Flares are a must have, especially if you are not TR learning to fly must be a nightmare right now, widespread AA, enemies with perfectly certed ESFs and 6 months experience in dogfighting and to top it off: the new resource costs...

Indeed. Any new pilots will have to endure a lot of pain until they catch up to the practice that the existing pilots have.

It seems too good to pass up, unless you are making a specialized vehicle fighting loadout.

when the game was released flak was way better because there were many splash weapons, most of them have been nerfed however. i still use flak on my medic and engineer. as a medic it helps you to be the last man standing in your group to rezz everybody up again. for the engineer its useful when repairing your vehicle, while still under tank or rocket pod fire.

It's straight up 25% survivability increase if it's maxed (or 20% for a lot cheaper). Which even at one below max, that's 2 extra shots from any of the common guns and one from snipers and sometimes shotguns, that's huge! And it's not like it doesn't help against explosives also. It seems too good to pass up, unless you are making a specialized vehicle fighting loadout. It depends on the type of damage you take. There is a lot of AoE spam, e.g. tanks, liberators, rocket pod ESFs, grenades, etc., so AoE is a big concern and makes flak armor a valid choice for classes that are not directly in the line of fire, e.g. engineers, medics and anti-vehicle focussed HAs. Classes that _are_ in the line of fire, e.g. LAs or CQC Infiltrators, profit the most from the Nanoweave survivability. If you fight outdoors, flak armor is almost always the better choice due to aircraft and tanks spamming you with HE, rocket pods and Zephers. Both are good choices but situationally one will always outperform the other and no matter which you chose, there will be situations where you wish you'd chosen the other. Just pick what feels best for you.

+ Show Spoiler + He crashed into a hill O_o All of my dogfights either turn into one-sided stomps where I can't get my bearings, or both of us unloading into eachother while flying sideways until I blow up because I don't have a rotary. Also, I think the new changes are really really really really weird. Why did they go out of their way to make tanks more expensive? If anything, they should increase the number of people required to fully man vehicles; give the MBT's a driver (with a co-axial gun), a primary gunner, and a secondary gunner. Give the lightning driver gunner / slots. This was in PS1 and fixes the 1-man tankspam problem, why did they feel the need to mess with it? I swear, it's like the sc2 devs are making patches for this game.

I will have to see if the rest of the TAS pilots are going to get involved in this, I know TEST, AT and TGWW have been doing this on the vanu side. This could be really really awesome!
