Also, has anyone found a rustroot? I would navigate the wilderness to come over from New Liquid and prospect.

Now that i have your attention, when making palisades it is alot cheaper to make squares ie not using ridges (some of which you cant even build the walls flat against sometimes). The reason for this is the starting cornerpost you place is very expensive however you can build more cornerposts off this one for only wood. Ideally you want to make a square starting with the cornerpost as one side of your gate and ending up only having to make corner posts that cost wood up until your back to within two spaces of your orginal cornerpost to place the gate. Edit: i'll back this up with some maths by that design you have there you will be needing to place at least 4 starting cornerposts (for one gate, an additional one for every extra gate on the other sides) This will cost you: 40xleather 20xropes = 200 pieces of string 8xbone glue = 80 bones As opposed to simply 10xleather 5xropes = 50 string 2xbone glue = 20 bones + w/e wood for each The baseline is wood is cheap and easy to get, the other things considerably less so. If you dont understand, check out the wiki and if you still need further clarification contact me ingame when i'm online. http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Palisade - wiki link.

Either we can make an economic wall using the ridges, or we can make a huge square wall giving us expansion space within its borders for a higher cost. Here's the second option. ![]() This here is actually the far cheaper of the two options, any variation of this is definately what i'd recommend. edit: it doesnt even have to be a 'square' as long as its all a singe line double edit: a note on gates, each extra gate will multipy the cost alot so carefully consider whether you want to spend more for extra, and if not where to place your only one. Also there is a problem with such a large community and gates (however there is a workaround, the gate requires a key to open and close i wouldnt not however recommend anyone to take this key outside the walls as if you die everyone is trapped. The solution is to store the key inside in a container and if you want to leave have someone else let you out, then let you back in. Creating extra keys takes metal which is fairly hard to come by early on (finding ore is tricky, either you have to luck out on a cave with a section you can mine with ore with low strength, and hope not to get a cave in on you. Or you have to prospect for a mine hole, which requires rustroot which you need a perception x exploration value of over 500 to just start seeing. And the minehole itself requires hardened leather which requires wax which is another issue in itself)

I'm going to draw a picture here, try to imagine it: 0 this i will use to represent the original corner post you place - this costs what i stated above - this is just a regular piece of wall that you can build by clicking on the corner post and stating the direction you want it to go - this costs 3 blocks of wood X this is the second type of corner post which can be built off of either regular wall pieces or the starting post - it only costs 30 blocks of wood ~ this is just natural terrain your using to wall to (barring the fact some cliff terrain like you have you cant actually do that as you have drawn) _ this is just filler to make the diagram work So imagine you start like this (not to scale obviously): X 0--X - ___ - - ___ - X------X This will cost you only the intial posts cost + the extra wood for the other cornerposts + wall pieces However if you wanted to build multiple lines of walls using the natural rock to help out you'll have to lay more original posts ie like so: 0--------X 0~~ ~ ________ ~ ~ ________ ~ ~~~~0--------- Just in making a gate you require an additional starter post let alone any other walls branching off. If you still dont get it just assume i know what i'm talking about (I played this game back in world 3 for a while, and have built a palisade in both worlds, proof below) ![]() This is my place i built solo (at least an old version of it several days old now) so i know what i'm talking about. edit: i know i'm coming off a bit defensive but its late :S and i just dont want you guys to waste your resources or convince each other i'm wrong somehow.

To clarify my in game map making capability is limited (for the time being) due to the rarity of inkweed, but a photographic memory helps.

What was messing up was the stupid game lag spikes before. I'd do one attack, freeze, then do like 8 jumps in 5 seconds :/
