Hahaha, it shoots pea bullets when I use it...though I do use the suppressor. Don't really like the weapon, but new assignments...
There is no universal stat metric, the only one that I can really think of that can measure quality players is the Skill rating, since that rating ignores revives, since all others can be manipulated to a degree. SPM doesn't matter because of Premium Bonus Periods, plus if you're playing Urban/CQ maps, the SPM is generally higher with the Resupply/Revive/Heal.
@stats: stats dont mater much when compared to other people, there are so many ways to manipulate them and they totally depend on what maps and modes you play. Someone who plays a lot of CQD for example can easily achieve 1K+ SPM or revive whoring on metro can get you abnormal SPM too. Also personally i always perfer to play with people who play for the team instead for the stats even if they are sub par skill wise. If your KDR is 1.5 or higher and you are a casual/pub player who only plays inf you are doing great (atleast in my book). Skill is something like ELO, dont know exactly how its calculated but its hard to judge a player by it because it can change pretty fast.
@ACW-R: This gun is ok in general and weaker than the AS Val wich has the same damage model (its easier to use though). The problem with it is that it is or was (not shure if its fixed yet) glitched like the m16 was, meaning the supression spread multiplier isnt applied correctly. Also Phelix i would suggest you to try the AS Val if you use the ACW-R with supressor IMHO its the superior gun especially if you are not using the heavy barrel.
BTW check out following video that one of the symthic guys made (probably the most skilled with the AN94 i have seen so far). Its a TDM game on Kharg where he wants to showcase the superiority of the AN94 at all ranges when used by someone who mastered the gun. Enjoy

The Skill stat is also quite useless at measuring anything. I know several people who have had it above 1k when just flying jets because they're retardedly good at that. It doesn't matter jack shit how good you are on the ground since there's no way to control the environment and engagements like if you're an amazing pilot.
If you go 50-0, your skill will likely end up super high, while a great round with a medium number of deaths may put it at 4-500 simply because you randomly died to some newer players.

I agree, that stat can be manipulated as well with vehicle play, especially with Jets as you stated. Though if you're playing mostly urban maps with less vehicles, I think this is the best stat to gauge upon, since this stat takes revives into account.
Of course the VAL is better, but Assignments....ACW-R with 100 kills. Now, obviously the guns to use are the M4A1 and the M16A3 for the respective classes since it's easy to shoot and don't need practice to compensate for their low recoil. Suppressors are for pub play, since hiding from the mini-map is more important than accuracy if you're lone wolfing/going behind enemy lines, while Heavy Barrel is best if played as a team.
With enough practice, the AN-94 is the best option as shown in the video; though I would have like to have seen some more competent opponents spraying with the trinity of Assault weapons. I think that a proficient player would get the beat on him, but I cannot make a definitive judgement.

I don't really disagree. It's simply the fact that you need to combine all of the stats together with maps/modes played to even get close to a relevant measure of how good a player is. No one number or even a couple of them mean anything in isolation.
Okay so how do I get hooked up with the more competitive organized scene in BF3? I don't know how much longer I can take these pubs. Going around killing shit is fun but I need some strategy, organization,etc.. It seems like a huge majority of games I play people are just extremelly casual and in it for the kills. I just see the actually skilled players just racking up k/d ratios and I'm above them them with a 30-20 recorded because Im playing objectives.
I just got back on CS after a few weeks of just BF just so I can get play more competitive. I suck shit now and picked up a few bad habits but it feels satisfying knowing that my teammates were actually trying to play as a team.
@ obstikal: check out http://www.global-conflict.org/ or https://levelbf.com/ if you want to play organized large scale battles (64p) but dont want to join a clan/team. For levelbf you need to be atleast a eagle 15, a teamplayer (meaning you need to PTFO and be willing to follow orders), and have the ability to use communication (hedset/microphone) to be accepted. Global conflict has the same restrictions but without the rank requirement. Both leagues have some pretty high level bf players participating, so its a great test for your abilities. Also battles are divided between NA and EU servers for ping fairness.
If you want to join a team you can ofc play ESL tournaments/ ESL versus, Clanbase, TWL or any other ladder/tournament there is. Those tournaments and ladders are mostly 4v4squadrush, 5v5conquest or 8v8conquest though.
If anyone is interested in a large clan that does 32v32's at least once a month you should check out my clan at Armored Fist. We also have practices two days a week at 3 different times (EU, EC and WC). Or if you just wanna play with some people. feel free to add me on battlelog, k1shY. We are also competing in the new Cevo 5v5 CQ ladder this season.
That guy is pretty beastly with that AN, I think I might have to try it out some more!
I will probably join GC too their campaign system is interesting and i like that they play without 3d spotting. BTW are you playing for Gladius or Star sneaker?
I always try to play BF3, but its just so terrible. There is no matchmaking at all. 90% of all games I join are buttrapes where one team holds all bases and camps the other teams base. What the fuck did they think? Why is there no better matchmaking? All these level100 nerds abusing these helicopters/jets - thats just no fun!
Lol, have you ever played a non-competitive shooter before? I'm seriously curious, because I don't really see how anyone has ever come up with a credible solution for matchmaking for games like these.
Just because someone is high rank doesn't mean he's any better than a fresh rank 1. In fact I'd say, 99% of all players in the game are just so utterly terrible that it's frustrating to play any pub game at all in some way or another. Besides, it's been this exact way since bf1942, if you came into this game expecting anything different, then you were either mislead or naive.
Using the term nerd as an insult also doesn't make you look very smart on a goddamn forum dedicated to competitive gaming.

Pretty much this.
You can just Assault-whore your way to 100 on Metro and it'd be way faster than playing "normally." That doesn't mean you're a good player. While it's true that choppers/jets can be pretty annoying, you can easily find Infantry Only maps or maps that just have land vehicles.
