Also I can't believe I just noticed the auto-sniper has a forward grip available and it improves it so greatly, now my combat sniping which I was already doing suddenly became way more deadly. Once I finish my next save up which is for the second infiltrator bouncing betty spot, it'll be in a good place to wreck with.
How do you fare against comet crackmaxes?

I haven't fought one head to head at close enough range to tell really, it's probably just whoever gets the jump/shoots better. If they have the ability active falcon should kill them in 2 hits so you can kill them immediately if you shoot well I guess. Not sure if flak armor affects direct hits by explosive stuff.

Do you use the agies shield between shots? That would probably help.

Started playing two weeks ago and it's a lot of fun! Getting a K/D ratio >= 1 seems to be my biggest problem right now. I think I'm at around 0.8 =/ Doesn't help when a platoon leader tells everyone to rush objectives only to get mowed down repeatedly by MAX's (had it a couple time at Bio Labs).
I've also noticed that the highest K/D ratios come from people that play with vehicles a lot. Haven't really tried it myself.

It would have a bigger impact on the shotguns cause their reload time is killer. Dual Falcons has not very much downtime at all since you usually stagger your shots (you have to re-aim for left/right arm cause the firing is offset significantly left/right from the crosshair at close range) and the one is reloaded again already. That's partly why it's so fun, the reload time is incredibly fast. I actually think charge is better with that setup cause multiple infantry can trap you badly if they aren't intimidated by the constant stream of rockets, so the extra maneuver is golden.
Depends on whether aegis shield is effective against vehicle guns, I haven't afforded it yet.

This is why I now drive a Magrider and found an outfit with a good armor column

playing normally after a double xp weekend with 150%+ exp is kinda.... depressing

Are Zurvan and Dahaka (amp stations) in any way related to Zurvan and Dehaka of the Heart of the Swarm campaign?

idk I've never played HotS but it sounds like a planetside tribute then. Also, Zurvan is the god of space and time in Persian mythology. Dahaka was already in PS1 but google will probably give another mythological backstory.

I doubt it, although it is a pretty odd coincidence.

Ah, both are. He's a Persian dragon-king.
Peri are fallen angels.
Guess both just used Persian mythology to name stuff.

Potentially relevant: My Gaming.SE answer for all major base names
Also, i uninstalled 3 days ago. I really love the game but the players make me soooooo angry all the time. I'm extremely competitive and when i see a chance to win a close battle but then lose because other players are not following orders or are just too slow, i just get angry.
Now i'm looking for a game with the same intensity of platoon leading because all other games seem kind of boring now :-/

If there was an alternative i would have quit long ago. But nothing comes even close in scale.
Still lonewolfing my daily ribbons. Maybe the steam sales will bring something new...

I'm glad lockon is being addressed soon, now that I've gotten the hang of flying a bit, I like barely will go near TR territory because you are just playing dodge the strikers then.
Also I'm having fun but on the infantry side of things, here's what I've started to feel like: It's too much about Medic-Engi-Max. When things get serious infantry-wise, you want almost everyone on these three. With NC, it dominates close quarters, and with the other factions it is very strong at everything. Medics especially though. It's so hard to go wrong with mass medics. They are just stupidly good I feel, revive is so fast and useful and low risk (and the certs are so cheap, why?, so everyone has it), and not only that, they are really freaking good in straight up combat, assault rifles are so good and reliable (for some reason the most all-around good infantry weapon is only available to the medic class?), and their self heal (especially if you combine it with kits) makes them take a shitton of damage, basically almost rivaling a heavy.
I'm more OK with Engineer, which feels like a well designed support class.
Now the outsiders: Light Assault is a one-trick pony, they can make it rain C4. It's really strong, but I feel like their class should be renamed C4 Fairy. Heavy has their one role also, the rocket launcher extraordinaire, or I guess also being a jack of all trades solo class cause there isn't anything they are particularly bad at. But in almost any situation that's not directly shooting vehicles with a rocket launcher, I'd rather have a medic. Infiltrator has really useful support and utility stuff and they can sneak around. That's cool, but sniping just seems really underpowered and even if you do kill a bunch of guys it still doesn't seem very useful in the big picture (that's why I use the auto-sniper almost always and play like a utility soldier--mines are so good--just with a gun that works at long-ish range, and it helps that I think the Mag Shot pistol is incredible). And SMGing (I don't have an SMG yet) seems like it can really disrupt disorganized clusters, but is also more annoyance than threat in serious matters.
Basically the three outside classes feel like a sideshow to the important stuff except when their one trick is needed. When they aren't I always feel like I'm just handicapping myself by not being a medic. Oh and that's despite the fact that the amount of certs I've spent on medic is not even close to those other classes.

The game is largely a glorified tug-of-war and medics' revive is like giving your guys redbull. If numbers are about even, clueless people push from cover to cover, while whoever is organized attempts to flank to kill the mobile spawn. If they're uneven in either way, it's a wash.
I don't doubt some sweet tactical action could be had on like a platoon vs platoon match, but then it's little more than a poorly coded Battlefield clone.

I'm not an infantry main, but I've spent a lot of time with infantry classes. I do agree that medic is a very good combat class, but that was their intention on it from beta, it was never meant to be strictly "support". It's an all purpose infantry class. Heavy is more specialized with their shield and rocket launchers. You need them to kill vehicles for free, and they can rocket down maxes. They're also great at killing infantry, but there's no reason medics can't be too.
Light assault with smg is amazing in most situations, and it's unlike playing any other class. The extra bullet spread per shot is so low that with the right attachments I can hipfire in mid air and secure kills, and hop from balcony to balcony getting flanks off and then breaking line of sight again whenever the other team catches on. I know a guy who plays light assault 90% of his playtime and claims a constant 6-8k/d.
Infiltrator is useful for suppressing an area so that other classes have an easier time gaining ground. If you have a couple of infils sniping a balcony that another team's holding down and shooting from, it's going to clear out quickly, giving your guys one less area to worry about taking fire from on their push. It indirectly helps the results. Max is probably the most dumbed down class but at least it takes resources. I like that they can change their weapon load outs for free as the situation changes, so at least you can be rewarded for thinking a little bit.
The area of this game that needs a balance pass the most right now is vehicles. The relationship between them is all messed up now thanks to harasser.

To anybody still on Mattherson, I have become PineapplePizza of the NC. I will definitely be active in the skies, but I'm still bone-dry on certs due to being BR15.
|
I will see to it that you won't be active in the skies. Your imba plane won't save you. >=D

It's funny on my server (Waterson) I feel like TR overall is so much better at flying than Vanu that I'm like, I feel good enough and prepared to dogfight against Vanu but not TR. As a little added thing it seems like Scythe's are easier to hit and I can't get the hang of aiming at Mossies.

players in this game have no momentum, so it's impossible to track movement accurately, even after playing for way too damn long.
I hope this modern military shit dies in a fire within the next 2 years. I dunno who's idea it was to stick it in this game >_<
