't expect anything that will have you scratching you head more than a few seconds). The first game in the Sands of Time series is the most similar to the old SNES version in that it is mostly a platform jumper with some kinda limited (but pretty cool to watch) combat. After that they combat gets much more involved and more fun, but they all have a similar feel in the acrobatics of how you get around and fight. I definitely recommend, though I cant speak for the most recent 2 releases as I have not tried them.
