SL 97 doing fights in the last area of the game. Just 1v1 duels from dragon covenant I believe. Pretty awesome. Especially around 9:30 when his enemy does a brutal 3 hit riposte against him. I know his sword is a +10 chaos, other than that no clue about anything else.

But yeah it took me about 15 attempts to kill the first black knight, about 5 to kill the taurus demon, and then another 5 deaths to dragon fire bridge before I realised that you need to take off your armor to make it as a slow lumbering knight just isn't fast enough. Not noob friendly but now that I'm getting the hang of the mechanics I find combat more satisfying and fun, and I managed to only die twice to the titanite demon. I still find black knights harder than the 3 bosses I've killed so far, the second black knight on top of the tower took me about 7 attempts to kill it, but atleast it wasn't as bad as the first one. Game is much harder when a knight in the beginning because of the weight slowing you down. Once I figured out to take half of it off so I could actually move decently it was much easier.

Are you supposed to kill those knight, and that fat club guy in the burg area just when you start out? I thought it was like the first game where you backtrack for some opponents later in the game.

Yeah I think you can come back especially for the black knights since they aren't blocking anything important, but one is guarding a nice ring, and they drop the stuff you need to upgrade weapons and armor so its nice to kill them. I didn't know that though and I'm kind of a completionist I have to keep trying and explore everywhere. They are definitely defeatable at a low level though, I just kept making errors, so its a bit of a pain unless you're really good at timing. Also not knowing about encumbrance at the time didn't help, they have really heavy attacks and its hard to dodge with a slow knight. Anyway things are getting a lot easier as a knight now that I figured out to put points in endurance. Stuff doesn't smash through my shield as much and I can move much faster :D. Killed the bell tower boss with only 1 death, and the capra demon only took a few tries, but he wasn't too tough, I mainly died because of getting stuck from those pesky dogs while the boss pounded me. Once I was able to take them out cleanly the boss went down pretty easy. Definitely a lot less frustrating now and more fun now that I have a clue what I'm doing ![]()

So basically, a "pure warrior" can also cast very high damage fire spells. This system is somewhat odd I know. The first ever PvP encounter I had in this game, was with a blue phantom who was helping me out on a level; A black warrior phantom invaded, and was able to kill us both. He had tons of health as a warrior, and he killed us with fire spells up close that hurt a ton. I suggest you have enough Strength/Dexterity for the weapon and shield you plan to use. Getting "powerful weapons" isn't necessarily required, especially early on. An upgraded Drake Sword will carry you for quite a while. Endurance should hit 40 as soon as possible. At 40 Endurance, your stamina bar will be at max and will no longer grow. Any extra points in Endurance will only allow you to wear heavier armor while being able to run and roll "at ease". Rule of thumb, your current Equip Load should never be over 50% of your maximum Equip Load, or your movements will be hindered. Getting high Endurance basically grants you a much better chance of survival due to a larger stamina bar and the ability to wear better armor while remaining nimble at the same time. Vitality is also important, a stat which is self explanatory. In a nutshell, this is what I would do. - Invest Strength/Dexterity whenever weapon/shield requires - Try to have Endurance reach 40 early. Between Endurance and Vitality, I'd probably give it a 2:1 ratio or even 3:1, depending how good you are and how you play. Keep in mind, this is just an indicator for early game. Eventually you'll want to max them all of course. As for a Mage build, I'll just make it short and summarize the path I'm currently heading towards. Intelligence 99 Attunement 50 Endurance 40 Strength/Dexterity to whatever is required based on what I want to use. Vitality 99 Both builds basically follows the same logic I did in Demon Souls, even though there are some differences in the systems (eg. Pyromancy). It's all slowly creeping back to me ![]() ok thx, some more questions: I probably shouldnt only get str for equipment req but also just for doing more damage, right? (except that it doesnt matter for the drake sword, but for betters weapons later on) also, is it worth it to increase faith from 9 to 12 in order to be able to use some miracles? Or will the health increase be way too small after a while because if faith staying at a low 12? And is it worth it to increase my intelligence, at least from 9 to 10 to be able to use magic skills?

I'm just saying Endurance and Vitality is much more important during your first play through. Your call to get it or not. On October 14 2011 23:55 7mk wrote: And is it worth it to increase my intelligence, at least from 9 to 10 to be able to use magic skills? No. Like mentioned, if you want to use magic, you should grab a Pyromancy Flame and use pyro spells, which doesn't require Intelligence to deal a lot of damage. On October 15 2011 00:02 lynx.oblige wrote: Your Pyromancy Flame eventually scales with INT. At max upgrade (+15) it has an S scaling which is pretty intense. I've been searching around for the "true answer" for quite a while. People say the scaling actually just applies to the physical damage it deals if you punch people with it, and not the spells themselves. The spells are only affected by the magical adjustment which increases every level when you upgrade the Pyromancy Flame. This makes sense, as it's the same for Demon Souls. This chart lists all the magical adjustments. http://darksouls.wikidot.com/pyromancy-flame

Yeah, when you have 32 Strength, you can wield with 1 Hand... I really wouldn't invest so much in Strength yet, but hey, it's your game, so have fun. Also, if you chop off the Gargoyles (first one) tail, it drops an Axe. I'm at work so I couldn't tell you this earlier. Basically almost all bosses in the Dark Souls that has a tail of some sort, will have loot available if you manage to chop them off.

I looked up the stats of that and the gargoyle shield, i planned on getting it and tried aiming at the tail, but when I realised I could kill the mofo right there, I just did. And yeah with the lvl up I first got some more endurance... I need more endurance to wear that thing anyways. I also got that item that breaks the curse, so I dont have to go back there when I get cursed... so one question, how does it work with the curse.. once you get cured from it, is it possible to just get cured again, if you face again whatever enemy does it to you?

The Gargoyle does drop a shield, but that is by chance. If you chop off its tail, the tail itself gives you an axe. You can say the tail and the boss have separate loot tables. Just to add, your sword needs 22 strength to wield with both hands. http://darksouls.wikidot.com/sword-of-the-black-knight Curse is just a status applied to you. So you can cure it again and again if you get cursed again and again. I personally never got cursed in the Depths. I actually farmed those buggers a bit since they are 300 exp each ![]()

You can get cursed again by the same mobs after having cured yourself. And if you are cursed and get cursed again your life total is reduced again by half. I'm almost 100% sure a single cure will remove multiple stacked cursed at least.

a question about offering others to be summoned: where do i put the summon stone, infront of where the white door thingy leading to the boss is or behind? And I know that for someone to summon you or an NPC he has to be human, but what about being summoned.. thats possible even if youre undead, right? And what happens if I should die while helping someone? Do I still lose souls and humanity? how do I recover them if I do? i feel like some curious child, asking his parents a billion questions lol Another question: How do I sell items or get rid of them otherwise, havent seen a sell option on any merchants yet OOH ANOTHER ONE: if I go to Oswald and choose abandon covenant, and then join another one, does that count as betraying the first one?
